It isn't in Taiwan, but in Taipei that it rains very often. In fact the weather in Southern Taiwan is almost sunny all year round and the rainfall in Central Taiwan is also much less than that in Taipei. About 300 years ago Taipei basin was a lake and the indigenous people used to live in the brim of the lake. With the increasing number of immigrants people began to dredge the Temsway River and discharge the water into the river. As a result Taipei develops into a metropolis today.
People here tend to eat food from their own pot not because they don't want to share their food but because it's more hygienic than sharing food from the same pot.
