Mom documents hilarious bedtime routine with huge Newfoundland

- Bedtime is often a struggle for parents when they have young children. Here we have a video of a young and very awake little girl. That alone can be a struggle to get her to go to sleep. Now, add a 165 pound energetic Newfoundland to the mix and Mom is instantly over her head. Watch her completely lose control as the two have an epic and adorable pre-sleep game of tag, tug of war and chase! Mom just decides to let it play out for a while as the sight is amusing and they seem to be having too much fun. But finally, Mom drops the hammer and both seem to get the point.....we think. Hilarious duo!

They are so gentle. I was fortunate to have a rescue dog. It just growd n growd into a Newfie. We Had 20 glorious years with our Moses. Even in old age when walking was a pain, we took him to the beach n once in the sea he was king. He ended his gentle life by coming up n putting his huge black pie face in his dad's lap n just slipped away. We'll never forget him.
Wow! 20 years! That's more than double most NL dogs' lifespan. You were sure doing something right!

Wow, that is AWESOME. We have a 14 year old Newfie. When she passes away I hope it as peaceful and gentle as her personality, just like your baby passed away, doing what Newfies do best: put their big black slobbery face in your lap and loving you. 🙂
@Viking hello Viking. I should imagine very old. He was an exception, but these days more dogs are living longer. I must assure you although towards the end he got a bit puffed out we came round that by taking him to the beach n helping him to water n whay.... he was king In his natural element. The years stripped away n he used to swim. I'm sure he had a huge smile on his face. Most of our furchildren have had to have the vet out in the end but, Moses was blessed he passed peacefully n quickly on his master's lap. Xx

Lorraine they are when fully grown my boy is 13 months weighs 12 stone.. think a PUPPY in an adults body.... gentle ? Course they are. But they do have their days.... lol🤣🤣🤣🤣

They are so beautiful and protective. I remember coming out of the library and seeing a little girl alone, sitting on a stone wall with this huge, beautiful Newfie sitting next to her. I was so entranced, I went over to say hello and the Newfie got up and sat right down in front of her like ''Ohhh nooo...you are not coming near here"...lol He was a Nanny!!

My aunt used to have a Newfoundland in Littleton Colorado, he used to be so friendly like this guy, I remember there would be frequent ‘bear sightings’ in the community. It was just the dog 😂😂😂.

Daisy May I was a child back then in 1999, when people still had those brick phones and no social media. I remember my aunts neighbours calling one day at like 2am on those brick phones about how they saw a black bear was terrorising the area, she lived in a mountaintopish region with a open back yard. He loved the outdoors. Lmao it was just bubbles wondering about at witching hours. Word spread there was a bear in the community as there was no Facebook etc to debunk the myth that.. it was a dog. Haha
I am from Maine and we had to put a orange vest on our Newfoundland when it was hunting season.

Deric Lane Hahaha, poor doggies, they love the outdoors, my aunts Newfoundland loved running around the mountains. He died a while back though :(, didn’t live too long.

My sister had one she had to stop swimming the dog kept trying to "rescue" her.

I had a friend whose Newfie did that. He would take swimmers by their forearms and lead them to the shore. He was never trained to do it, I guess it’s bred into them.

Used to have a neighbour who had a Newfoundland called Ted. he was so gentle even with her baby boy. sweet natured dogs. I'm a bit to old for a big dog so have a little multiple and she has an equally sweet nature. I love dogs of all kinds, my home wouldn't be the same without a pet.

Oh dear! I got breathless watching the kids pillow fight. I watched this 4 times. My first Newfoundland said GOODBYE in June 2018. I was so depressed so I decided to call the breeder. She had a puppy for me, 9 were reserved but one little baby had no family. I guess my Ole Dame was holding on to one for me. It was sad to get a baby so soon but I couldn't be without a Newfie. Now she is 15 months and so intelligent as my previous 2.
She loves pillows and my bed but she is not allowed to sleep upstairs in the night. At the age of 3 months she underwent 2 major knee operations. The Vets couldn't believe that a baby could have such a major operation. Thank God she overcame this trauma. She is now a water rescue dog like my previous 2.

I had a Newfoundland dog he died at the age of 13 he was called samson and was part of bolton rescue team. I loved him so much he died of cancer god bless his loving nature and loyalty he was the best dod in the world.
Dogs are eternal puppies, that's why we love them so much.

I've had three newfies and I can tell you from experience that they are one of the most wonderful breeds you could ever have. But they are such drama queens!

Watching this as I lay down for a nap with my Newfie laying on my foot panting and Chocolate Lab curled up next to him.
We were camping in Canada by a lake. I thought another Newfie showed up. After the bear's 3rd appearance, we spent night in motel.

Showing dogs belongs to massive breeders, dogs with right body conformation, and above all with right temperament came from small passionate breeders, i believe this is the case. Congratulations for this magnificent Newfoundland.

Beautiful dog and daughter. We have a Newfie but we would never encourage that kind of behavior in the house, she is way too big and weights too much. She was trained as a puppy not to jump on the furniture and have good indoor manners. Our Newfie is allowed to be that rowdy outside all she wants to.

Vikki Lawson I just visited a friend with the most obnoxious Newfie. 150 pounds, drooling and soaking wet. He smelled my female dog I guess, and did that obnoxious thing male dogs often do, at my expense. I suppose I was laughing at the absurdity, but that’s really not okay. Dogs need instruction, especially ones this size. Also, probably a good idea to neuter the beast.
