Lava is a small hamlet situated 30 km east of the town of Kalimpong through Algarah in Kalimpong district of the state of West Bengal. Situated at an altitude of 7,200 feet (2,195 m), Lava is home to wet Alpine forests dotted with trees like Fir, Pine and Birch. It is one of the few places in West Bengal to receive snow in winter. It is the entry point to the Neora Valley National Park from Kalimpong.
Lava is a small town situated en-route to the ancient Indo-China Silk route. The town has a pristine Buddhist Monastery which is the main attraction of this hilly hamlet. It also houses a High School established in 1985. Lava can be reached through Gorubathan from Damdim or Malbazar of Jalpaiguri District. Distance from Gorubathan is 50 kilometres. The Road is Wide, Smooth and full with Scenic Beauty in every turn. The new Road is Built by Border Roads Organisation (B.R.O.).
Other notable sites include Changey Waterfalls, Rache-La, Kolakham and Lava Kagyu Thek Chen Ling Monastery..

First of all I wish to say Thank you Tanmoy da for introducing us to Sinchula Homestay and more importantly Anupam Da. He is a gem of a person. If you are looking for a stay in Lava as if it were your home, go to Sinchula. Fantastic hospitality! I spent a couple of days there with my family. Enjoyed every bit of it Anupam da's team which consists of a well behaved sincere, small and modest group will easily win your heart with their constant desire and effort to make your stay very happy and memorable. I wish Anupam Da and Mousumi boudi who I did not have the privilege of meeting (she was in Kolkata) all the best in their business ventures always. Thank you and God bless!

@@mithubanerjee2191 শিলিগুড়ি থেকে লাভার উদ্দেশ্যে বাস ছাড়ে দুপুর 12 টা থেকে । সেটা করে চলে আসুন লাভাতে। এরপর পায়ে হেটে লাভা দেখুন লাভা খুব ছোট্ট জায়গা। দরকার পড়লে ছোট্ট একটা গাড়ি নিয়ে নেবেন।
