You're one of the few people I've watched that can objectively alter their opinion as they're receiving new information, despite being heavily biased in the negative beforehand.
He often gets mentioned as the 4th-5th best SG of all time, when he could've been in the discussion with Kobe and Jordan for the top spot if he partied less. He was so good he could show up after being out all night and still play 40 minutes at a good-great level at full speed on any given night. Shaq and AI are the main reason the NBA allowed teams to start playing zone defense. Shaq was too big and AI was too quick (even for the other shorter guys).
He was also the 1st athlete to really make sneaker commercials mini-music videos in a way nobody else did with the A5 and A6 sneakers (him and Jadakiss set a new precedent for bringing Hip Hop and Black culture into the NBA). There was a timespan when a large percentage of kids used to have the Iverson A3's, 4's, 5's or 6's on their Christmas wishlists over Jordans (to put his popularity in perspective).
The Pacers (Reggie Miller tortured us in the playoffs religiously from 99-00), the Raptors (Vince Carter was a cheat code at the time like his cousin T-Mac), and the Bucks (Ray Allen, Sam Cassell and Glenn Robinson and the crew actually averaged more PPG than the Lakers that year, but our defense was crazy) were better overall teams on paper, but AI was just on some video game stuff dropping 40 or 50 every other night. 20-30 points felt like an off night for him.....that's how broken he was during his prime.
By the time he fully matured mentally, his knees started to become a problem (even though he was still cooking in Denver with Melo). It was sadly hilarious watching you go through the emotional anguish that every Philly fan has gone through lol, thinking about what could've been with him (even though he's still in the Hall of Fame).
