These are the things I have to share about sublimation printing on metal. My Website: www.printshedco.com/ Learn to make Prints: www.skool.com/print-shed-2919...
I was hoping for a video like this. I am 62 and kinda retireded, living in Northern Ontario and am looking into getting into this art form, all thanks to you ☺
RD, thank for sharing the whole process. You've got a nice little setup going on now, I'm sure you're pretty efficient when the camera is not rolling. The only things I would recommend, would be definitely look to get a template or jig for the frame, and maybe get your shipping setup a little different with putting the packing material on a dowel to pull it easier. Other than that, you're gold. Appreciate you being so open with the process. Here's to a successful 2024, brother!
Yes, definitely have lots of little things that need to be fixed and upgraded to be more efficient. They’ll get done over time. Thanks for the support!
When turning on a sublimation press, it is important to close it to allow the bottom plate to heat up. If the bottom plate is cold, the press will cool down and the sublimation process will not be performed properly. causing the sublimation process to take longer and the image to be less vibrant. This can lead to problems such as yellowing or burning of the paper which turns the highlight areas of the image yellow, as well as darker shadows in the image. Additionally, the longer press time will increase electricity consumption.
Make your own jig with a door skin...thin wood you will be able to cut through with a mat knife. Make each size you normally produce, and clear coat with water base poly for smooth operation. also get a framing square to align those jigs and the frame parts.
Wow!!! Such a Great Video!!! Thank you for sharing all of your sublimation secrets!! Love your designs, work; and how clear, concise and detailed you are! May I make some "Mother" suggestions (advice 😂😂)? If the fumes are that strong, please, please consider opening your garage door enough to get some fresh air and ventilation in there. Also get a couple of box fans that you can sit on the floor in front of the slightly open door, to help remove/ minimize the fumes. I know you're younger but life goes fast! Even though I dont know you, I want you to stay healthy and enjoy a very long, happy, healthy and prosperous life. Just a concerned Mom! 😂 Wishing you much continued success!
Although showing this video can cause an increase in competition in this neche but you still did appericiate it man. I thought that I wouldn't tell anybody if I know how to make these but now I sure will. You told me it's not all about competition. Thanks man.
I used to work for a guy that did this printing on metals. He got lazy and stopped doing as much. So I got everything I needed and started doing it myself (with a different name and branding of course). He threatened to sue me because I “signed an NDA.” I told him to give me a copy of that and any other paperwork like W4s or I-9s that I signed. He was paying me under the table so he stopped threatening me. This type of printing isn’t saturated enough to cause people to lose out on business. People are always taking new pictures and it’s better than canvas so there’s plenty of business to go around. I share all of my info with anyone that’s interested in starting a dye sub printing business. That’s why this channel is so great.
Been waiting for you to make this video - would you make say 10-15 mounting plates of each size and have them stored ready to go otherwise great content man! I need to do the same thing here in Australia, there's not too many businesses doing this at the moment!
that looks amazin man. I just discovered metal printing today lol. Do you usually need to worry about quality of the prints on computer or deal with the color settings or pretty much print from stock settings for the printer?
Great video, Thanks for so many insights! I am planning to start this type of business and I feel its untapped where I am at and coming across channel as I am stepping into it has been a blessing ngl. I am still curious on what you wrap the panels with, so if you find the name, please do reply! As a marketing major, I hope I can create a demand for this here! Kudos and all the best to you! ♥️
Great work and you inspirered me to actually have it as hobby and i am hoping to make it as business one day - But i have an issues. Whenever i heatpress it there is some fades on the pictures- Mostly on the side. Did you have some same issues in the beginning? Or do you know how to fix it? 😊
Great vid! Can you let us know where you bought your larger heat press? The one in your affiliate link is not the same size you used your your vid. Thanks man and keep it up!👍
I made a community for sublimation if you'd like to join it. Its completely free. Just people discussing things they've learned Learn to make Prints: www.skool.com/print-shed-2919/about
Hello, I come from Vietnam. I'm very happy to watching your video. If possible, please let me know the name of the metal plate and the type of gold paper. Thank you very much.
For your printer. connect your cable straight the your computer. So much faster. I had mine on the wifi printing. The printer kept stopping during the print and slowly started to print.
For the large heat press, can you share where you picked that one up at? I have one that is 16x24 and it takes about 40-45 mins to heat up. I would like to get one that does not take so long.
great vid thanks for sharing.....is that the best deal you can find for the blanks? or is it an issue with availabilty? just wodering if there are places in the US to purchase...i found a couple sources but did note some had no stock and i recall you mentioning having trouble with that
My first priority is the best quality I can find. Then it’s where I can get the best price where it’s always available. They’re never out of stock. I’m willing to pay there price until I find something better
Thanks for the information. Can you share the exact plate model you are using. I went through the website and there are tons of different sheets Thanks
Can you help? 1) What is the maximum size you can press on your 24x32 heat press? Can the whole area of the press be used, or do you need to leave a few mm? How many mm should be left on the edges??? 2) Can I take 4 color printers, or will the picture not be as bright and juicy???
Thank you for this truly inspiring and educational video! I have another question: Which thickness should the aluminium panels have so that the final product is stable enough and doesn't wobble back and forth. What material thickness do you normally use for a panel of the size 11.7x16.5'' (DinA3 format). Thanks for your help! Keep up the good work!
Love the video! The frames are the one thing I haven’t been able to fine, so I’ll be checking into them for sure. Would also love to work with you on the 3D printing jigs! Just sent ya a message on Instagram!
I currently have the epson F170 sublimation printer and I’m thinking about upgrading to the Epson 570 or the sawgrass 1000. Are you happy with your 570? How long have you had it? Have you had any problems with yours? Great video.
Sublimation dye on normal paper I've heard gives off fumes. I think it's the dye, not the metal you're printing on. They recommend sublimating in a well ventilated area and even using a fan.
If you’re referring to express shipping I can understand it being that high. The slow shipping that can take up to 30 business days is not nearly that high. However you’re probably paying freight opposed to standard shipping which will go up. You’re still paying entirely too much for shipping though. You’re being taken!
I won’t be talking about computer stuff because I know nothing about it. Other people have better info on it than me. I’m not sure what you mean by stains though?
@@sukhjeetsingh7060 i get the same thing on my chromaluxe. looks like soap scum almost. mine comes off with glass cleaner and a microfiber. Still annoying and no one can tell me why its happening either.
@@scatterbraynedav9311 When I had the kinda like mottled effect on my metal sub panels, it was because of moisture in the sublimation print. I found two things to correct the mottled effect, make sure to let you sub print dry completely (sometime if the humidity high in my shop I have to let the print dry 24 hours before pressing. And the second thing is to control the humidity in your shop or work area.
I am looking to start the same business just wanted to ask if ur website is made through shopify how can you let the customers select a custom image also what software do you use to increase or decrease the colour brightness thanks love the vids
I think you should get one those holders like they have for paper towels rolls. The way of wrapping you do with the styrofoam rolls - moving it and holding it every time - seems inefficient. Just suggesting
Hi there I am new in your channel. I am starting to do small poster with sublimation, but I would like to know if you use any sealer or lacquer to avoid scratches and protect from UV rays?
Im struggling to find the high quality aluminium sheets, they seem to be all abroad, im from UK and shipping is a disaster, anyone know any uk suppliers, I have used some metal sheets from amazon but they tend to have a burn on the finish, any tips guys
I haven't but you may have a pressure or heat issue on your press towards the edges. Try turning the pressure up possibly? Maybe a lower heat time and longer press?
@@rushdecatur I'm using the Epson pro rip software. This has 2 profiles in it, textile and rigid. From the videos I've watched, the best way to print is with the rip software, it takes over all the control of the printer and it's programmed specifically for this printer. Is this your experience as well?
Loving what you do but for the love of the big man up stairs..get a fume extractor fitted ASAP. The fumes are real bad for you. Workers who breathe large amounts of aluminum dusts can have lung problems, such as coughing or abnormal chest X-rays. Some workers who breathe aluminum dusts or aluminum fumes have decreased performance in some tests that measure functions of the nervous system

Can you use that press to make longer pic’s by moving the print sideways and start again?
Wondering where a good supplier for the metal is and if it is possible to make your own?
How reliable the printer is ?
