Why did it take so long? Well this channel is just a hobby of mine, I don't earn anything with this. I just make video out of pleasure and when I have the time. And had no time in the recent months and had little motivation to be honest. If video is blocked or deleted and you have put a lot of time into it, then it is really disappointing and difficult to start again. And these images I use I do not own and are just everywhere on the web, I do not colorize it myself. (wish I could but unfortunately) I'm just an amateur not professional at all. But thanks for always the nice reactions!
a lot of your old videos are deleted... can you upload them on google drive or mega or on anything, to be available to the people .... please i miss a lot these videos.
Don't stress your self. This is not "topic of the week" content. Im sure most people are aware about that. This videos stay relevant, and to have them collected and presented like this is something im really thankful for. Hope you don't have to fight to much with CZcams in the future. Its content that is so controversial( (as an event) that *because of that* its really important that it is available to the public. In that senes it really cant be controversial (as media) to have it on this platform. It sad that there isn't much understanding for that on the big internet platforms. Atleast when passionated single creators are concerned.
The second Husband of my grandmother fought in this Battle on the German side as an paratrooper. There‘s a story in our family that his airplane was shot down and he was only able to survive because some greek fishermen rescued him out of the water. They even helped him to survive the coldness after the hours in the water by helping him to get warm again. I find it amazing that eventough my step grandfather was an enemy combatant those kind fishermen acted very humane.
It’s saddens me Hct, that the time you’ve taken over the years to merge clips with epic music. To only be taken down by CZcams, this was a time of history of the human race and should never by forgotten. Hct I’ll always be subscribed to your channel with the bell notification on. And thank you for your videos over the years.
War is hell! Doesn't matter the side the time and the duration. In the end there is only destruction and mothers who crying for their sons. Rip to all of them. Germans English Australians and Greeks. They died for what they thought is right. Lets not repeat the same mistakes. Unlucky but brave generations. Thanks for this beautiful video and remind.
My great great uncle from New Zealand fought here. He came back home shell shocked and never really recovered. He also became an alcoholic and died 15 years later.

Mind blowing footage, never saw so much colored videos of ww2, thanks a lot for it. The battle of Crete lasted 10days,approximately over 6000 casualties on both sides. Don't understand banning such videos of historical content to never forget what once happened.
Great video. I went to crete in 1991 with the rnzn to commemorate the 50th anniversary. It was a moving experiance for me to meet some of the veterans who fought there. Something ill always cherrish. Your video has captured the sadness of loss and the bravery of these men so well. Thankyou.
My grandpa wounded here in the neck. Given blood from a local girl that saved his life before being evacuated to Egypt to continue fighting in the NZ 18th battalion
Crete is one of the most beautiful treasures in Southern Europe. No wonder that the Cretan Civilists did their best and gave their lives to keep it from the Evil. I am German and i travelled to a lot of Greek Islands and Locations, but nowhere i was more welcomed and more stunned by the Lanscape and the proud and friendly people like Cretans. I passed dozens of war memorials and everytime i was understanding why the Cretans fought and gave their lives for this Island. Even the British and Australian Foreces Fled the Island but the most brave and patriotic Cretans stood their ground. Over hundreds of years every country tried to take over Crete but in the End they still have their Freedom, that's what counts! Love Crete and never again
Good to see you back. Your videos always make me think how easy our lives are at the moment. Seeing those brave men, I find inspiration to do a little better, run a bit faster, work a little harder. Thanks :-)
Amazing footage. My great uncle fought with the Australians during the Battle of Crete and was captured. He saw out the rest of the war in Stalag VIII and was very bitter for a time at having been captured. He lived until the 1990s.
I met an Aussie bloke about ten or eleven years ago that fought here. A grenade went off near him and permanently deafened him. He and his close friend and many others escaped capture and boarded a ship, only for it to be sunk by a Stuka. He lost his close friend here. He managed to board another ship and escape. I had to communicate to him through his Daughter or through a small whiteboard and pen he carried with him.
Amazes me how modern this footage looks. The equipment and technology makes it appear as if this could've happened last week. And to think this was only 25 years after the first world war. Amazing stuff.
My grandfather was fighting with the resistance on the island. His brother was executed during the occupation of the Wehrmacht, along with the population of a whole village. He never used to speak about the war. We believe that he survived within a group of resistance forces in the mountains of Crete. After liberation from the allies he moved to northern Greece. It is not a question of guilt. Today I live in Germany. We should remember the horror of war. Dont let us be devided.
Thank you for the footage HCT you never disappoint, im from Greece and this made me feel emotional, im very proud of my country and what we've managed to do in WW2
we know it's hard but dont give up , i even have your deleted videos downloaded here so good that they are. Many don't speak like me, but your little actions make a difference to us, are my last weeks of life for health reasons and I needed to say, THANKS HCT! Thank you so! stay in peace my friend ... ✌:') (normandy was my favorite, my father was there, that video was a gift. thk u again)

I really enjoyed watching the video. Interesting too see the German perspective. I was born in Australia and both my parents came from Crete. My father was born in 1932 and remembered the German occupation very well. We have alot of respect for the ANZAC soldiers who fought bravely during that time.
Gavalomouri, Crete my family’s village in Chania. My grandfather was in the V Cretan brigade in Epirus and had fought on the front against the Italians. He was shipped off the next day after the Italians invaded and left my grandmother and uncle back in Crete. Luckily after Athens fell to the Germans, the Germans allowed Greek soldiers including my grandfather to return home. While he was to return to Crete he was held in German -“demilitarization” camp (aka jail). The luftwaffe dropped a bomb that fell through our home’s roof, but did not explode. Missing my grandmother by mere feet. After Crete fell, he returned home and rebuilt the home. Funny to know that your whole bloodline was almost wiped out, but due to luck was allowed to prosper. There is an awesome photo of my grandfather and his fellow villagers who were shipped out in the V Cretan brigade at the village cemetery where he is buried. Cretans are hospitable people, but for their island, they will die a thousand deaths. The Germans could not understand this.
Gus Bethanson No. That was the D-Day parachute invasion that happened the night before the morning of the sea landings. Watch the Band of Brothers mini-series produced by Tom Hanks. It’s excellent.
Dday parachute invasion was supported with naval ,ground forces and aircrafts crete was supported with only aircrafts and that makes crete parachute invasion biggest in the world and most hard to make.
Hey we understand. Just glad you put another video out. Your the best, the original, a standard of respect for WW2 that CZcams could never understand. People don’t realize when soldiers are in battle, soldiers aren’t fighting for god and country, they’re fighting for each other. Glad to see ya HCT.
The Allies expect German invasion from the sea, not from the air ; the strategic position of Maleme airport was underestimated and Germans managed to take it. Nevertheless Allies could still send reinforces from Africa and probably save Creete , but then it was considered better to keep these forces for future military operations.

Best military in history but, when you open up multiple fronts against empires, the best is still not good enough.
Germany was in the corner, from the beginning on. There was no other option, but to open up multiple fronts.
Not the best military in history by a long shot
