  • We fashion some DIY tire chains from Northern Tool using 2/0 twist link chain and quick links. This is the first snowfall that we get to use the SSR 170cc side by side in the snow. We tried the side by side before tire chains and it was uneventful and was stuck countless times. We built the tire chains and installed them to take them on a 6 mile trail ride for our first test and it proved to be a great addition to our atv.
So far we have had very good luck with the SSR Motorsports SRU170RS. It has a great top speed and low end power, it also climbs hills effortlessly. Enjoy!

You did more than build tire chains, you built memories for a lifetime that I'm sure your child will never forget. Good job dad !

Hey, thank you. Yes, it is fun sitting in the passenger seat having him chauffeur me around on the trails. Haha.

Looks like some good memories 👍
How was the longterm durability? And what was the total cost?

So far the ones on the side by side held up this year. I had made some also for a 125cc atv and they have held up for 2 years now. I don’t remember exactly what the total cost it it was somewhere around $60-80.

Looks like a little gy6150 engine but would be cool if you did some clutch upgrades I would be interested in watching the video just to see a difference
