Welp my ring finger is starting to hurt😂
apricotprincess I’m a Chinese and I’ve always been holding and picking up foods with my chopsticks crisscrossed as I saw my mom holding her chopsticks like that when I was 5 years old and so I just learn the same way. I just know how to do it with just one look and without anyone teaching me and have no problem picking up food with chopsticks when I first time do it even though I learn and hold the chopsticks kind of wrong and different from the standard chopsticks holding. However when I try the standard way of holding the chopsticks it’s just uncomfortable and my hand and fingers hurts
Damn mine too hurts bad😂
😂😂
same here😂
same
going to buy chopstick now, we ate in korean restaurant last month with my colleagues and i am the only one who don't know to use this shit.
oh wow.
Do you know how to use chopsticks now? Need an update
Korean chopsticks are different. They're made out of metal and have a flat side. Good luck trying to pick up anything with them once they get greasy ;-)
I've been using chopsticks for over 6 years and living in Japan for about 2 years and still can't get rid of the hand cramp :(
On my ring finger it made like a curve by the pressure of the chopsticks
my wrists starts ti hurt when i try to eat with chopsticks
When my chopsticks STILL crossing and my fingers are too short: AAAAUGHHHHHHHHHH-
I think I'm chopstick illiterate as I've been trying to use them properly and to actually pick up things and I've practiced over a month and I can't do it!
Pastor Peewee it takes time, when i was three it took me a year to get it fully.
I know! I get it right for about 5 minutes then it moves a bit, and I can’t figure out how I did it in the first place
i’m chinese and we’re trained to use it since we were little and still some chinese use it improperly

Wao, your demostration is simply the best! Your explanations is perfectly clear but what i found most important and unique regarding other videos, is that you show all the sides of the hand while holding the chopsticks, so we can see how they must be placed correctly. I've seen tones of videos and they were all identicals. I was starting to think that something was wrong with my fingers or motricity 'cause none of them worked for me 😂 Now I can get the thumb fixed and actually open and close the index and middle fingers. Thank you so much! 🤗💖
Thumbs are not fingers.
Thanks a million!!!!! I've been practicing for the past 3 days and now I'm master HAHAH
The method that works for me is to brace the bottom chopstick against the left front edge of my ring finger. If I hold it as you direct, my top chopstick crosses downward over the bottom one. In some other videos from other CZcamsrs, I have noticed that they brace the bottom chopstick against the bone of the ring finger and it acts as a stop to keep the chopstick from sliding out of position. However, God has given me a ring finger bone that hardly exists at all. My adjusted method works well. I just have to concentrate when bringing the tip of the top chopstick together with that of the bottom one to make sure they act as a pincer and not slip past each other, thus dropping the food. Best wishes everyone on your chopstick efforts!
Thanks for the tip! Hopefully others with a similar ring finger will benefit as well
The exact thing happens to me, if I try to use it the right way not only will my chopsticks cross most of the time, if I do get them to come together at the tips I have no grip strength and most of the time the lower chopstick will slip along the side of the ring finger towards the base of the ring finger which results in the chopsticks crossing even more.
I have instinctively held it the same way you do to make it work, by bracing the lower chopstick on the end of my ring finger instead of the side of the ring finger. But after about 5 minutes I get cramp/pain on the side of my hand below where the pinky finger is. But this seems to happen if I hold them the right way too.
Thank you so much for your help.
My 4th finger kept on getting tired..help

For crossing the tips of the chopsticks.. I think it helps with noodles though, they get wrapped around easier. I do it all the time and they won't be seen being crossed because of the noodles covering the chopsticks that way.
Your secret's safe with us ;)
Being left handed I fell into an alternate dimension
Thank you so much ❤

How do you hold them?
I legit do the same thing
Thank you for this! 🙂👍
This video really helped! Got it on the first try! Thanks!
Thank you that was well explained... easy to understand and follow..
No it’s not!
Best video on use of chopsticks I've ever seen
Thanks for your help.
Thank you so much it helped a lot!
Thank you
Spoon is my Old Friend 🤣
So true
HOW DO YOU KEP IT ON YOUR RING FINGER EEE
Thank goodness I watched this, it helped so much since I have Asian friends 😀
ThanKS
I have a question. The chopsticks keep slipping on my ring finger. What do we do to stop this
ありがとうございました
My problem is that the chopstick which isn't supposed to move keeps slipping upwards on my fourth finger. It doesn't stay still on my finger. Can anyone help me out?
Thank you very much.
Why is no one talking about how ut hurts the MIDDLE finger. What can I do?
Thank you this helps so much I was holding chopsticks the wrong way thx ❤
The only way I can do this is if I put the bottom chopstick in between my pinkie and ring finger. Is this considered wrong if everything else is right? I think it might be due to how my fingers are jammed or bent or the length between my fingers or something
instructions unclear, my chopsticks is now in someone's bottom
I have been eating fine with my chop sticks. I could pick up a single grain of rice until I started watching videos and realised I was doing it all wrong.
My sticks weren't crossed but I was holding the top one straight and moving the bottom. So now that I am trying to use them properly I can't eat anything at all 😢
Practice :)
Use fork and spoon, sis 🤣
Lol, we Keralites eat rice with our hands so 🤷🏻♀️😂
Is it considered improper if you rest the first chopstick on your middle finger and not in between the middle finger and ring finger?
My fingers start spazzing 😂😂
Darnit it starts out well initially, but how do you keep the bottom stick from sliding up your ring finger :S
Eres linda..thanks..
I am left-handed and I can only hold the chopstick by placing the bottom one in between thumb and index finger, securing it with my middle finger. I point and move the top one with my thumb tip and index finger. My ring finger and little finger are quite short so they literally can't play any role in holding chopsticks, no matter what method I researched xD sorry I just do whatever works for me...I also use lots of things differently like computer mouse, can openers, put contact lenses in my own way etc. I even hold the pencil differently. I think there shouldn't be "one proper way", because not everyone is built the same. It's all about efficiency, not the looks anyways, so do whatever is best for you
I can't control my ring finger, it follows the other two fingers😞
Tq😘😘😘
ure the best
how does the lower not slip along the finger? Do i need glue or something?
Is ur chopstick long or short? Bcuz mine is short. I think it will not work if its short. Fuck
😂😂 you don’t need glue
This is also my Problem👀. It's slipping up after a few minutes.
@@jenny255 yea, seems to get better with time though. I dont use them much but i try occasionally s and i feel like putting more focus or angling the hand to shift the weight of the food towards the upper sticks helps. Ultimately, at some point i suppose, the hands probably get used to it and you intuitively find the right balance between gripping and relaxing. Its a long road to mastery it seems, though
@@goldensilence5841 hehe, yea, been a year now i guess and i've gotten better.
Okay, so I thought I was okay with chopsticks since I always use them while going to Chinese restaurants. I also use them for chips because I don't want to get them all over my hands. After trying it the way in this video, I can tell you I definitely have a different technique. 😂😂😂
mum takes me to a japanese restaurant sometimes so it sucks when i can’t eat the food easily
The first chopstick just won't stay in place on my ring finger.
Please help!!
I have chopsticks in philippines and i learned chopsticks properly
i can hold it properly its just that im not good at picking stuff up
What does it mean when you cross them?
left handed people: "For right-handed people!? Nah, I'm still gonna do it."
Вау! Спасибо у меня получилось!😊
How many days can I learn to eat from it?
0:58 Pardon my rough language, but that's just plain nonsense. It may be improper, but it is not hard at all. It is very easy to hold the top chopstick with thumb and index finger if you don't try to fail on purpose. Please don't say that it is hard when it is merely improper.
Using those two fingers, I have enough strength to pick up a schnitzel and tear it in half (just tried that out (in private)), while exerting enough control to pick up single pieces of corn at a very fast pace, without any trouble whatsoever.
The difference to the weak grip shown at 0:59 is that I align two segments of the index finger with the chopstick and use the thumb to hold the stick against the finger at the base of the second segment. By alinging those grip points diagonally to the motion, I can exert full force and control in all directions.
This leaves the strong middle finger open to support the lower chopstick, which would otherwise have to be locked on the much weaker ring finger. It is far less likely to cramp up your hand than the traditional grip. The middle finger also offers a better resting angle if you have bigger hands.
The slight change in the angle of the chipsticks even makes it a little bit easier to guide food to the mouth.
So, please keep manners and technical issues separate. Keep in mind that people tend to use improper grips for a reason. That reason is rarely ignorance. Most of the time it is easier, more effective, or feels more natural to use a grip that would be considered improper.
Pardon my rough language but why you bitching
What's the best material for chopsticks?:
- Fiberglass
- Ceramic
- Metal (stainless steel, titanium)
In case of metal, which ones are the best (solid, not hollow)?
Bamboo is the best.
Probably some meaning about patience and reward you n chopsticks, knowing a lil about asian culture
what if i cant hold the bottom chopstick so it stays i place????? tell me pls
i have to hold the bottom stick in my nail if i don't it just keeps sliding down
The bottom one for me will not stay those two fingers wont stabilize it for me, maybe I have to short of fingers I end up having to use my middle finger as support, any suggestions?
that's how I've been doing it my whole life lol... with the ring finger takes some practice I guess
I'm practicing eating a bowl of pop corn.. Getting pretty good at it...!!!!!!!!
Hi pretty thanks😊😊
Hi. I practiced chopsticks with stir fry which kept slipping off the chopsticks due to cooking oil. What advice would you give on this Please?
Maybe try using plain untreated chopsticks made from wood or bamboo.
They have much more friction on oily foods than metal, plastic, or laquered wood.
Wow
i can hold it fine but its just when i try to eat something they cross
my hand cramps immediately
The problem I have is, the ends of the sticks don't meet. They always cross. I am frustrated! ☹
I constantly make the mistake of pressing the root of my thumb against the lower chopstick, making it very difficult for myself. 🙈
I still cross my chopsticks all my life and everything still seems fine
The first chopstick just slips off my ring finger, how can you make it stay so glued to the side of the finger??
Lol the immediate image of different hand proportions compared to my own.
I struggle getting the bottom chopstick to be stable and getting my middle finger where I want it. I feel like it keeps getting in the way.
Mine on the bottom keeps slipping around, i do have small hands though
If i were you who had a hard time learning and using chopstick just buy the Adult Chopstick Learner. You can even take it with you if planning to eat in a Korean or Japanese resto. You will enjoy it. Promise. 😊
We have the same choostick
Where did you buy them? They’re very pretty but I can’t find them anywhere on the internet

First you have to hold your hands as you hold a baseball.
Me on CZcams search: How to hold a baseball 🫠
This is soooo good. Loving the Japanese culture, so learning this is a must. Can't wait to visit Japan.
Same here!
i just wanna go there to fuck lol :v
참 어렵게 가르치고 배운다 ㅎㅎㅎ
Oh this is easy 😩
Now I can eat potato chips
bacım bizim pilavımız öyle lapa lapa değil. o ne olacak?
My fingers are too short and so are my chopsticks
This is why forks were invented
not me searching this because I’m left handed and I want to use my right
This literally made it harder
Just curious can i use this same method for my left. hmmmmmm. lol
I can’t do this with with my right hand only my left and I’m right handed lol😭
Me too
My hand is literally paining 😂
Nah im doing it my way 😎
Still, I CAN'T 💔😭
In China, you cannot stab chopsticks on bowl of rice because this is considering rude and harm, so instead place the chopsticks on a bowl, sideways.
I am starting to think
May be my hand is not developed in proper way that can use chopsticks
I'm a Caucasian Australian, I can use chopsticks correctly ... left-handed. I do feel a bit self-conscious eating in public, left-handed, since I am aware in Asian and Islamic cultures it is seen as dirty and offensive to do so. The increase in immigration to Australia has heightened my anxiety. Using Western utensils right handed is bad enough, I could never use chopsticks right-handed.
At least in Japan, people don't care about handedness anymore and you'll see plenty of lefties eating with their left hand. Especially if you're in Australia, I'd say eat freely with your left hand and don't worry!
@@tsunaguJapanVideos That's a relief. The last thing I want, is to offend anyone. Thank you for your reply.
I'm muslim and I'm left handed? it's nothing offensive or dirty
Thingyou
WHY DOES THE BOTTOM ONE KEEP MOVING!? AAAAHHHH
🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
I taught myself as I'm left handed. Is it offensive to eat with your left hand in Japan? Some cultures don't like us.
I'm try but i can't do this😩😩😫

Bottom one slips always, doesn't matter what I adjust.
it worked with mine but it slips, im just not letting it pass my ring finger by gripping it with the three fingers above.
