This is indeed a true example of an oil that bears bold strokes, without the overworked and over polished look. It's a piece that's worth looking at many times. It strikes at first glance. Again thank you Clare for that!

Thanks for sharing Clare. Your explanation and advice on the darkest darks are extremely helpful. Please share a video on how you paint with a palette knife
So glad it’s helpful Alaudin. I use the palette knife as a tool to mix my paint and scrape off areas of paint. Not so much to add to it. Sorry about that 😌

Hi Clare, I love your videos (think I mentioned that before 😁) . Not only do I watch them to get inspiration for my own painting journey that I started only a very short while ago, I also play your videos in the background when I am in my studio painting or working on my photography (postprocessing, printing, matting etc). I am getting ready to "attempt" some plein air painting myself..... will have to force myself to not get consumed by details... Again, great stuff, I love it !!

Don’t worry about video so much as the music keep cutting in and out. Or figure a better integrated sound track . Simplicity is best and following the brush strokes with your voice was very pleasing.

Thank you Richard. I often treat a studio painting as though it were a plein air. With no time to fuss or procrastinate!
Maybe try setting a timer for a length of time to do your painting and stick to it! ☺️🎨

What a beautify painting! I'm a bit baffled how you can get away with painting around those patches of seaweed on the beach without the sand getting polluted with the green colour. The bane of my life is pristine sky turning green because I tried to paint around some foliage.
Good question! If you load the brush and hold the angle close to the painting so it doesn't mix what's underneath it. Hope that makes sense?

Thanks so much Richard! I like watching this video style too as you get to see the brush strokes as they happen. Not double speed! But please excuse as I will have some Timelapse’s on my channel as they work well as Shorts. And some people do prefer them. I aim to have a mixtures of videos. With best wishes Clare

@@ClareBowenArtist Watercolour has been my 'bag' over the past....years. A bit late in life to start now, But, I m looking forward to 'Learning about the art and ins and outs of Oil painting! A very different beast, and so counter to the application of watercolour.
