This isn't "past life memories". He likely lost most of his memory of English from the impact.
It takes one Google search to see that the most commonly spoken non-English language in Atlanta is Spanish - which is the city he was airlifted to. It's a well known fact that people can hear what people are saying during a coma. He probably took a lot of context clues and his light knowledge of Spanish that he supposedly already had, and ended up learning how to speak the language fluently. Since he couldn't remember how to speak English, he spoke Spanish instead.

I am glad he is okay. This happens often where people will enter a coma or become "locked in" and when they return to a normal consciousness, they speak in a unknown tongue. I think this is QUITE FASCINATING and certainly an area in medicine worthy of extensive study.
