I have owned labs and work with them. This isn't a "good looking" lab. No waist line. A healthy lab you should be able to feel their ribs by gently pressing down.

Diet should be something you pay attention and adapt it to factors such as age, sterilization and energy needs. 3. Obesse doesn't necesarily means unhappy you can see it in humans. The difference is that we consciously choose to eat bad, but our pets cannot understand the consecuences. It is our responsability as owners to care for them.

Sometimes dog is a food thief, being a lab I'm sure he will snag a snack. This bothers me way less than to see ribs and bones along with whatever other neglect and abuse people still can put animals through. Seriously, happy dog happy life I'm ok with it. Does your dog often sound like that when panting? I only ask because my dog used to do the same thing in her twilight years and it was because her throat was paralyzed in certain parts and so she had to work harder to breathe, especially when stressed, excited, exercising, etc. It's something that can happen to dogs as they get older. Ya'll are uninformed. This is an english lab and in decent to excellent health. They ain't supposed to be skinny like american labs.

Does your dog often sound like that when panting?
I only ask because my dog used to do the same thing in her twilight years and it was because her throat was paralyzed in certain parts and so she had to work harder to breathe, especially when stressed, excited, exercising, etc. It's something that can happen to dogs as they get older.

@@crappyaccount American Labs are lean and athletic. English Labs are giant couch potatoes to just love cuddling. Jasper is and English Lab, his weight is perfectly normal and healthy for his breed. The OP said that in a different comment under someone else's. If he was skinny, he would be underweight. He's also part Mastiff. uwu
They're perfectly healthy, they're just muscly according to their vet.
