- We moved! Our apartment was very nice but we found a house with a garage and a backyard not too far away. Do not be fooled, this house is not a standard house you would find here and it is very Americanized compared to most. Hope you enjoy!
I have never seen anything like that before. A Japanese version of a modern American suburban home in Japan. Killer view. Are you guys rock stars or something over there?

Nice house, it's quite big and especially by Japanese standards. Please use the camera zoom more and move the camera up and down to better show each room. The rear view of the bay is really awesome.
Looks like a nice home. pretty far from everywhere i guess? but looks like a very cool neighborhood. Dig the awesome sunset view patio/balcony.
My daughter and I are watching this so she can see what the houses are like, and she is excited if i get the job in Sasebo
We were very blessed to get this house. It's not often that one like this comes available. We spent 7 months in an apt before finding this perfect place! Sasebo is wonderful though. We absolutely love it here!

Hey this place is so cute! My hubby and I will be moving there next month. From my understanding we have to stay on base unless it’s full. From the FB pages it seems like on base housing has been full. Could I possibly PM you, would love to know how to get into a home styled like this. Blessing and thanks for sharing this video. Been kind of stressed trying to figure out what and where we might live lol.
Sorry, I just saw your comment! Absolutely. I've heard that the base housing has a wait list, but I am not sure :( With my husbands job, we did not have the option to live on base, so our circumstances may be a little different. We lived in an apartment near base for months, and I looked at the housing website homes.mil every day searching for a house to move too. It was expensive and stressful to get this house, but worth it. I wish I could be of more help!

I really like the video/house almost as much as that adorable dog. Is it normal for the main living area to be upstairs? (i.e. kitchen/living room). I'm contemplating applying for jobs in Korea/Japan. I've lived/worked in Korea before but have only visited Japan.
Thank you for the compliment :) The few that we have seen have been different. This may be unique to the builder. We have a few friends who have living areas on the bottom floor. Japan is beautiful. Best of luck!

We are the only people I know with a garage at the moment! It really isn't common for houses in Japan to have garages! Best of luck though, they do exist.
Also do you have to run this through HSC . a requirement for military. Not sure if process is the same since your a contractor

1. Is it common in japan to have such huge steps like that? I.e. from the garage to the house and the backyard to the bedroom?

1. No! Garages are unheard of. This is def an american style house!! We got lucky. You don't see houses like this out here ever!
2. Not yet :( There are a lot of restrictions for travel because of COVID. Hopefully by the end of the year or next year.
3. And no carne asada fries! There is a Navy spouse who owns a food business our of her house, and she makes INCREDIBLE mexican food. Tamales made me feel like I was back home!

Is this base housing or off base housing??
Off base housing. We moved from an off base apartment to this house. This is really not the norm out here. I watched the housing offices posts for months waiting for a house like this!

@@RICENNESS You can look up housing on Homes.mil I hear that it's been really rough as of lately though. :( With COVID, many families have been delayed so there is somewhat of a housing shortage now.
