‘WandaVision's’ Elizabeth Olsen Reveals How She Transformed For Every Episode

  • Elizabeth Olsen's big-screen portrayal of Marvel's Scarlett Witch led the franchise's foray onto Disney Plus with the actor's starring role for the small-screen series "WandaVision."
The spinoff sees Olsen reprising her character alongside Paul Bettany's Vision, as the duo is seemingly stuck inside various classic sitcoms, seemingly unaware as to how they got there or why. Each episode jumps into a new decade stuffed with sitcom-centric characters, clothes and gags. But the real treat is how Olsen seamlessly leaps from Mary Tyler Moore housewife to "Brady Bunch" channeling lead.
Olsen breaks down her process of decade leaping acting, and uncover everything she learned at the "sitcom bootcamp."

She really is probably the character/person i look forward to seeing the most in mcu properties right now (considering downey/johannsen left) .. although at least it looks like we'll get Evans a bit more.. but yeah.. she is very down to earth (at least it feels so) and she has an uncommon/unique beauty.

Also probably because he merged her sound and his sound. So he wanted there to be less editing. His voice sounds crisper than hers. Due to different editing recording tools. I love these types of interviews where time is limitless per say. Gives them time to flesh out her explanation.

Wanda has had a lot of trauma in her life. I think people seem to forget that. Her parents died, her brother died, her lover died. It's really tragic. I find it really interesting how Wandavision seems to be a commentary on her grief and pain and how she deals with that and how she just longs for a normal life.

Wonderful to hear her talking about her acting process, particularly how she creates what I call a nuanced performance, with 2 or more layers of feeling being expressed simultaneously. Also interesting is how she attributes more collaborative energy on set to women being in charge. While I think anyone as a spiritual being is potentially capable of developing any attribute (when you are out-of-body, you have no genitals or skin color, etc.), on average, women are more likely to be collaborative. I am so glad we are past the era when it considered heretical to notice that men and women tend to act differently. Elizabeth Olsen is a great actress and I am sure we will see much more great work from her.

One thing about the character's trauma that they kind of gloss over is losing her parents, because 1 word, "Stark." The way she said it in Age of Ultron pretty much said it all. Then, the next time we see them in the same room is when Thunderbolt Ross hands HER the Sokovia Accords. (You know, the one Sokovian at the table.) At some point, she reconciles with Tony, who she blamed for killing her parents, and kinda created the killbot that kinda destroyed her home. I'm just saying, somehow she didn't turn out like Zemo. And I would have kinda liked to see how he pulled that one off. Considering the fact that she can practically will him out of existence.

Wanda, and Vision had 1 fight, where she literally Buried him. Not really a fight, because Vision was powerless to fight back. Thanos had to order "Rain fire" to keep her from killing him in revenge. "You took everything from me." Thanos did? Not Ironman, Thanos took everything from her? She could lose her temper, and disintegrate the Hulkbuster. Just like that, and they just skip past that character shaping conflict between episode 2, and episode 2.5.
