I don't know how big you are into the brill building sound of someone like carole king but since you’re into jazz one of my favorite and most influential artists is Laura Nyro who makes jazz pop soul and influenced elton John, joni Mitchell and fiona apple. New York Tenderberry and Eli and the 13th Confession are my favorite. Also, if you enjoy kate bush and fiona apple I think you'd enjoy tori amos (I like her first 7 albums but From the Choirgirl Hotel and Little Earthquakes are my favorite).
do you know Juana Molina? She's a great argentinian singer-songwriter that makes some great folktronica and art pop. I don't like to do this kind of comparison, but some say she is the argenitinian Bjork. I love her album "Segundo", it's so sweet and interesting.
