  • Bougainvillea Symphony: Dancing Colors in the Sun ☀️
Bougainvillea is a genus of thorny ornamental vines, bushes, and trees belonging to the four o' clock family, Nyctaginaceae. It is native to eastern South America, found from Brazil, west to Peru, and south to southern Argentina. Different authors accept from 4 to 22 species in the genus.
It is an evergreen woody climber which can grow up to 7 meters. Its small, cream-coloured flowers are trumpet shaped and occur in threes.
In fact, even though the Bougainvillea originates from South America, its largest breeders and producers today are in India, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Hawaii and Florida! The Bougainvillea is a signature plant in the Singapore landscape.
