His "explanations" are really interesting from a sociological perspective. People will often believe something that doesn't make sense if you say it with enough confidence and use big words to obfuscate what you're saying. This is how people are so easily conned by phony products. It's not about being right, its about seeming like you're right.

I was concerned when Michael handed him the butterfly. If it were me, I'd want to rip and squish it up to investigate the ink more closely.

This trick is actually trivially simple to pull off. The image on the paper is actually a vinyl decal that comes off with just a bit of pressure, so it's safe to touch but when he slides his thumb across it during the final fold, it will slip right off into his palm, where he hides it and, once the man's attention is elsewhere, drops it into his pocket. Then it's just a matter of planting someone in the delivery room of the local hospital in 1965 to inject the special serum into the infant so that when he comes to the mall 50-something years later, he will effortlessly beam a living butterfly onto the blank paper with his mind-vision. I mean, someone does this trick literally every single day.

He switched the first card with another one with a hibernating butterfly and the warmth from his hand made it wake up. The reason its not flying is that its blod is still cold and its moving its wings to warm them to fly. Check out some nature programs about it and you will see.

This is known as a camera trick, which in fact, when the camera angles or pans, they replace it with something else. Quite common in magic, especially on TV.

How egotistical do you have to be to take animals out of their natural habitat, traumatise them by keeping them in confined places and exposing them to artificial noise, aircon, lighting and the risk of injury. Its too bad that they cutout their slight of hand from their show. If you notice the card has a bump in the middle but only after the third time its shown after its folded. The first piece is just a paper with some fabric glued to it, the second is a butterfly in hibernation which they do when being too cold. When the heat from this hands slowly heats it, it comes alive. Just really hard to see because they cut out the part where he switches the paper.
