      The worst was that overrule against Pliskova last year, as she hit a smash that was clearly in and her opponent cheated pretending she didn't see it.

      The worst overrules were Serena vs Capriati on 3 different occasions in the final set of their ‘04 US Open quarterfinal, which introduced Hawkeye shortly following that match.

      Nowhere near the worst call of all time. Gosh, there's been calls far worse. It was probably out but the umpire should not have called it. Too close. At love-15 with his serve, Roddick should have won that game. Still, he wouldn't have beaten Pete. Roddick would have won four or more majors in most eras. Hewitt, three or four too.

    i've seen a shit load of tennis matches in my days, and I gotta say, thats the worst over rule of all time. Roddick's "anger" was I think under the top, I would done a lot more than that with as stupid a call as that one, it creamed the line and some of the inside court. LOL

    • @CarlKrammity
      @CarlKrammity Před 6 lety +4

      Completely agree. I've been following the sport closely since '03, watched hundreds of matches, and given the stage of the match and the tournament, this is the single worst call I've ever seen. Even though I've watched this clip several times before, it still shocks me to see him overrule a far sideline ball at 4-5 in the 5th. It is almost a criminal interference in the outcome of this match.

    • @asantesamuel13
      @asantesamuel13 Před 2 lety

      The overrule in Serena's QF against Capriati was way worse. The ball was an inch and a half INSIDE the line and on the far sideline from the umpire. It was unreal how bad of a call that was. And then she got two more bad overrules after that. This was indeed a bad overrule but it may have actually been out, you'd need Hawkeye to know for sure, but Serena's ball was like a clean winner inside the line and the umpire overruled it. Bonkers!
