I am a product of the 80’s and walked around in a fog of hairspray. First mistake was not using Aqua Net. Second mistake was you needed about half the can. Just saying for accuracy. 😂🤣

Holding your head upside down while blow drying it helps to put up the volume :)
The secret to 80s hair is hair mousse, hair gel, hairspray and backcombing like there is no tomorrow. Once you reach the stage when your hair is about a fall out, use enough hairspray to burn a hole in the ozone layer and then add a bit more for luck. 🦹🏼♀️

Arcudi Elizabeth it’s literally a Conair Hairdryer. You can find it on amazon for $15. black women have been using it for years lol. It helps dry and straighten hair relatively easily. I imagine if you blow dried it like Devin did you’d get volume. it is IDENTICAL to this except silver/gray.

Ahh I remember those steps...You 1) wash/wet your hair. 2) Add mouse. 3) dry your hair upside down (nose heading towards knees), especially working to get the parts you want straight (Iike the first 1-2 inches of bangs), scrunching the rest, 4) tease as needed, 5) hairspray the bangs and sides, using a comb to tease to get the column, 6) take curling to either add curl or straighten, as needed. The most popular styles were like those seen in the movie Heathers. Signed - a gal who was in high school and college in the 80’s. P.S. Love the video and your channel

In the 80s, my daughters called me "The Hair Bear". And yes, I had the Speed Styler! When people asked me how I styled my hair, I would say, "I tease it until it gets good and mad, then I spray it." True story. PS: Paul Mitchell Sculpting Spray. Period.

I was a teen in the 80's and yes I did have a hair dryer like that but there are tricks on getting your hair to stand up and it is much more involved..lol. I applaud your efforts. On another note is there something going on with Ladylike? I hardly see you all together these days. Or is everyone doing other projects now?

I used to have a more modern version of that, it overheats so often you basically cannot turn it off while you are drying your hair (not ever). It took hours to dry my hair!

OMG. U gotta love looking back on the 80s. Crimping hair, under shave or shaved on the side, I've oddly seen the before, I think it was on my mom or aunt's vanity table circa 1984ish. My fave from the 80s was Nexus wet look styling product,it was perfect for me and I miss it so much but I know it isn't ever coming back. Spry in hair color that we loved and if we could we would stock up on it in winter so we could have it in summer cause we couldn't buy it.

OMG I love this!! Also I'm 33 and totally remember my mom having that speed styler! So thank you for bringing back some wonderful memories of watching my mom do her hair 🤗 also Devin, if you're seriously trying to achieve more volume I recommend using Living Proof "Full Dry Volume Blast", it's amazing! I too suffer from not having a lot of volume, but this helps a lot and also helps keep the volume for longer periods of time. Anyway, love this video and luv you too!! ♥️

I was born in 1985 and I think that those 80s hairstyles would still look today. Kids today may think that it'd look funny, but there's nothing wrong with the hairstyles from that decade. In my opinion, we should bring those back.

ok, as a teenager in the 80's, the key to rocking my john taylor ala duran duran style was the regular blowdryer, sometimes hair crimper styling tool but most importantly was the hairspray called ice mist, that stuff was like spraying liquid cement in your hair.....it would hold the finest hair in place in any direction until you shampoo'd it out.....rock solid
