I had one here in Brazil. I sold it to help me buy a SIG (that is very expensive here in Brazil) for my personal defense. But I'm considering buy another one again, for IPSC runs, since my intention is to use something more affordable due to the wear over shooting it too much. It's a great pistol, but mind it was never design to be a conceal carry. It's a better pistol than the G3 BY FAR. Best recoil, best trigger and best handling. The small ejection port really scares at the beginning, but if you be a little more careful when choosing you ammo (this isn't exactly a problem in USA, but here we depend too much on cheaper reloaded ammo), it will not jam easily. All the problems i had with my old pistol was with cheap reloaded ammo. The projectiles was too large, it was not feeding properly.

I just bought a Taurus TS9 (made in Brazil, imported by Taurus Georgia, USA) with the Wilhelm Bubits mechanical design, 4" compact barrel, full size 17rd capacity, similar in dimensions to the Glock 45 9mm, two 17rd 9mm mags, very good trigger, excellent grip texture, reduced barrel tilt due to rearward barrel-to-slide lockup for better feeding, 4 different back straps, uses affordable easy to find Taurus TH9 17rd mags, fully ambidextrous mag release and slide release, unusual foreign manual safety deleted in US model, metal 3 dot sights, tactile loaded chamber indicator, 3 slot accessory rail, no optics cut, tallest extractor claw I have ever seen, perfect extractor tension, great grip feel, very low bore axis, deep trigger guard undercut, easy unique take down, no “Glock gap” between slide/frame or slide end cap, dual captured recoil spring, passed a 20,000rd torture test and was adopted as a Philippines service pistol. Limited release in US from a government contract overrun. Bought the only one in my area. $399 new. Outstanding value and high quality throughout. The mag’s top round points at the chamber due to the reduced barrel tilt (although not quite as good as a Beretta rotating barrel system). The smooth feeding geometry and controlled extraction/ejection means this design has reliability advantages. Probably Taurus' best pistol, but not generally available. Buy one if you get the chance. TH9/TS9 17rd mags are in stock online.
Update: My TH9 17rd mags from MidwayUSA are on the way, but now I have heard conflicting info about TH9/TS9 mag compatibility. One CZcamsr says his old TH9 mags are too short for the TS9. The Taurus sells TH9/TS9 mags under the same SKU as do several online retailers who sell them as TH9/TS9 compatible. So don't take my word on it yet. I will update once they come in.
Update #2: My Taurus TH9 17rd mags from MidwayUSA came in (SKU: 358-0009-01) and they fit and feed perfectly in my Taurus TS9, are reasonably priced (I went with Midway out of familiarity but have seen them for less elsewhere), are made in Italy by Mec-Gar (considered the best), are identical to the two mags that shipped with my new TS9, and are made with snag-free seamless tube construction. This is good news because TS9 pistols are new to the US market and hard to find, but compatible 17rd TH9 mags have been generally available online for probably 10 years.

I got a TS9, bought it locally for about $100 less than MSRP, it was the only one they had. Excellent pistol on first inspection. Definitely a duty pistol. I haven't shot it yet. I have no idea if we will see more come into the US, so if you want one, grab one now before they are gone. The darn thing feels like a BB6 to some extent when racking it and dry firing it.
I contacted Taurus about a spare recoil assembly, they say no parts available in the US. I contacted Lakeline and they don't have them, and have no plans for the moment to produce them. I just like to keep spares on hand. It takes the same mags as the TH9, so I will pick up a few spare mags. By the way, the Taurus Tactical (LEO) catalog does show a TS9C, a compact version. You can download a PDF of that catalog. I do wonder if we will ever see the compact in the US.
This is a serious pistol, but somewhat obscure in the US. When I bought mine there was a Ruger rep there trying to sell Rugers. Nice guy, but he didn't even seem familiar with his own product. I told him I just bought the only TS9 in the house and wasn't prepared to buy a second pistol that day. He looked confused. When I told him it was a Bubits design he looked unconfused. LOL!

@@LWRoad Yes, retired as far as I know. But I believe his son is picking it up. I know they were working on importing the Bubix Bro to the US, but then it just sort of fell off the radar. The first version was the TM-9, and it was released as the Schmeisser SLP-9 as well (only one is in the US I am aware of). There is also a compact TM-9 available outside the US that was never available in the US. I am thinking there is a design commonality between the Tara and the Echelon, especially because I know that Tara did not design the pistol (it was not Bubits). After the TX22 being "gun of the year" in 2019 it seems like the TS9 should be given an opportunity to be sold in the US, especially with Taurus' surge in popularity. If Taurus doesn't release it in the US very soon, it would seem like there may be undisclosed issues with the design and they don't want to have it hit US shooters hands. @@LWRoad My pleasure. You cover the kind of unique and value added products I love
TP9DA, Taurus 605 Poly, 111G2. All would rest my life on if it came to it. Haven’t hiccuped yet.
Thanks for keeping it real and the wealth of knowledge and research you share. It’s insp/aspirational!

I would think it has nothing to do about nothing too. That Design is very nice and should ad Greatly to the Taurus lineup. I wonder did Walther PDP design was inspired by the Taurus TS9 to me they look to have very similar lines. I have been waiting for the pistol to be sold here USA for a while now. Taurus current line is proving to be as good as othe know brands and very reliable too. Am also hoping they would do away with the re-strike trigger in favor of a shorter stroke lighter trigger but with the excellent reset their current triggers have.

Brazil just outlawed handguns, so now Taurus is using the US market to deplete that stock. I'm sorry but the G3 is still a better option

Oh I'm quite certain there definitely a bias. God forbid we could have a better pistol design than from all the other big gun makers and from TAURUS at that.

I WILL HAVE one of those IF they are Released here in USA... C'MON TAURUS just get the OPTIC PLATE on it... HOWEVER as far as kimber.. I wouldn't even by a GLOCK if they just came with ONE MAG.

I would carry a slingshot, or big stick as my duty weapon, before I would carry a taurus firearm. The model I have seen is more then a glock, by 100 dollars. Almost 200 more then the base m&p
