I think it actually makes sense as to why normally music AIs are better then other AIs at generating "original" works, because I think even for humans it's easier for the mind to think of music and to freestyle on top of it than to formulate images
Probably combined with the fact that this AI was likely trained on a lot of variations of jazz standards which had tons of improvisation over certain changes. It's incredibly possible that this certain modal got really good at recognizing specific patterns in common changes and just knows what to do.
It's gotten good enough that I subconsciously sang along at 3:19 despite having never heard the AI version before because the A.I. & I were on the same page about the exact instant when that part of the music should come back.
