when he said, "let me grab my ukulele"... I knew this was a serious review
Ha-ha, absolutely! Love this comment.
I just ordered it directly from your link since you did an awesome job explaining all details I needed to know before making the choice. Thank you!
You provided the best and most informative review I've found, thank you for providing the information I was looking for
I used the JLab Talk USB video for our most recent Webcam Comparison video. And my wife has been using the JLab Go Work headset. She's digging it. Hopefully Call One, Inc. and Hello Direct, Inc. will start carrying JLab soon! Great review!
Thanks so much Danny and the Call One team! JLab for the money truly delivers. I still can't believe this podcast microphone is only $49 given most are $100+. The Blue Yeti is always recommended but doesn't sound as rich as the Go Talk in my opinion. Thanks for the comment!
super applical review, kudos 👍🏻
i feel like this with the krisp audio application would be perfect! thanks for the video
Of course! Thanks for the comment. The Krisp app is awesome.
Thank you for this review
Absolutely! I love this mic. What'd you think?
Nice. Im trying to use it for music recording and voice recording. It’ll do.
great microphone it is a must have to replace my cyber acoustic CVL-2005 microphone.
I agree with the professional use thing you mentioned all the way. I sadly had to turn a job down that I interviewed for in the midst of covid madness but my cousin who had me apply told me I nailed the interview and they specifically mentioned the presentation. Sounds like the most of the competition were using their smart phones or laptop mics/cams.
Great video though! I saw this mic on the shelf at walmart earlier and was curious how it sounded because of how good it looked and the decent layout of physical controls.
is there any program to use on Mac where you can tweak mic settings such as that cool bassy sound? And can i use it in discord?
What mic boom arm stand is that i want to get one for my JLAB Go Talk
When you hold down the scroll wheel it turns blue
I lost the box and instructions and i want to know what that mode does
What boom arm are you using? Can't seem to find one that fits the GoTalk.
Have you found one?
Im doing some voice recordings and I’m still unclear on what to do. I have a macbook pro which is supposed to have a “Studio Quality Microphone”. I have searched for reviews and bunch of people say it’s good and all but I’m not convinced of it myself. Idk if it’s the program I’m using (Garage Band) but it sounds a bit off, plus, if I talk a bit too loud it sounds all distorted as of I was screaming. I have no audio editing experience so maybe I’m doing something wrong. Should I get this mic? Or try another app?
[EDIT]: what were you using at the beginning of the video? It sounded very clear. I just need something that sounds nice and clear and to what I don’t have to fear raising my voice a bit and blowing up my speakers.
It's a Diety Lavalier microphone in the beginning. Yeah, no matter how good any company says their laptops mics are they are always horrible compared to a USB/Podcast microphone. Hands down I never get compliments with how I sound on a Macbook but always get compliments with a podcast microphone. For recording it's an absolutely must. Actually for ANYTHING regarding vocal quality it's a MUST to get a great microphone. This thing is a beast for the money.
@@TechOutAdam does this sound any better than the talk go?
With the mic monitoring using the 3.5mm jack on the back, can you also hear game/system audio or literally just your voice
game audio too
You can hear all audio sourced from your computer and your own voice. You can adjust the volume of the input as well. So if you're using this for gaming I'd highly recommend it for a budget microphone. Still works great till this day.
So is the new version worth the extra $15 or it is the same thing as the old model with the difference being a complete redesign. I am asking because the old model is on sale for $35 on Amazon and I am debating if I should get the old model or the new model of the Talk GO microphone.
I'd say the biggest difference is the shape. New version looks like it fits very nicely on your desk, whereas the original that I have can get in the way of my keyboard and mouse
I see. I have long returned this Mircophone due to Poor Quality control on the base and the random static. I ever since upgraded to Blue yeti nano and I had no issues.
Is the sound quality better than the talk go? Is it the same sound quality just a different design?
I reviewed the Talk Go and it's WAY better. They didn't play around. The Talk Go was good but it had way too much reverb if you spoke too close to the mic and you couldn't make any adjustments to the gain like you can here.
@@TechOutAdam thanks
What about backround noise u don't want do I mess with the gain and stuff
Hello! Can this microphone be put on a voice modulator, like Clown Voice Fisher? I hope you can answer me, thank you.
I've never used that but wouldn't doubt it.
Can i use this mic for music recording
What type of boom arm did you use for the microphone
It's one I got from Guitar Center. It's actually just a basic microphone stand that costs like $20. lol
Musician's Gear is the brand.
Just got this mic, what mic arm do you use?
Hi. What a type of arm of microphone you buy?? I need that.. i buy this microphone
It's one I got from Guitar Center. It's actually just a basic microphone stand that costs like $20. lol Musician's Gear is the brand.
Does this mic need a pop filter for vocals? Would it be appropriate for vocals?
Great review. I feel a bit disappointed by the mic myself. It looks great, has nice features and a good price point, but a few of fatal flaws.
1) My biggest complaint is the frequency response and natural EQ of this device. It has a large hump around the 500 - 600hz range that gives the speaker’s voice a nasally, boxy character. Although this is generally the range where the average human voice is most present, it’s for this reason it doesn’t need any help there. The mic could use a lot of help in the 100 - 200hz range that gives the “radio voice” sound.
2) Lack of proper ambient noise rejection. As you could hear on your demonstration, the cardioid is *not* unidirectional and does little to focus the sound. The omnidirectional setting is outright unusable in a setting with any background noise. You could use a gate to possibly get around this, but that defeats the purpose of a mic that is supposed to be convenient.
3) The location of mute button and controls. Although I am sure it would have increased the price, an external set of controls would have made this mic much more useful in a live setting. The buttons simply cannot be adjusted during a live conference call or interview as it sounds like an earthquake or a kick drum every time you turn a knob or hit a button.
For these reasons, I don’t think I will be keeping mine around. A small USB audio interface and an entry level condenser mic will be just a bit more in price, but far superior in quality and performance.
If JLab happens to read this comment, here’s my advice for the next iteration:
1) Redesign the diaphragm and circuitry to flatter the speaker’s voice.
2. Slightly reduce the size of the capsule and move the control panel outside the unit so it sits by itself on the desk/table via a ~3’ cable.
3) Include a pre-baked compressor /gate button or knob for noise rejection. Maybe this could be a deluxe model.
Just stole this from Walmart!
💀💀💀 me too 💀
Lmfao me too fella’s
Will this work with a phone?
Did you ever find this out
I have a question...
So I bought this mic a while back
And so It was working fine and it still is but I'm having a issue with the adjustment knob so you have the green light which indicates it adjusts the volume of your voice... So my issue is mine turned blue after I did a bios update for my motherboard how do I change it back does anyone know? Cuz when the light is on blue it adjusts the system volume 🤔 plz halp is there audio drivers I need to update or something. BTW my mother board is the msi b550m pro vdh wifi so if someone knows how to fix this plz lemme kno
If you still are having the issue, just hold the adjust button until it turns back green. Press and holding it switches between voice and system volumes.
@@corporalcreative9892 thanks I figured it out 😅
Hey❤
I have the JLab JBuds mic (more expensive than the mic in this video), and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. The audio in this video sounds much better than what I get out of my mic. I’m much closer to the mic than you are (I’m basically right on top of it), and I have to crank the gain up so high that I get tons of background hiss. Also it picks up bumps on the desk way worse than what was shown in this video. If I touch the mic at all, it is horribly loud. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.
You gotta tune that ukulele...
Hahaha bro it's still out of tune today.
mine didnt come with a stand
The little box stand? That's so weird. It absolutely should have.
