    Robin Finck and Alessandro Cortini of Nine Inch Nails detail their high-tech rigs that include a formidable army of custom axes, sophisticated wireless MIDI and digital presets paired with analog effects, all streamlined to help them create intricate, scorching industrial rock soundscapes.
    Reverend guitars have become Robin Finck’s go-to 6-strings in the past year. This wine red flame-maple Sensei has Joe Naylor Railhammer pickups, a bass contour for molding pickup voice, and a stoptail bridge.
    Robin Finck’s favorite Reverend model is the Charger with Humcutter pickups, a bass contour, and stoptail bridge. This is Finck’s No. 1 personal guitar, which he plays in the hotel, dressing room, and on the bus. He has a gray version at home.
    Alessandro Cortini has played synthesizers with NIN in the past, but on this tour he’s playing both guitar and bass. Cortini plays in two tunings during the current NIN set: standard and drop D. His main bass in standard is a custom Telemaster bass, which is the first one Fender has ever built. It has Jazz and Precision pickups and a unique blue relic finish.

    Although I was frustrated a little at the pace of the first interview, I am wondering whether it was done on purpose; Robin is known to be a very private and shy guy, and maybe Tessa figured that the more space she gave him, the more comfortable he'd feel. The social interaction around the 6 minute mark when Tessa asks the very intelligent and personal question, “Isn’t that one of your things...part of your playing that you use feedback?” is where you finally see Robin relax. • @AtacamaHumanoid
    @AtacamaHumanoid Před 5 lety +60

    I don't think the initial awkwardness is either person's fault, it's just that neither of them are bubbly people. In reality, they probably felt pretty comfortable together. Right away, this guy felt comfortable enough to take these big long pauses trying to get his brain working and she was comfortable enough to just let the silence sit there and give him his space. After a few minutes, you can see it's just a no-nonsense discussion of his gear, which he has difficulty putting into words but she is good at prying something out of him. I get the feeling if she didn't ask questions he would just be like, "Here's my guitar...and here's my other guitar...and here's my other guitar..." which is kind of pointless. I think people here are just used to Rebecca Dirks being more fangirlish and the guitarists eating it up because they like attention from young women.

    Whilst I like the idea of Fluff doing rig rundowns, I can´t help but to symaphize with Tessa here. If I was to be thrown into the situation she has to deal with here (doing a "professional" gear rundown with pro musicians for what seems to be the first time) I´d completely choke, especially with NIN who are one of the best examples of what PRO means with them making use of whatever modern technology becomes available to them. All things considered - she did a good job. Keep going please and don´t let the haters get to you....

    Robin is a hero in our house. My husband is a massive guitar geek. He tells me all about the guitars and custom . There is only one guitar of bands we've seen he couldn't name QOTSA.
    But we love Robin ❤️ we're both introverts, so I tell how uncomfortable he is at times. I know exactly how he felt. So sweet. It was lovely listening to him x on the first cut she wouldn't let go off of Robin. They've cut it now. I'd be the same. I'm cuddling Robin Finck and no I'm not letting go. Im also whispering inappropriate things in his ear like my hotel room number
