Devo performing Peek-A-Boo, live at The Observatory in Los Angeles, exclusively on Moshcam.
David Bowie dubbed them "the band of the future", Brian Eno produced their debut and everyone from Nirvana to Soundgarden and Rage Against The Machine have covered them.
A contagious collision of New Wave punk, arty experimentalism and subversive politics, these music mavericks burst onto the world scene in the late '70s and turned pop music on its head forever with hits like 'Whip It', 'Girl U Want', 'Mongoloid' and 'Beautiful World'.
So when the chance to film these icons in action at The Observatory at Santa Ana, California came up earlier this year, we jumped at it. Needless to say, they didn't disappoint, delivering a spectacle jammed with hits old and new, gloriously oddball antics and their mental mascot, Booji Boy.
"The Mayan calendar was wrong," frontman Jerry Casale told the crowd on the night. "The world is not going to end this year so you're stuck with us for a long time."
We wouldn't have it any other way, Jerry.

I had a chance to see devo live a while back, but I was so ignorant back then, and was thinking "those nerds who sing whip it? I'll pass." It's one of my biggest regrets, because ever since I I really started to listen to them, they have become one of my all time favorite bands. I even met jerry at the "taste of Newport " in Newport Beach CA. Its a wine tasting event and i worked as a valet at the fairmont hotel where he was staying. One of the coolest guys i ever had the honor of meeting. I just wish I had the respecti have for devo now when I saw him.
How damn cool is that!
Love em
They were at Lollapalooza and I knew them but I didn't expect it to transfer too well live... I was WRONG. It was REALLY good. I had always liked them but that kicked it up a notch. Also, they sort of mixed newer sounds with their classic ones.
i absolutely love the sonic clarity and the noisy lead synth. Saw these guys in the 70's and the 80's. they still got it.
Still kicking ass after all these years. These guys haven't missed a beat. DEVO!!!!!!!!!!
The older they get, the better they sound, amazing. 😊
Man, look at that crowd go nuts at 0:14 I'd hate to be in THAT pit!
Saw them on this tour. Freaking great.
I'm proud to say I saw them early 80s
Frigging outrageous my boyfriend now hubby and friends wore the yellow jumpsuits had a blast!!!!
To the person who uploaded this, You rock!
Nothing compares to Devo. Long Life for them
they still got it. awesome!
Wow, awesome! DEVO still kickin' it!!!
What I'd do to see them one more time.😊😊
devo was the first band to sync video with live performance back in 1982.
That's not quite right. Pink Floyd synced "Welcome to the Machine" to a film during their Wish You Were Here tour and did some during the Wall tour as well. So Devo wasn't exactly the first, but they were the first to take it to the extent they did with "Oh No! It's Devo" shows.
THESE GUYS GOT EVERYBODY FOOLED !!!! they are incredible..................
Kraftwerk did it in the 70s
@@Logan912Devo are more conventional and preferred by a lot over Kraftwetk.
@@retromaster2000s Yeah, DEVO is more conventional, but both bands have large fanbases. I like them both even though their music is pretty different.
They Really Sound Amazing after all these Years... I wish they come to South America...Viva DEVO amigos
Extraordinarios
Awesomeness.
They are a very tight live band.
Saw them in Cleveland in ‘82: OH NO!..
I thought they added one more "ha" from the original, , but even if they didn't I like this version also.
@Nicholas BlakeneyYup, I noticed that right away.
Right; I was thinking the same shit. I’m a four-ha purist. I can’t get with five ha’s.
@@SuperPussyFinger It's good to be a purist!
I love this!
I still prefer Alan Myer's electric drums when this song is being played.
It was a linn lm1 that replaced him from new traditionalists onwards , you can briefly see him tapping it in the beautiful world video , sad departure for his livedrumming
Great Devo👍!!!
Just Awesome!
That's cool!!
Devo deserves to be in the HOF. If fucking Bon Jovi got it, Devo more that deserves the honor. Bon Jovi is a nice pop band. Devo set a standard.
Exactly Devo rejected the mainstream and challenged illegitimate authorities.
tough!
Peek A Boo Street was named after her parent's heard this song.
Yes, I remember when she pushed her elderly father down the stairs when she claimed he pulled her hair.
I like Fat Devo.
Muito Bom!😊👏👏👏
i wonder how Mark Mothersbaugh explains this to his kids lol
His kids would love him
Has there ever been a band as idiosyncratic and daring yet the members all look so drably normal? I mean, these guys could all look like they would be working the suits dept at JC Penny.
There "Other" Jobs were Computer related - they were Tech Geeks
Is this old devo
ha...ha..ha...haaaa
Still rock's rockstar orr monster rny gee whizz er
This is the song that gets love on THIS show here... again. czcams.com/video/DRa0SAMxoDc/video.html
Trying to find a recent live version of Time Out for Fun.
They sadly have not played that song since 1982, there's good footage of it however from that era :)
Why do you claim at the top that the Observatory is in LA?
ピーカブー
Peoples?
Misstyped DEBO & GOTT T H I S
GOD HAS SUCH A TREMENDOUS SENSE OF HUMOR. LOTS OF ROCK AND ESPECIALLY NEW WAVE MUSIC IS INSPIRED BY GOD WITH SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES AND PROPHECY AIMED RIGHT AT THE DEVIL AND ALL WHO FOLLOW.
Laugh if you want to
Or say you don't care
If you cannot see it
You think it's not there
It doesn't work that way
Acts 2:17-21 New International Version (NIV)
17 “‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18 Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.
19 I will show wonders in the heavens above
and signs on the earth below,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20 The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
21 And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved.’[a]
they sing this song terribly here. The are still great.
This is embarrassing.
There's something to be said about bowing out gracefully early on and not overstaying your welcome in the spotlight.
You could say the same thing about any band who’s been around for a long time and still tours. They’re just having fun doing what they like to do.
Bro they sound great and decently tight for a band that’s been around for like 50 years I will never understand the negativity of people like you it’s rly sad
This song is total bastard from 77 or so.
Complete crap that no one should ever hear or see.
What to do with this is listen a gazillion times then vomit twice.
1977 your on drugs lol. What the hell are you talking about?
