- I know this may be obvious to a lot of you but some people don't know the difference between a Ceramic coating and paint protection film so in this video I have Tyler from Dynamic Tint explain the difference and who each application is best for. Let me know what questions you have!

Thanks for the video man. I been here since before you bought the Tesla. Nice to see the channel growth. Keep going!
That was very helpful. Thanks!
Definitely getting the PPF on the full front of the model 3. I am actually dropping of the car Monday to get the PPF and tint done by Dynamic Tint. Can’t wait to have the protection. Tyler is definitely great at what he does!
awesome! was thinking about doing the doors to avoid keying? how much are they charging you...
@@Adrian-qm4bg the full frontal on the model 3 was $1800. Just got it back today. They did an incredible job! Top notch! They are definitely the best here in the Phoenix area! Definitely get your car protected from Tyler. We are going to be getting the rest of the car done later on.
@@allturbo98 niceee!
I had no idea what the difference was. Thanks!
Thank you. That cleared up a lot for me.
Awesome info! I'm in Tucson, and with your recommendation, I will definitely head up to Tempe to DT for this.
Good info. Thanks man!
You got it! Thanks for watching
Gjeebs…. Good vid… I’ve been tuning for a minute, and enjoy your vids. As I was watching I thought about a video you haven’t done, and frankly something that doesn’t get spoken a lot about with Tesla. THE SOUND SYSTEM… I have a 2021 Model Y Longe Range and the system is by far awesome. Thoughts! Keep up the good work.
If you make a video shout me out! Lol ✌🏾 CA Fan
I agree the sound system is unreal. I’ve mentioned it in previous videos but I don’t think I could dedicate a whole video to it
Getting a Model Y soon. Very helpful. Thanks.
This is slightly off topic but any thoughts on Clearplex for protecting the 1/4 window panel? Seems like that's a favorite window breaking area for thieves to get into the trunk or the car. Curious what Tyler thinks as well.
I appreciate your content and value your opinions on products. What appeals the most to me is how your car looks for the time you have owned it. Keep doing what you do! As a female I have cleaned my car never cared in the long-term. A Tesla however is an investment and I definitely want to protect it. I recently wondered the difference between the two options. Thanks again..... Interested in the price as i recently was quoted. I know I could have asked the difference at the company I spoke with but hung up and realized I had forgot to ask.😬
Glad you like the content! Also I can't say that I recommend spending over 5k to have the entire car done but a lot of people like to be totally protected. If I were giving you advice as a friend I would say the full front is the best option (bumper, hood, quarter panels, headlights, mirrors). That's just me doing that alone is like 1700 ish and then tint would be more depending on what you get.
Yea cars arnt investments unless youre Leno or Seinfeld...
Thanks for the video! How long would you say the process takes to get the PPF installed? Getting our MY next month and definitely getting this PPF!
Takes a day or half day. It has to sit in the shop for a day usually after complete so it sets correctly. You can’t take it directly into the sun because it will boil the ppf
These videos about Dynamic Tint make me want to road trip my ST from central PA to get out there and use the shop for tint and PPF. If money wasn't a hold up, I'd probably do it. I guess I'm messing up by not having my own channel with almost 45,000+ subscribers to fund the trip!
Go to blackout tinting in Latrobe PA my buddy josh owns it and they do amazing work
@@Gjeebs I have their channel subscribed too. It's a consideration for sure, I've seen what they do and it's just as damn good. My old roommate lives in your area now, so I have dual purpose for a road trip, if the time ever comes for it. If I have my way, it'll be the ultimate road trip and I move out there too.
Thanks Gjeebs, would you recommend doing 12 or 24" PPF on the hood on a red MYP?
I would cover the entire hood
how much did it set you back?
Definitely worth the money for front bumper ppf. But the whole car? Not for me. I was quoted like $2-3K on ppf for entire car
Thats cheap for the whole car but I agree you only need the front (bumper, hood, quarter panels, headlights, mirrors)
Wow! I wish I had that quote. Looking at $6000 here in California for full ppf. Prob just do front and maybe door panels. Still deciding
@@jenniferarabian8136 Do it yourself find a CZcams video and save a couple thousand dollars it’s not rocket science
Here is Northern VA going to get the front clip. Hood fenders bumper and mirror caps on MDL 3 $1995. Whole car is $5400.
Just did front bumper, front lights, and lower door bottom. Install wasnt too bad so far spent $400 I do have prior experience with install on different cars. Waiting on hood, fenders, and morrors. Another $150ish spent
Great video Gjeebs! Here I went thinking ceramic coating was way better
Thank you! Yea just two very different options. Personally I think PPF is more effective and ceramic just make your car easier to keep clean if you are willing to hand wash.
Hey gjeebs
Can you do both? What would be better ceramic and then ppf or ppf then ceramic? Apologize if you answered the question already. I didn’t see it if it was was.
Yes you can do both and it’s always ppf then ceramic otherwise the PPF wouldn’t stick
Hello . Brand new to tesla here . Do I really have ppf or ceramic coat a tesla ? I’ve owned multiple luxury vehicles and never did any of these treatments and they seemed to last fine . In your honest recommendation do I need any of these treatments? Also can I use a normal car wash for a tesla ? Thanks v much
No you don't have to do any of this and yes you can run it through a car wash (it has a carwash mode) I am just showing all of the things you can do
Tesla needs to have this done at the factory. Then it would be great that when you get your car it’s all done
Takes too long and they wouldn’t do a good job. I would never get something like this done from the factory
@@Gjeebs car paint also has to sit on a car for 2-6 weeks (depending on who you ask) before this can be applied without pulling the paint. Tesla tries to get cars out the door too fast to be able to offer something like this.
Damn
How much u pay for the ppf
I'm in NorCal and was quoted $2200-$2500 for partial-full front PPF or clearbra (lights included).
full front (bumper, hood, quarter panels, headlights, mirrors) is in the 1700-2500 range and then tint is a little more. It depends on where you go. If you are in Arizona go to Dynamic Tint because he does the best work
If you have a wrap, is it the same as a clear coat or is it better?
Totally different. All cars come with a clear coat
@@Gjeebs sorry I meant the difference between a clear coat and a coloured wrap with a ceramic coat. Do they offer the same protection or is one better than the other?
A colored wrap offers very little protection and is not self healing. That’s just for look not for protection
@@Gjeebs many thanks.
Hey Gjeebs, do you think people who ordered a M3 in Q3 will see their delivery dates for Q4 pushed back due to the Hurtz deal?
I don't think you will see a delay if you ordered before they did
Hertz* and nothing's signed....
My 1st question is HOW MUCH?
Good comparison. PPF is still overkill IMO. You will never get your money back on it. PPF won't net you thousands back on your trade in and if you are ever in a wreck you'll have to get PPF installed again because most likely insurance will not cover it.
Sheeshhhh!!!!!
Honestly if you're spending so much money on a car, and plans to keep it for a long time you should consider doing this or at the very least a full front. Tesla factory paint is probably one of the cheapest compared to other manufacturers so having another layer is a must.
Wow, the same situation my husband and I were in. I chose PPF while my husband just wanted a ceramic coating. We haven't decided yet but I might show him your video to change his mind. #LGBTQ #TeslaLove #ElectriQueer
Yea If I were to pick I would choose PPF but you can also get PPF and have a ceramic coat on top. Up to you
So PPF if you’re dedicated towards good cleaning habits…and ceramic coating will benefit lazy bastards like myself who want cleaning to be EASIER??
People who say it isn’t worth it are too cheap or broke
It's not worth it (said from my MY).
Gjeebs - Sadly you’ve become yet another CZcams product marketing pimp. I understand that content providers need income and I get that you quite your job, but seriously, your constant hawking of products has become frankly tiresomeand insulting to viewers. I suggest you come up with some real value added content other than the shameless promotion of the companies providing you with free and special deals. I enjoy your humor but not this stuff.
Hey Randall I can see how this video came off as me pushing product but it isn't sponsored at all. I get this question e-mailed to me a lot and DM'ed so I felt there was a need for the explanation. With other sponsors on my videos I feel like they are relevant to the content and either fill a need or will save you money. If it's too much just don't watch
I would just like to add that, if you own a detail shop, and you were asked what is the best product for protecting my cars paint. Would you say, well I don't want to push a product on you in fear of seeming like a sell out to a certain company. Or would you give your customer(viewers) the best advice you can give to help protect that paint? If I buy or even if I am gifted a product and it is a wonderful product. I will tell anyone that is interested in it that it is well worth the money. I respectfully disagree with you, from one Randall to another. 😁
