- Ok, there's no way this is 100% accurate at the moment and this is more of my prediction than anything else. Will look forward to seeing how right or wrong I am come release.

We stil not have the data we will need to compare when pro players start to ladder in water maps. At first glace it does not seem like Poseidon would have any advantage over the other greeks on water maps. only difference is te acces to hippocampus, and this honestly wont play any significance, And by the looks of the changes made to the game in naval war, after reading the techtree seems like each civilization is having similar Naval strength, Xe have to wait and see, and fortunately Possy will get some kinf of buff upon release.

Mate I love a tier list. Agreed with the Thor pick, even with me having a janky unrefined archaic build he still felt strong
It also appears that mummies are super strong now because the special curse attack does aoe damage and convert all effected troops to minions if they are killed by whatever reason, so you get basically a free army during a big fight
Debatable, functionally they were used to 1 shot the big mythic units. Although to compensate for this, the priests are now stupidly strong I heard?

Zeus is S tier. He can be played in a variety of strong ways and nobody is talking about the Hydra for some reason. This myth unit is nuts now. Paired with Athena heal, Dino bronze, and the ability to spam them easily with Zeus is gg basically. It's even stronger if you can manage to go mythic through Hera and get the monstrosity tech.
Surely I'm not the only one who's noticed how strong this combo is
Why not classical Zeus Athena Minotaur rush, and use Zeus thunderbolt for hero removal 😂😂
As a pretty casual player who mainly plays team games, I have really enjoyed Thor. I am okay at macro, but by no means have optimized anything beyond the early game, so having the option to make workers with food or gold gives me a ton of flexibility, especially since gold mines are usually easier to defend / keep track of. I opted to use the gold mine power at the start, into a super fast age up and 2nd TC. The healing fountain power generally means that any aggression around your TCs or towers can be defended relatively easily, and even if you get pushed off a hunt, you can generally still keep your gold mine. Then in the mid/late you can have a fairly strong army with the upgrade and gold gathering advantage.
As someone who participated in the beta, I want to play Atlanteans too. So hyped :)

In my eyes isn't Isis B tier.
0.33% more Hp for each tech is huge, plus that all techs cost less. Priests build Obilisks faster and they are cheaper, which makes revealing the map at the start more easy and ofc anti god power monuments.
Also you get Bast(Holy cats, Sphinx, Eclipse), Nephthys (Scorpian Man, his improvements for Pharaoh and Priests- better anti myth, plus the 5 gold for every own dead human unit tech) and Thoth(Meteor, stronger War Elephants plus the 2 for 1 unit tech for empowered Migdol).
Of all of the picks, Isis and Loki are the ones I didn't see very much. So yeah Isis could be higher. 🙃
I feel like Isis her monuments blocking hero powers is really strong lategame now with the infinite GP's after getting repeatedly earthquaked as Ra lol.
Yeah my expectation is to see a slight nerf on lightning storm, but Hera needed a buff to bring her anywhere close to Hephaestus.
In the original hel gave you access to to all the giants. Which was a huge plus for me. Especially for custom games like settlers. Bommers that they nerfed the hersirs
About Posseidon, I think his special upgrage, which originally only increased the cavarly LOS, is really good making Hippikons regenerates HP as well. Don't know if this would change his position on the tier list, but I can see how good it can be for raids, specially with the broken Pestilence from Ares
@@misteral9045 I think Retold forces the player to have a more diverse army comp now that infantry has such huge bonus against cavalry, so it would be ideal having not so many hippikons, enough to raid or micro in battle to get those ranged units busy. About crenelations I don't think it exists on Retold, I believe the similar to it is the ballistics upgrade from the armory available only on Heroic age, so Hippikons can get some pretty good value early game. Considering other Possy bonus, the market stuff is huge IMO, early market (and cheap market!) on classical age with bonus in the buy/sell can help a lot to age up faster, and the bonus movement speed for donkey caravans can really make the difference on late game... anyway I think Possy is not one of the best on Retold, but it has potential to do some interesting strategies and find some wins against the more powerful gods
@@misteral9045 Faster caravans gives you more resources, combine that with Aphrodite's Divine Blood, Golden Apple (gives you the same 20% Zeus gather favor bonus), militia spam and Hephestus Forge of Olympus I can see Posseidon beating Zeus easily on the late game (Zeus can only get forge of olympus)

@@misteral9045 I am talking about Poseidon in general and how his late game can be strong and early trade is a viable way to go. And since I was talking about late game Dionysius is not a good choice considering all the bonus Aphrodite gives (speedy Nemean Lions as a plus), including favor generation, since favor is really valuable on Retold
About Militia is another late game thing, usually Poseidon players spam buildings around the map and late game has a lot of siege around, I remember a time where I got 30+ militias against a guy making a really strong Helepolis push, which basically saved me from defeat.
@@Diegus- Instead of preventing military buildings from training units, now it only slows down the training time plus, and this is the huge thing about Retold pestilence, it makes all buildings (town center, towers and fortress) unable to fire arrows against your units
Thx for this brief overview of the gods in AoM and reasoning. Would you do one including the sub / age gods as well?
I also would like to give you a recommendation: make better use of the screen (see Hera or theViper tier list for AoE2 as a reference)
• e.g. make the tier list a bit bigger / zoom. In this video 75% of the screen is useless.
• Vertically, Half of the screen is irrelevant (black/empty / weird texts).
• same is true horizontally, half or even 2/ could me used efficiently.

I mostly agree with the things you said about Greek. Hades seems to be the strongest, Poseidon the weakest and Zeus is anywhere in between. But I don’t know if Hades is really S tier. I think you need a good second tc with a safe back goldmine to have a chance against Norse aggression especially against Odin.
Or move Odin to S+ 😅
I feel like people don't realise how OP greek myth units are. I can see greeks going fast heroic into mass myth units against norse and having success, because Hersir seem to me to be really weak and really slow. We will have to wait and see.

havent been able to play the beta, but ive done some theorycrafting on isis and i think youre missing the 2 new power spikes she gets: gold-costing sphinx in feudal and super strong elephants in castle, all on top of the classic ancestors eclipse. feudal age market also helps her more than anyone else imo. id play her either as a phosphoru-esque super cheesy 6:30 fc, or as a 3 monument sphinx flood

Wow Hades my man on the S tier? I'm surprised he was UP all the time during the previous games I'm happy he finally got the respect he needed. I'm also glad they changed so many things as giving the Scylla to all 3 Greek when Hades always struggled on water especially due to the lack of MU. I believe arrow ships could have received the ranged units buff.

I think this tier will possible change shortly, it’s seems a little AOM titans bias.
After playing beta, I am concerned on how Norse will keep with how Greek and Egypt can gain favor so quickly.
A possible large proponent to consider is the unlimited god powers based on if you have enough favor. Future players may find a fast gold fast food build straight to mythic age.
Poseidon lore powers lets him hunt in base, as long as there is enough favor to cast it. Faster centaurs to use for economic disruption. Ra, can empower monuments and give an empowered area of effect and gain favor.
Also, concerned with how Norse will fight a classical or heroic battle. It’s looks like Greek and Egyptians can spam mythic units and support with anti infantry. I don’t see Norse’s hero are good counters a strategy a long those lines…..

While I agree, that poseidon isnt as good as Hades. I would still put him atleast above isis and loki just because greek (myth) units seem busted

It is clear that there will always be some imbalance, but it is interesting how big the spread between the top and the bottom tier is. In your opinion, at the moment, how hard is it to win playing as low tier god against the tops? Or is the difference insignificant and they are all viable?
Well with military AQ not available that should push the skill floor and ceiling out so winning with weaker gods against stronger players should be possible.

Wolves now cost food, not sure about the strength of fimbul but I can imagine an intense long game, where the natural favour from fighting results in several fimbul wearing out the opponent!
Fact that all units can spawn MU is bonkers. Since MU power up with age, it means you wont have "useless spawns" like in the titans (like a troll spawning in mythic), plus that ranged hero Godi seems pretty good.
One thing I noted with Loki is that the cheaper transformations means that you can get cheaper berserks by continuously training gatherers and then transforming them into berserks. Not all that practical early game (unless you do an all-in strat, then maybe it could be useful for that). Late-game though, once you have 90+ villagers, it's easy to occasionally transform a few gatherers into berserks. I don't play ranked though, and I doubt it would come up often enough to have any impact on a tier-chart.
I also want to keep the Loki hope alive, on the fact that his buildings build 1/4 faster - means he is able to build an infrastructure that much quicker. Since the Norse can be limited by having to hold military units in reserve to build longhouses, etc - the increased speed is a strong change.
I think out of all the Norse - Loki is the most Econ minded: be explosive, grab town centers fast to start spamming villagers - get a resource base so that those villagers can become berserkers and have an infrastructure that can win the war of attrition. There is definitely a high skill ceiling for optimal play… but whether that can compete against Odin’s/Greek’s high-tier units, I cannot say for sure.

Yes boit love, im definetively not a pro or anithing But I got about 10hours of online games during the beta, I only got to play Poseidon, Isis and Odin. and I agree, Odin feels easy and strong and the M giants are OP as F.
Isis felt like old Isis indeed, but Poseidon, boit love, Possy is gonna need a buff, my boy has now an even greater weakness, Myth units are now spamable and cheaper and Poseidon had already dificulties dealing with Myth units in the Titans, Immagine now. Zeus can at least compete with the better Heroes and the now pop-wise-cheaper Myth units. And Hades Archers feel so OP now, the ballistics plus the extra range plus the poison thing that Artemis gives... archers are even better now
