Please, Mary!!! Loveeeeeee this idea!
This is a fantastic idea
Oh yes please please please❤
Yes please
Perfect asmr topics!
The compassion in this video made it feel like such a safe space. I’ve done laundry for forever, but there’s tons in life I wish was explained to me for the first time so kindly, these things can seem so overwhelming before you get the hang of it!
Please continue making videos explaining basic adult "common knowledge" functions explained so kindly like this with shopping tours and explanations of what each of products are!! These videos could be so helpful to people on the Autism spectrum who commonly struggle with these kinds of care activities! Other ideas could be doing dishes, or simply just making a purchase at a store using different payment, or how to prepare for a job interview. This video was great, so patient and detailed.
Side note - I laughed so hard at the part you said we'll be doing laundry until we die. It was so real.
Seconding what another commenter said, videos like this are so incredibly helpful for autistic people like myself! We often struggle with these basic everyday tasks and a patient, extremely detailed overview like this is significantly helpful for us. Thank you for making this
This is super educational and relaxing at the same time. I actually enjoy doing laundry but I’ve made some horrible mistakes in the past 🙈 (red shirt turned everything pink😅)
But now I have a college kid and a high schooler who are learning all of this. You would be surprised how many kids in my daughters dorm had no idea how to wash their clothes. This would be so helpful for them❤
I am about to move away from my parents for the first time, so this was such a nice and helpful video to watch. Thank you Mary, for your great work!
Videos like this are so healing for my inner child. i’m 27 and I’ve had to figure out and learn everything myself without any guidance, I would’ve loved to experience a motherly warm presence like this growing up teaching me these things with gentleness and compassion. i love your channel🩷
I would love an equivalent of this but washing dishes. I feel like it would be so relaxing
I never thought I needed this video from you specifically. I'm graduating in 2024 and scared about having to learn all these things I was never taught before I head out into the real world. this was the best advice I could ever hear. I'm taking notes as I watch this as well, but this is such a help. Ive been watching your channel for years and barely comment, but I needed to let you know just how much you've helped with not only my sleep and relaxation, but now my future. Youre an angel for this video, thank you 🤍
I've been doing laundry for 20 years but I think you do it the best. Love your technique! the 🐐 😂
You have done so much for those without parents, even though I have them, my mother never taught me this real world stuff and this means the world to me❤
Question. I love to thrift and I know you do, too! Do you do any specific laundry techniques for sanitizing thrifted clothes? Have you ever had an issue with bugs? Just wanting to be safe and figured Mama Mary would have the answers as usual. ❤😊
Thank you for this knowledge Mary! I have an ADHD laundry tip to share, especially if you struggle with the putting away stage! I used to dread laundry so much but this made laundry a completely neutral task for me.
I sort my clothes by type before I do laundry like tops, bottoms, and then everything else. I set up three baskets so i’ll usually sort when i put my clothes into the hamper to minimize this task on a day i’m doing laundry. When it comes time to put away the laundry, everything in the load is already sorted (and makes socks much easier when a load is mostly socks, underwear, and towels). I also find this helps with staggering laundry and not needing to do more than one load in a day because you’ll wash your pants load when you’re running low on pants and won’t need to do a couple of loads of laundry because you’re low on just underwear. Hope this helps some fellow ADHDers, or others who dread laundry day!!
I’d also like to add that if you don’t air dry at least some of your clothes, you should. Aside from taking care of the garment, you have a good excuse to forget about your laundry for a bit and take your time slowly putting things away as they dry😂
Oh, interesting tip! I have POTS and putting away laundry is an extremely exhausting task 😓 this sounds like it'd help... But yes, taking clothes out of wash to air dry also helps the rest of the load dry faster in the dryer. So while air dry might seem like a cumbersome, unnecessary thing, it can actually be more efficient!
Sounds good, maybe I'll try sorting them like that :)
Dryers also use a lot of energy, so you can save money and ressources by air drying. I air dry everything (unless it's too humid., that can cause mold)
You're such a love. I love listening to you. Im so glad we have washers and dryers. When i was very young my mom had one of those ringer washers. She always told me to not touch it for fear my arms would get stuck in the ringer like my cousin, 😮. Then she got a regular washer when she had my brother. Progress! I do my laundry like you! We have the same laundry style!!! 😅😅😅
This non judgmental, practical how-to advice will help countless people and be so appreciated
This video is wonderful. Would love a video on keeping on top of home cleaning!
i just started living alone and this helps me so much! thank you
Mary, I can't go to sleep to your ASMR (because you are so beautiful), that I have to watch the video until the end. 😊
You're not alone Abe
👍
Thank you Abe, you said what we are all thinking.
I watch every video all the way through. Her beauty and voice are perfect.
We all love Mary ❤️
thank you sm for this video 🫶 i grew up with sorta neglectful parents and it's embarrassing not knowing basic things everyone else was taught early on and i'm still in my 20s figuring stuff out
Former burn nurse here. Thank you so much for the repeated warnings about lint traps on the dryer!!
Mary, I will be 40 years old next month and I never knew there was a vacuum attachment you could buy to clean out your lint trap! I clean mine manually before and after each load, but I’ve always been frustrated by the lint that gets stuck at the bottom of the trap and paranoid that my dryer would catch on fire. I hopped right onto Amazon and ordered one. Thank you!!!!
This gave me a good nap when I was pregnant 😊
I use the dryer balls to start doll heads. Wrap in wool or batting so they’re softer. More sturdy than just stuffing a head.
I love this! I would like if this was a series, how to clean different rooms in your house, the basics of cookings. My mom didn’t teach me how to do a lot of these things so I learn from CZcams!
yesss id love a cooking video too!
I try to keep that in mind with my cooking videos. Typically, I pick basic/simple recipes that anyone can make, with the hopes that it will encourage people to try cooking and baking. :)
I’m 65 years old, and have been doing laundry for 40 years. It surprises me how many people I know were never taught anything about things like this. My mom had me doing laundry when I was in grade school (along with cooking and ironing). All three of us girls had to learn that stuff. For some reason my brother got a free pass. The place I’m renting now has a high efficiency washer and I detest it because they are just too high maintenance for me. I miss my old Sears top loader washer.
I dunno why but this is one of my favourite videos of yours Miss Mary. You are without a doubt the best ASMR artist in my eyes 🙏🏻
Sat down in my recliner with my dog Dottie to watch this and in no time 😴😴😴😴😴 woke up an hour later to my phone alarm reminding me to give Dottie her Prednisone. Great video. Very relaxing. Love you Mary. I've been watching your videos for many years. You're my favorite ASMR artist ❤
This video is my motivation to fold my laundry
I love the “laundry style” phrase. It’s so accurate!! My whole family thinks we’re super crunchy because we use Free & Clear detergents. I just have horrendous eczema, but now that I’ve gotten so accustomed to the scentless detergents, I can’t stand the smell of fabric softeners and heavy fragrances. I swear I can also smell when people need to clean their washer due to overuse of softeners.
Hey girl, I also have horrendous eczema to the point it was taking over my life and I couldn’t get out of bed, light therapy and steroid creams have changed my life so much for the better xx
I’m very sensitive to heavy fragrances, so I never liked the smell of fabric softeners 😅
“Don’t drink it… don’t pour it in your eyes .. It won’t get your clothes clean and it will ruin your weekend,” 🤣❤️😂🤣
My laundry style-just throw it all in and wash it on gentle and cold (except towels I wash those on hot) Not really a style just laziness 😂
top opening washing machines are superior!!
This is so wholesome. We need more content like this on the internet. Image if we all shared our wisdom how amazing our world would be.
Keep these types of videos coming, Mary. I love them, and I love your calm your voice is. Your soft-spokch videos and roleplays are awesome.
Way to go Mary, great job 😊 I'm sure more people than we know don't know all the ins and outs of laundry!
You should make a back to the basics!! How-to’s, maybe a moving list/how to clean and specific cleaning supplies, decor, etc.
My mother lives with me (at her place) and she hates doing my laundry even though I do my own when I get a chance without her barging in to collect my hamper. She said I don’t have a clue what I’m doing. I’ll link her to this. I’m learning in my sleep mom.
1. It’s ASMR
2. It’s useful for beginners and even people who have been doing laundry for a while to learn some new tips
3. it’s over an hour long
This is the perfect video i love it ☺️
Thank you for this video. It’s never too late to learn. And you’re a great teacher.
My tip for people using pods… one pod is NOT enough for a large load. Read the detergent package because it will likely suggest 2 or more for larger loads.
My son was a boy scout. At the age of 13 he went to the National Jamboree for 2 weeks. Knowing he would need to do laundry without a machine I taught him how to handwash and sent him off with a bar of Fellsnaptha. His troop made a washing machine with a bucket and a plunger and took turns using it. Not my son, he got his own bucket and hand washed everything. "Mom, I was done way before everyone else and I was cleaner". He did a great job. This was a great video. I enjoy doing laundry and consider myself good at it and I learned some new tips!
Wow! That was the largest laundry aisle I’ve ever seen. I’m from a little bitty town and our Walmart doesn’t have even half of those options.😂
This is a Boop appreciation post. I love her. 🥰
I have a pile of laundry just waiting for me so this is perfect thank you Mary!!!
My laundry soap ran out , no biggy i used my shower gel .i m pleased with the results 😁 & was maybe cheaper .
Thank you for uploading still ❤ hope there’s a neighborhood update soon, they always crack me up and relax me 🤣
‘We were all beginners at some point’ is one of the most beautiful reminders I’ve ever heard. Thank you 🖤
You're so welcome!
We are in the sandhills and omg the sand stains are impossible too😂
I know this is so random but Mary girl they are finally building a biscuitville in my area, I live in the upstate of South Carolina but I was trying to figure out what the building was ganna be. They finally put the sign up. 😂
Honestly thank you for this I left the nest and I’ve had to learn how to do many things on my own.
My college boyfriend was clueless on all home chores. I asked, how/why did your parents not teach you?! He said that when he was first taught, he wasnt good at chores right away so his mom just did everything. That made me sad. Children need to learn, and parents need to be patient with their early struggles. I know i made plenty of crummy family dinners as a kid, but now i cook pretty well. I wonder if this happens in a lot of homes--parents giving up on making their children do chores properly.
Outstanding! 🫧🧺🧼🧦👖My favorite video❣️❣️❣️
I miss your walk through videos .. they’re my favorite
You should do more Dollar Tree videos! They are my absolute favorite, and put me to sleep right away. Love your content!
Love these real life tips topic videos, there are so many best practice things I somehow can’t hold in my head about daily chores like laundry, DIY, and cooking - thank you Mary!
I've tried three nights now to watch this and I can't get more than ten minutes in without falling asleep.
At this rate I might just have to buy new socks because my laundry is NEVER getting done.
I used to sort everything because my mom did. But now I do combine lights and darks together. I do not wash my whites with anything because I use some bleach. I wash towels and blankets together.
another thing I recommend as someone who doesn't sort my laundry is you can buy "color catchers" they look like dryer sheet but go in your washer and help with dye bleeds
I love you humor
How could you be doing laundry for 40yrs when you are just 35yrs old now?
LOL
one thing i see people do all the time is overfilling the washing machine. leaving enough room for the clothes to properly rinse is really important. another thing of note: fabric softener damages clothing. not saying anyone shouldn't use it if they like it, just be aware that you're going to notice your clothes degenerating faster. or, i guess if you've always been using it, there won't be a difference for you, but i realized after i stopped using it and stopped using too much detergent, my clothes started lasting a LOT longer. on the note of detergent, i've learned from professionals that you shouldn't be using more than 2 tablespoons for even the largest load you can fit in your machine. that was the game changer for me. i know it seems like more soap = more clean, but that's not technically how it works on a chemical level. hope that helps someone! :)
This is not only relaxing but also so so sweet
Well done Mary! Learned a lot and have on my list a lint lizard. So I totally know you were joking about “don’t dry your cat” but whoopsies I accidentally did that to my Siamese twenty years ago. We lived in Ohio and she loved warm places. While I was getting clothes out to hang she jumped in. I had no idea and closed the lid and turned it back on. I walked out and her a clunk clunk noise. My mom asked if I was drying shoes and I said no. She ran to the dryer, opened the door and out jumped the cat. Didn’t stop her from getting back in though 🤷♀️
Okay but why am I secretly excited to learn potential tips about doing the laundry even though I’ve been doing it since I was a kid 😂 Also, I would love another librarian video, but more focused on welcoming us to the community and showing us all the different services the library offers? Also you’ve done so many library videos so maybe you’ve already done this and I forgot/missed it, but you just have such a welcoming energy and I think it would be a great vid ❤
I bet you make all the guys go crazy over you ❤
I got so excited seeing the title😂 I always think there are hacks I don't know.
Momma Mary! Love this video ♥️
please please please keep making these types of videos
46:22 😊 i have the same washer/dryer 🧺with a few bells & whistles added. She went way above and beyond in this one. Thank you ❤💮💚
Exactly, personal preference.
The pods always get stuck to an item of clothing and never disintegrate. I dont know if its because we have a front loader, but i dont recommended them😂
The pods need to go in first, before the clothes. Maybe that helps :) But if you don't mind measuring, liquid or powder is great!
this is an act of service. :)
I learned today, I'm not the only one that wishes there laundry good luck LOL
Ironing, folding towels, filling dish washer…
Mary you are so cute! I love your white shirt and pretty necklace!! Xoxo
Thank you so much!
I'm Gen X and I've bought irons and ironing boards. I hate the new irons. I can't find a good one
This was very interesting, thank you. I even took some notes and stuck them on the wall. My clothes are now sparkly clean and smell great. Wait till I tell the kids.
"Dad, why is there a note in the laundry room saying 'Marry Me'?"
😂
I had no idea that fabric softener messes with moisture wicking fabric!!!
My gran also told me to never turn the nob anti-clockwise haha
To avoid color running add half a cup of table salt to the water
The laundry symbols...
I bought a guide , like a poster from Amazon for like $5. Very helpful reminder in the laundry room 😁
You’re seriously such a cool human
Thank you so much!
This is such a perfect video for you to do! You know the channel that is something about stuff you call your dad about? And the guy does stuff that dads help with. You’d be great for the mom version. My mom died when I was a teenager but she was never a great cook to begin with. You’ve taught me quite a bit about cooking. But also opened my eyes to tomato sandwiches and they.are.heaven.
Hey, I'm so sorry that your mom has died. There is a youtube channel, "Mom, how do I" and there is a similar type of stuff that Mary does. Hope it helps, and I hope u have a great day!
Edit: It turns out she has stopped youtube. There are some videos, but not that much
I've had two different washer repair technicians both tell me to avoid liquid detergents. It doesn't rinse away and covers the gears, gaskets, etc in a sort of gunk. They showed it to me when they had my washer apart. Liquid detergent is the biggest culprit of gumming up the workings of your washer and making it smell bad. After switching to powder I've had no issue with smells.
Fell asleep listening last night so I didn't hear your "not lot lizard" comment. 😂 I laughed so hard!
Love you!! So excited to see you post!
thank you for this! my mum died the other day and honestly my brain is struggling to function - I literally stood in front of my washing machine yesterday and couldn't remember what to put in which tray. do you have a beginners cooking series too? i'd love that!
So sorry about your mum! Yes, something like that definitely can scramble your brain for a while.
Lol I actually needed this
Great video thank you
I have the same dryer!
Love when I’m getting ready to wind down for the night and start your videos, it really helps me fall asleep 🥰
I love your videos so much I don't think I ever finished one, you put me to sleep in 10 minutes tops 😭
Thankyou perfect for uni 😊
Great video. Not sure who can afford to use a dryer these days but that might be just the UK, lol 😂😂
So relaxing i may watch again i keep nodding off.
I do laundry by pouring my entire laundry basket into the wash at once, pouring in detergent and turning the machine on. (my stuffs all black/dark colors and second hand anyway so it doesn't matter)
Having your clothes be mostly similar colors is very handy for the wash 😅 i used to have only a couple whites and didnt ever wear them cuz i didnt have enough for a whites load. But i realized that whites look very professional so i bought more and now i feel more comfortable wearing them cuz i know i can easily put together a whites load. But most of my clothes are darks 🤣
I’m with you Mary, I used to sort them, but not so much nowadays 🤪
We clean our dryer vent screen every 6 months or so with dish detergent, water and a soft bristle brush. (Remove lint first). Brush both sides well. Rinse with hot water and let dry completely before putting it back in the dryer.
I remember washing red pajamas i had just bought with my whites, and finding out colors bleed
Wow the laundry aisle is so different here in the UK. I haven't even heard of some of these brands.
They won't have heard of some of ours though, so it just doesn't matter 😂
So excited nobody taught this
