Mam Tor Circular Hike Peak District National Park

Mamtor Circular hike is a 5 mile’s hike/walk from Castleton to Back Tor. This is known to be one of the best and beautiful ridge walks in the country. The hike starts at main car park at Castleton and passes both treak cliff and blue john cavern.
From Castleton this walk takes you to the summit of Mam Tor, also known as the ‘Shivering Mountain’ ‘Mother Hill’ it is a 517metre high hill near castleton. the views from the top of Mam Tor are some of the best in the country and iconic in Peak District landscape photography.Mam Tor sits on the edge of the Dark Peak (gritstone) and the White Peak (limestone) which means you get some fantastic views of the limestone parts of the National Park, such as the dry gorge of Winnats Pass.
From Mam tor , take a walk to The Great Ridge ( this one of the most loved ridge walks in the peak district. This ridge walk offers amazing views of Edale, Hope Valley, and the edge of Kinder Scout in the beautiful Peak District National Park. It is very popular and well paved ridged walk. The Great Ridge runs for approximately 3 km from Mam Tor to Lose Hill .
Continue the walk to Back Tor until you reach the summit. Back tor gives you the amazing view of Mam Tor, The Great Ridge, Loose Hill and the surrounding villages.
