My thoughts about it was you're so painfully attached to someone, you've unhealthily built your entire life around them, and now that they're gone you don't know what to do with yourself. Everything reminds you of them. Even your own body reminds you of them. All of the places that they've touched or kissed, you can almost still feel their hands on you. They're gone and they don't want you, but you feel as though they still "own" you. Earnestly Yours.

Skin is beautiful though for it carries your soul and allows you to feel the earth. It's so sad to me that so many people hate the body they're in. I know that sadness all too well but I learnt to love my body as a home. For it is not the physical appearance I love but the heart it carries and the dreams it dreams. My body is just a cell that I won't carry forever...

Personally, this brought on an intense hurting in both body and soul. Never having been held, never held anyone....the feeling of another, naked, I've never experienced in all my years. His first touches and growing grasps on his skin reminded me of my longings for just the simple warmth of my lover next to me, beneath my tender fingertips.... When I wish for it so much, but am far from ever having in my reality, I am only able to grab pieces of my own body and my aching is brought physicality with fingernail marks and red patches on my own skin.... A very personal and intimate piece. Not many things bring me to ache and feel like he has always done with his artworks. x

Thank you so much for your comment. For your honesty. I also often feel like that, feel lonely and long so much for a possibility that was never there. And at the same time I feel I could be unable to be so close. Laying naked next to someone else needs so much trust and also love, and I am afraid to loose it then, and still to never experience that. Maybe we are our own enemy.
Just gotta say, I'm 5 years late reading this but you are an amazing writer. Nobody writes like that anymore and it's beautiful, I love it. You should look into writing poems or even books. I'd buy every one

To me this depicts loneliness, because this is exactly what I do when I lie in bed, feeling all alone. I pretend there is someone else just stroking my skin and making me feel beautiful and loved although I hate my body.
I passed the turing test your not alone I'm with you we all with you I know it's hard to believe but don't forget we are a spirits before a body and for the spirits there's no limits maybe I'm so far from you maybe I'm in another country but you're soul brought me here to tell you that's your not alone and I feel your pain like it's my pain we all humans and we all created by love and this love makes us always connected so don't worry and smile ❤️

This was just so filled of panic, anxiety and stress and made me feel all those feelings aswell. The song is very beautiful and the song combined with the video was just painfully honest.
I was already filled with panic and here comes more, but in that soothing way that only music can give you. That soothing way of hearing someone else's pain. It's weird how we find comfort in other people's pain but I guess it just make us feel less lonely and that was nice. To not be so very lonely.

it's the build up of anxiety into a panic attack. when you're in this state of mind you tend to focus on something like rubbing your hands or any part of your skin. little distractions you hope will end what the fuck you're feeling.
while watching this, i interpreted it as the story of a relationship. the start of the video seemed comfortable and passionate and the sweet, calm beginnings of love and suddenly the music sped up and the rubbing of hands seemed to turn into desperation rather than lust and the whole situation seemed really urgent and frantic and uncertain. finally, at the end, the hand slipped away, which i imagine insinuates the end of the relationship. looking back i can really see why so many people are interpreting it as a visual representation of anxiety, i love this song and video and just the fact that music in general means different things to different people ahhh

Omg this song is so good, I've saved it on my favourite playlist on Spotify.
The video ironically reminds me of anxiety and ADHD because of the nervous hand movement and the suggestive hyperventilating.
It also brings me to nostalgia because it doesn't have words in to say what it actually means, therefore I can imagine it more easily (no literal story). I love the minor key at the start to give it suspense and how the note started and ended on the same key.
The video is fantastic and the song is beautiful but honestly what blows me away the most is reading through the comments. On every video it seems that people can only criticise and insult but here it's the opposite and I think that above all speaks volumes about the power of the work.

My interpretation is completely different from other comments which makes me very surprised. To me it depicts love, not anxiety or depression. What I see in this video is two people making love. It is beyond mere sex. They make love, and become earnestly each other's as the title says. The final scene where the hand slipped away does not depict loneliness. I interpret it as being one and only at the very end. To me this is a very tender and earnest depiction of love. This is what I felt when I first watched the video.

The piano music, the video, the meaning, all the comments, how it connects so much without words. Pain anxiety. Made me cry, as it seems to have done with many others..
This has brought me to tears every time I have seen this. It never fails to tear at my heart, in the most beautiful way.
I can feel this piece rooted in his heart, an amalgamation of his anxiety - of anxiety in general. Its slow beginning. Turning rabid, untameable. Where one can be still and unwavering in calm, then, the slightest thing forms as anxiety and it gently grows. Snowballing, quicker now quicker, into something worse. Untill it over takes you. Causing you to retreat into darkness.
I'm a little speechless as I find it hard to come by newer music that's so piercingly rich in its art. Beautifull!

What I felt from this clip - apart from the beauty of the piano - was two people who loved with passion and all the tactile feeding of that love - the true sensuality of even the softest of touch and caress - the simple beauty of every moment - and when one person drifts away, the subtle changes of how they touch - even a hidden resentment to touch - the retracting of the fingertips at the end. And the pain of no longer being touched with love. Quite a gorgeous clip.
Art. no other word for it. Every time I listen to it I fall a little bit more inlove with the mood it brings.
Absolute masterpiece
An anxiety attack. This piece, not only the audio but the visual as well, it perfectly describes the emotions, the tightening of chest, the utter rush of panic that is felt, the clawing at your own skin, the repeated motions, the wringing of appendages.
It's hard to describe an anxiety attack, and just anxiety in general- but this, with no words says it all. And from an amazing artist, who pours himself into every song, who has experienced these feelings, who suffers from the overwhelming and inhibiting anxiety. It's so much more coming from a person who knows exactly what this feels like.
Whenever I'm asked what an anxiety attack feels like words like shortness of breath and a rapid heartbeat come to mind slowly. The first thing I think about is this, the entirety of it, as if showing somebody will convey what cannot be said. And even while listening and watching I feel the wave of panic, the build up of anxiety, the quickening pace of my heart... Almost as if I'm on the verge of an anxiety attack.
This is my favourite piece by Keaton Henson, and one of my favourite songs of all time, even though it causes such feelings to well inside me.
I've listened to this song for years but I'm still always hit with the same overwhelming emotions.

I never realized it was one person (Keaton) caressing himself. I thought there was another, and would lose attention of the video. Been my favorite off the album, and just realized why. Profound, really.
This represents my last relationship. Sadly, he wasn't so nice. I loved him with everything. Even though he hurt me physically, emotionally, financially... the list could go on.
I felt a shell of a person for such a long time, I felt as if he had so much control over me, even more so now.

This video put into images every thought and feeling I ever had. I didn't believe in anxiety before this video, as I watched it I began to cry, cry so hard because someone had depicted my deep down feelings. I finally felt normal... there was a name for my craziness.. Anxiety. Please don't let others opinions impeach on you, Anxiety, Mental illness is real. I thought it was fake and I was weird before this video, I didn't think it was a real illness just a bunch of excuses people told for attention. But it certainly is real and I am now on meds to control it, I found an amazing doctor and am working through it. Please don't ever feel alone.
