Great pod as always! Can’t wait for the rest of the season. Production quality top notch and the conversation around Eo was great. She’s only in the series for such short time but her effects on Darrow and the rest of the characters linger as we peel back the layers of her character right along side Darrow to truly discover what her dream was and who she was as a person.

My perspective:
EO’s true role was to become the personification of the dream. She implanted the dream in Darrow’s mind, gave her life for the idea of it, and became Persephone. However, early on in the series Darrow held onto her like she was some sort of guiding light. You mentioned him using his role as the “dream keeper” to motivate himself, and I feel that in the beginning he clutched that role so tightly out of
1) guilt (he felt he OWED it to her)
2) the desire for vengeance
-both masked as the dream.
Did he grasp the concept of the dream and truly desire for all people to have equal agency?-of course. But I feel his obsession with the dream when he was younger got a little bit tangled up with his grief for EO. He had to make this happen for HER, and it had to be HIM to do it.
Any time Darrow was like, “Is this what EO would have wanted?” I wanted to say: bro, she was 16. She was fantasizing about the glory of the end result, not all the hard decisions and destruction it would take to get there. EO would have no idea how to actually ACHIEVE what she wanted, nor could she have fathomed the cost of it all.
That’s the hardest part of the dream-HOW TO OBTAIN IT. I think Darrow and everyone else who fought in the rising all understood and believed in EOs dream-but it’s the execution that was harder to agree on. There are many paths to the same place.
Yes to all this. Love the introspection and the thoughts. Stay tuned because we definitely will touch on a few of these themes you bring up. And "how to obtain it?" That is the hard part. So much so, that Pierce will end with 4 thick books on just how hard that is...lol. Thanks for giving us a watch. Hail Reaper!
