ha 😁 i know what you mean. certain far away dim/ quiet sounds sometimes sound like noisier things in close proximity. for example sometimes the refrigerator kicks in and starts whirring in the kitchen, but to me it sounds like a Taxi outside with its engine ticking over. dub reggae does this a lot with all the delayed echoed vocal snippets and quirky squelchy dub effects. i've been stoned listening to dub so many times and thought my mum or girlfriend was calling me from the other room when really it was just song effects. apologies for the length.
