If there were one thing I would tell my younger self if I could is stay active and take care of your joints. I played hard as a kid and did stuff like sled legs. I definitely feel it now.
You might be able to leave a few foot section of say stove pipe that is capped on the down end and weighed down with say rocks so it will freeze into place through the ice and then just make a fire inside of it when you want to pull it out. I'm not totally sure but seems like a super idea especially as the race is on to the oil in the Arctic.

So the track behind the skier is gonna be heavy to carry with no poles when the battery runs out .gotta make some telescopic ski poles so you can drag the apparatus behind you atleast .or carry a chain and lock it to a tree😅

I don't know about who snowshoes in fresh snow. they like groomed or pretracked snow, especially XC ski tracks. the whole idea is to have a really small snowshoe and not do any work.
