PARADE 2024 | Military parade for the National Anniversary of March 25th 🇬🇷
The military parade of March 25th in Athens for the 203rd anniversary of the National Paligenesia was held with splendor and honours.
At approximately 11:00, the parade of the Armed Forces and Security Forces started in front of the monument of the Unknown Soldier, in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic. The parade ended at about 12:45. Earlier, Katerina Sakellaropoulou laid a wreath at the monument.
The main features of this year's parade include:
- The appearance for the first time in the Attic sky of a pair of the new training aircraft of the Air Force M-346 Block 5+,
- The parade for the first time of the Corps of Forest Commanders,
- The participation for the first time of the "Mantzaros" Philharmonic Society of Corfu,
- For another year, the coordination of the ASDYS military band in the precise marching of the Evzones
- The dynamic passage of the special forces officers - paratroopers, marines, commandos, frogmen, submarine destroyers of the Coast Guard and the special disaster response unit, the Fire Brigade, who received the warm applause of the state political and military leadership and the gathered world.
The parade of the motorized and pedestrian units of the Armed Forces and the Security Forces was opened by the war disabled and followed by the volunteer corps of the Hellenic Red Cross at the same time that the legendary Supermarine SPITFIRE MJ755 aircraft accompanied by an F-16 aircraft made its appearance in the Attic sky.
This was followed by the Motorized Infantry, where, among others, the M1117 Guardian armored vehicles, the imposing Leopard tanks, the Motorized Artillery, the Anti-Aircraft Artillery, the Engineers, the Transmissions, a Nuclear-Biological-Chemical (NBC) Defense platoon, the Sanitary, the Air Force's "PATRIOT" and "VELOS" anti-aircraft systems. The phalanx of the infantry divisions was opened by the impressive crossing of the Evzones company and was followed by the parade of war flags.
Infantry units of the Three Arms and the productive schools of the Armed Forces and Security Forces also paraded in perfect formations. All types of aircraft and helicopters of the Armed Forces (F-16 Viper, Rafale, F- 16, Mirage2000-5 and F-4,CL-215,C-130 C-130), flying radar, Army Air Force helicopters (Apache, chinook, NH-90, kiowa warrior,), Navy SH-70 as well as the Security Forces.
The President of the Republic Katerina Sakelaropoulou congratulated the Commandant of the Evelpidon Military School Major General Anastasios Polychrono for the parade.
The military parade was preceded by the official raising of the National Flag, on the Holy Rock of the Acropolis, while at 10:00 the official doxology began in the Cathedral of Athens, presided over by His Beatitude Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Hieronymos II, in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, of the political and military leadership.
