RIP Leslie West of Mountain. Saw this band in the 70's and they never failed to put on great show.
Me too 1974 or 75 new Jersey
Leslie was "Da Man", Tone for days and a great guy. Overcame all kinds of health issues and was a trooper till the end.
His music lives online forever......luckily for us.
RIP
I absolutely love the guitar in this song. The intro solo just does something to me.
Agreed. It’s one of the best and most badass songs ever recorded and it’s just 2 and a half minutes long!
Ditto
This is just such a badass riff...definitely an 11 on the cool scale
This band sadly gets overlooked. Such a great band with amazing songs.
People only know about mississippi queen lol
@@juliancarreon5569 lol facts
@@juliancarreon5569 I recommend listening to their first 2 albums. "Climbing and "Nantucket Sleighride". Some good tracks
Marty, I owe my guitar learning all to you... You are an amazing guitar teacher 👌🏼🎸... Rock on Marty!
Bro I agree Marty is a BOSS. But he's not there to get you to practice...that my friend is ALL ON YOU mate.
It's hard not to like Marty's videos if you play guitar. Cuts to the chase, excellent explanation of fretwork, and videos are easy to follow. Plus he seems like a cool guy, which make me keep coming back for more.
I’ve been wanting to learn this song for ages but I never found a good tutorial. Thank you so much!!
Marty can we just take a sec. To really appreciate that Gibson les Paul that you have in your hands..My dream guitar right down to the color..keep killing it with the lessons. Just like a lot of the comments. I've learned so much from you my man. Not having the disposable income. Your lessons never fail.. Thanks again from the heart ♥️😎🎸🎶🎧🔊🔉🖤🎛
One of my all-time favorite intros. Still gives me chills every time I hear this song. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!
Ohhhh Marty what a huge song! Really glad that you make such incredible lessons!!
Marty thanks for playing through at the start. It is fantastic for people to see one, then learn the bits. The pattern forms and then it's about practice. Excellent teaching bro. Thanks.
Leslie West is one of my all time favorite guitarists. RIP Leslie. Great classic 👏
Leslie Wesr was one of Randy Rhoads influence's. An I absolutely love Randy. Along with all Skynyrd O.G meaning Steve, Ed, Allen., Gary.. In no order..
He will be missed
RIP
been using your youtube videos for close to two years. wouldn't be the guitarist I am today without you. THANK YOU MARTY!
Always loved this song, it's a screamer, thank you Marty for the lesson, time to get to work now learning it :)
Marty have you ever had to deal with tendonitis in the wrist/forearrm? and if so do you have any tips to help with preventing these issues? Been with you for almost 15 years now thank you for everything you have done for all of us! Hands down the best teacher/person on the internets!
Love your Blues Rock Lessons Marty!!!! Cheers.
One of the coolest riff in heavy rock blues history. Leslie West is definitely one of my heroes.
Me too
Wow… how crazy! I wanted to learn this over the weekend and was surprised when I searched CZcams that you didn’t have a video lesson on this one, and today you do!
I saw this, was immediately reminded of when I heard this on regular show, and was ready 😂 you're going down in history man

Awesome! I was always intimidated by this rocker and never attempted it. I just watched your lesson and have all of the parts down after an hour! Marty rocks!
Never be intimidated, friend.

I love this song so much. Thank you Marty!
Hey Marty, thank you for the Mississippi Queen guitar lesson, Greatly appreciated!!! RIP Leslie.
Wow what a clear, concise lesson of this classic. Seen a few other vids but they seemed messy. Leslie was very precise. And so is Marty. Well, done!!!

Another masterpiece breaking down a classic, Marty scores 837% as usual 😎
Love that tone
Been messing around with this song on UGT. But NOW I get it. Thanks, Marty
People can say what they want about “dad rock” but it paved the way. I’m younger than when the so called genre was produced but I was definitely raised on it. Which created a backbone for my playing
‘Dad Rock’ is just a BS thing that some immature person made up, who is most likely too insecure to admit that they actually like real music from past decades. After most people get past their twenties, they realize that a decade isn’t really that long, and they gradually stop feeling like a difference of a decade or two makes something ancient.
The real musicians today, who are lucky enough to have one or two hits, still aspire
to get be the kind of solid players who have played in bands like Pink Floyd, the Allman Brothers, Stones, Mc Cartney, The Who, etc. Roger Daltrey just played his own concert in England, last night, 7/12/22. Pretty good- for a guy who has been at it since the early’60’s.
I dig it. Awesome stuff
Thanks Marty! That is a beautiful Les Paul!
Such a great song
Other youtubers have done this song but I was hoping you'd do it soon too Marty. Thanks man!
perfect timing because I needed to learn this song for an upcoming gig
This made my day , awesome
Thank you Notch for this Milisipzi Kuin tutorial 😀
Marty! Almost two years ago I bought an electric guitar, and an acoustic from a flea market. When our second daughter was born I realized - it’s now or never if I ever wanna learn guitar. So in my precious freetime between work and children I took my first shaky steps on the path. I quickly found your beginner-courses on electric (and acoustic) guitar and found them extremely good, easily the best on CZcams. After those intro-courses I kinda got lost on my own songs I wanted to practice on and had Tabs to aid me. Today I’m still not good by any means, but the difference is huge. And I wanted to learn Mississippi Queen. And who provided the best course with correct tabs? You’re the best Marty!
hey, where are the tabs?
This is funny I legit looked for your lesson for so long I can't cheat on another guitar player your just better in my opinion and easy to understand, true meaning of guitar lessons for anyone
Love that song
I love this guy
Good tune and great video.
Thank you between you and Leslie's video I should be doing fine with this song soon !
MARTY MUSIC ROCK ON!
Great video Marty great Tone would you share that patch on the katana please 🤘
Marty's the man.
So cool.....thanks again marty
This was the first solo I've learned to play 🔥🔥
Finally!!! This is a bit of a hard request, but can you do a lesson on Good Morning Vietnam by Jimi Hendrix? Love your stuff Marty, keep it up!
Man you play it with such great rhythm I played this in a band I was in once it sounded awesome but there was 2 guitarists ,if I could play it like you we would of only needed 1😂
I've never heard anything from this group but this sounds really cool. 😎🎸🎸
Awesome mate keep it up!!!
I swear, whenever i want to learn a new popular song, your video always comes up first. Ignoring my obsession for obscure anime themes. I love that about this channel.
this rocks!
I used to this song on guitar hero PlayStation 2. Cool tune🎸🎸🎸🎸
Marty is the greatest
Massive band!
thx for the lesson marty :)

I Live in Mississippi we got Queens, had the King Elvis, birthed Delta Blues with Robert Johnson Muddy Waters and many others. Music has deep roots here. “Kingfish”is keeping the tradition going now.

Love the instruction on blues power chords and licks. I am very rusty. Anyways All I have now is an acoustic so I could barely get to fret 17 for the lick in the beginning. LOL
