    I should just leave well enough alone but when I saw those two dents in that panel (after a "repair" 10:22 ?!) my heart went out to you guys
    I had to say that there was no reason that there should be any dents there after the panel replacement caused by that flimsy floating rib behind it. Somebody screwed that one up and pulling it out with a suction device should be an embarrassing (but cheap )fix for them
    I assisted on my own repair and I know those panels intimately inside and out and every blessed rivet .
    There's no excuse for those two dents after an $$$$$ panel replacement !!
    You let them off too easy... you two are way tooo nice

      Ive learned much about panels and panel repair since this was made. I found out later that the guy who did the panel repair on this trailer was working on his first since training. It was barely noticeable when standing beside it. I only really noticed it after looking at a photo from a distance. Since I had it in the shop for the axles, I had access to the device to pull it out. Worked great.

    Just ordered axle replacements to do 3’ lift. (They’re not done but slightly angled up when loaded, 18 yrs old) I can barely unlock awning from ground never even considered needing rod after.

      It will change a few things for sure. We didnt lift the new one. It was noticeable on the 30' but haven't had any issues with this one yet.

    I so agree on you about draining the tanks on an Airstream. Can be a major pain. We are waiting on our new Classic later this year and I will be have them installing the lift kit as soon as the dealership gets it it. The last place we overnighted in on our way home in our 25 footer had at least 2 feet above ground on their sewer. I was so glad it was only an overnight stay because of this.

      Its been quite nice dumping the tanks since the lift! Thanks for watching and thanks for making us a part of your day!

    Safe travels. Cheers. You’ll be happy that you got the extra height. Put the new hight on your TMPS display so you remember your new height. May want to consider in metric too if your planning on going to Alaska.

    • @ThirteenAdventures
      @ThirteenAdventures  Pƙed 2 lety

      We have already enjoyed the new height on our latest adventure! Very good add. We’re planning for Alaska late summer but will have to fly for time restrictions. Thanks for the note and for making us a part of your day!

  • @asadventures_moriicoddiwomple

    Dexter is a great company. They replaced an axle for us also on our previous Geo Pro. Hopefully, our new Airstream due in September won't have an issue.

    Excellent video. I was surprised that no attempt was made by Airstream (via Dexter) to do some alignment. I'm assuming the dealer will return your old axles to Dexter, they will do some in-house precision alignment/rework, and then ship those same axles to the next customer that has severe tire wear. I can't imagine they would just toss them...

    • @ThirteenAdventures
      @ThirteenAdventures  Pƙed 2 lety +1

      The way the holes line up for the axles to attach, there is no way to adjust them. Also, you cant adjust one wheel on the same axle. Not sure what’s to come of the old axles.

    Be careful at the tire centers. They WILL move their jacks and jack the trailer right from the axle. I have gotten three sets of tires since I owned mine and every single time I have directed them to the jack points- away from the axles they were planning to use.

    • @ThirteenAdventures
      @ThirteenAdventures  Pƙed 2 lety

      agree 100%. I typically just take my own tires off and take them to get tires put on them.

    New axles good deal! When i did the liftI also switch the wheels to 16”, so I gain 4” lift :)

      What was the impact on fuel mileage with the lift kit?

  • @YT-MY
    @YT-MY Pƙed 2 lety +1

    Great that Dexter covered the axles, maybe they had experience with the cause. It makes me wonder if the dealer checks and adjusts the wheel or axle alignment. Seems like a necessary step, especially for multiple axles.

    • @ThirteenAdventures
      @ThirteenAdventures  Pƙed 2 lety

      I dont know of any dealer that checks alignment on them. Unless the frame was welded askew or bent somehow, its not possible to attach them off alignment based on the way the holes line up. There is no play or adjustment.

    • @YT-MY
      @YT-MY Pƙed 2 lety +1

      No adjustment means would require great precision in the frame mounting points and the axle manufacturing. Vehicles without adjustment means will take shims to make adjustments. Maybe an alignment shop could verify the wheels using the same apparatus used for vehicles.

    One thing you didn't mention - did you have to also adjust upward the tow ball on your truck? Otherwise, I would imaging the trailer would be "nose down" instead of level.

    • @ThirteenAdventures
      @ThirteenAdventures  Pƙed rokem

      The trailer was level the whole time we owned it. After the axles were replaced with the same hitch set up, we never had another tire issue.

    Thanks for the vid! We have the 3" lift kit on our Globetrotter 30RBQ and have been very satisfied with the upside of the lift kit, and yes took a bit to get adjusted to the additional highest. We added the SnapPads to compensate for the additional hight and stability, I see you've already done that. I curious, what cold air pressure are you running?

    • @ThirteenAdventures
      @ThirteenAdventures  Pƙed 2 lety

      Hello and thanks for watching. The lift kit is something we’ve wanted for a while but didnt have an opportunity for it to be done in our travels and work schedules. We’ve had SnapPads for a long time and love them. We typically run cold 80PSI but have recently started following the Goodyear chart based on weight. www.goodyearrvtires.com/pdfs/rv_inflation.pdf

    You mentioned you noticed a little bit of turning over curves going in and out of gas stations, can you explain this? Overall 6 months later would you recommend theift kit?
    I have a Flying cloud 23 FB twin on order and have just heard a story of someone's dump valves being caught on something and ripping off the bottom of their trailer. I am hoping the lift kit would help prevent something like that from happening.

    • @ThirteenAdventures
      @ThirteenAdventures  Pƙed rokem

      Hello! Thank you for watching and for the opportunity to assist. The 23FB has a very low dump valve. If you have a dip in your driveway or steep angle where you often travel, it may be beneficial to you. If youre mostly on flat ground and not likely to be on gravel or off road, youre probably fine. Send me an email at thirteenadventures@gmail.com if you want to discuss further. Id be happy to chat with you about this.

    When my Ford TV says “No Trailer” I have no brakes to the trailer. In order to get the brake controller to reconnect, I have to completely power off the truck, wait, and restart. Unplugging and replugging the 7-way won’t do it. When I hear the “bell” when squeezing the levers (or trying to set gain) I have no trailer brakes. Have you ever experienced this? I noticed when you commented the trailer began to stop the truck, the “bell” was gone. There seems to be a lot on the internet about the problem with no resolution yet from Ford.

    • @ThirteenAdventures
      @ThirteenAdventures  Pƙed 2 lety

      I have never experienced this situation personally. As soon as I plugged in my 7-way, it picks up the trailer immediately. The "bell" may be gone from editing. I cut a few of them out.
      Happy to chat more if you would like. Send an email to thirteenadventures@gmail.com

      @@ThirteenAdventures, there was a safety recall for the trailer brake controller on 03/25/2022 (software update). You should never see “No Trailer” with no bars when you squeeze the paddles if a trailer is connected. If it chimes, it’s not stopping. The truck always detects the trailer but the brake controller may not (or disconnect). I haven’t had it done yet but hoping it fixes my disconnects (like the ones shown in your video). I recommend putting the trailer status screen on your center console to make sure you see bars when braking. I hope this is helpful.

      Hi Karl! Great to hear from you. We did check the wheel bearings for play and there was nothing unusual about either axle in any way. We were all stumped too!

      I typically start with the cold 80PSI and that has served us well. Lately, I have done it based on weight and used the Goodyear tire chart www.goodyearrvtires.com/pdfs/rv_inflation.pdf
