- Hotel Kawakyu is one of the most extravagant hotels in Japan! Situated on the coast of Wakayama Prefecture, its unique architecture makes it stand out for miles. One of its most impressive features is its gold-leaf ceiling, which actually holds a Guinness Record for being the largest in the world!
Opening in 1991, the construction cost totalled $400,000,000. Literally, every brick and tile used was imported from various sources all across the globe to create one of the most visually striking pieces of architecture in Japan.

Absolutely incredible! I know where I’ll be staying on my next trip to Japan! By the time the borders open up I’ll hopefully have saved enough to stay here….but probably not lol maybe I’ll stick to the capsule hotels for now.
I hope you could also feature the museum in Tokushima where European artworks are housed. That region needs a tourism boost.
