  • The Outdoors with Carl Allen presents: Walker's Cay [S1E5]
Walker's Cay is where the Bonefish meet the Blue Marlin & there is everything in between. Carl & Gigi Allen have a mission to restore the legendary island not only for the generations past that have enjoyed it, but also for a new generation that, until now, haven't had the opportunity to enjoy.

During the late 60s and 70s I was the guest of the Abplanalp family. What an honor celebrating a Mass for the island guests. I remember the times when the the then President Richard Nixon would visit Mr. And Mrs. Abplanalp. Surely Bob, a man of so many ideas for the Bahamas, especially “Walkers”. And no doubt “bone fish Johnny” must be very happy. Thanks for
Introducing me to this new production and your desire to keep a chapel there. Fr. Milt

I hope they bring a quality dive operation to Walkers. Took my 16 year old daughter there to get her Advanced Open Water rating. That was some of the best diving that I've ever done. So glad to see this beautiful island coming back to life.

The construction should really be “tilt up” concrete construction because it will with stand hurricanes. I’ve stayed and fished walkers back in the early 1990s and it was awesome!

This is great to see, Walker's getting a new life. I made two trips to Walker's, one in I believe 1997 and again in 2004. These were dive trips. I knew about the legendary fishing there, but the diving was top-notch as well. With many years of diving behind me, the Shark Rodeo dive at Walker's has always held a special place in my diving memories. Good luck to you Mr and Mrs Allen, I hope to visit you out there in the future.

I went there with a group of friends in the mid-2000’s. Me and the boats owner went up to the bar on top of the hill and got smashed while the boys cracked conch and prepared dinner. Only after I woke up the next day, I realized that I had the tougher job - keeping the old man happy - I was the human chum slick all day.

Just found you’re Utube channel and what memories I had. I lived next door to Chuck Jelkie who had the boat Island Trader (I think that was the name) and also on our canal in Boca was the Born Free that was Joe Currans boat. They both would go to Walkers a lot and as a high school kid got to earn money by cleaning boats and mate. Do you remember either one of them?
