I m not a defence expert but i can say that su30 and rafale are not in the same catagory. F15 eagle can be compared with su30 and eurofighter typhoon and rafale can be comparable. Every aircraft has its own speciality and no one can be perfect. But it depends on the operator how he can come up with best performance.
For your information, last month Russian Su-30sm reached 150 metres near Italian F-35, and F-35 failed to detect it. Real war is different, comparison is useless. Battle tactics, pilot skills, armament, weather etc.. many things matters in real war.

Su30MKI is one of best flankers in the world and this machine with Indian pilots make deadly combination. Modifications implemented by IAF on this machine overcome most of shortcomings compared to other flankers ..with constant upgradation and modification to carry Brahmos is also testimony that it's versatile and it's formidable force in IAF. It's engine has issues even to this day . your russian jet yet has issue with environmental engineering which means the engine has issues on reliability in tropical hot climate of India unlike in russia where enviornment is cold so engine there will perform better and has more availability. The so called flanker moves which you actually see su30 doing are always done without bearing full load. Have you ever seen the flanker doing those stunts with full load no you have n't no one has because it can't . so su30 is good for optics and is good if you have decent awacs systems. but you lack awacs and engine snag is a headache of su30 . now the problem will be intensified due to russia ukraine war you won't get many spares easily. so good luck if you belive su30 is best fighter. no it is not.
Post Balakot, IAF won the battle in the skies and promptly lost it in the media. Has anything been done to fix it. I don’t want to comment on individuals but while Junior officers have exhibited top class professionalism in battles, the leadership has been very mediocre. In some instances it has gone pretty ugly. We need to audit leadership courses and training our officers are getting mid-career. Something is giving somewhere.

I think that number has also became outdated as China is ramping up their production of fighters, Also Pakistan will do the same if their economy persists weather through US support or otherwise. That's true... S-400 doesn't have an Indian made Mission Computer unlike our Su-30 MKI or Mig-29 Upg fleet. The S-400 would have to be upgraded with an Indian made Mission Computer as well as Surveillance as well as Fire Control Radars.
For those who question the capabilities of Su30MKI...need to listen to 2008 video of USAF Col. (who unfortunately created sme controversy in india with his remarks - go find sme place else to fly :D) where, he clearly mentioned that once the Indian pilots learn more n gain more experience on SU30s..they will be able to beat the F15s and the F16s in a regular basis..and this included BVR combat as well...

One of the podcast done by that so called defence expert was on Jaipur Dialogues show at timestamps 1 hour 8 mins and 1 hour 12 mins where this claim was made. The name of the podcast is disecting modern fighter jets, to which the current vedio was quite articulately represented. There are more outrageous claims in this podcast only which have been countered by alpha defence channel in recent months, namely 1. Tejas aircraft/ AMCA cannot engage in cooperative engagement without using radio channels. This claim was countered by Tejas mk2 cockpit demonstration. 2. JF17 is a better aircraft than Tejas because it got export success with countries who are actually India's adversaries. If we ourselves follow the latest news there have been cracks emerging in JF17 fuselage and pak airforce has grounded that aircraft (Alpha defence can throw more light on this). 3. Tejas mk1a fits no where in air to air combat today, it just fits in giving incompetent people/ scientists jobs. This point has already been countered by presenting the radars, ew suite and weapons package Tejas mk1a will come with. Also IAF sent FOC Tejas for aerial exercise desert flag where it's performance was descent and was praised. 4. His final remarks that IAF is doomed forever. Overall I really thank alpha defence for fact checking these outrageous claims and presenting them to veiwers and that too with a neutral standpoint.

I don’t think SU30 has problem. I think problem was with missiles inventory which we had. There was a radical change in missile inventory for SU30. Only surprising decision was MIg21 deployed and not Tejas.

One thing I know whenever foreign countries do exercise with India they get amazed cause how much India mods the aircrafts for example when usa does an exercise with iaf, iaf used mig 21 bison which very heavily advanced then the original so much that it amazed even them so the Indian army struggle makes it more capable we should respect them😊🫡
Most might have forgotten, Apart from two issues with SU-30 MKIs, there was one issue due to wrong placement of Quad fly-by-wire switches which caused a crash, due to being switched off mistakenly and a Minor issue of maintenance intensive AL-31 TVC engines causing reduced fleet availability. But later both of these issues were rectified very effectively, SU-30MKI best in class, and it is a Beautiful Mean Machine, Period.

Good that someone raised it. It is so sad that our own people are too negative about our defence even after so many years of successful military operations. Mir Jaffaron ki kami nahi hai iss desh me.
We all know that the Air skirmish post Balakot didn't go perfectly as planned. Our BVR range missiles had lost the edge against Pakistan and our primary interception aircraft being Mig 21 was outdated. Still we managed to defend our skies and even shot down a superior Aircraft. This tells a lot about training. These vulnerabilities have been worked upon. As a stop gap some newer versions of R 73 with enhanced range were bought immediately. Now the BVR segement is going a 360 degree overhaul with Astra mk 1 being inducted, Astra Mk 2 being tested and Astra MK 3 being developed. Our only problem is that untill and unless we are not pushed to the brink, we don't take pre emptive measures. Kargil resulted in induction of several key weapons and development of newer weapons. I just wish we come out of this syndrome and prepare ourselves
R 73 is not a BVR missile. It's a heat seeker. Also the fact that the IAF had no idea that their air to air weapons are obsolete even in comparison to those of a Bankrupt country's speaks volumes about their lack of professionalism. They had to wait for the 27 Feb failure to realize that
IAF should have scrambled more advance fighters. Swift retort exposed lack of modern air superiority fighter in Indian airforce but we only inducted 36 Rafale and only 18 came on Western border. IAF should have gome for additional 36 Rafale.

Modifications implemented by IAF on this machine overcome most of shortcomings compared to other flankers ..with constant upgradation and modification to carry Brahmos is also testimony that it's versatile and it's formidable force in IAF. The so called flanker moves which you actually see su30 doing are always done without bearing full load. Have you ever seen the flanker doing those stunts with full load no you have n't no one has because it can't . so su30 is good for optics and is good if you have decent awacs systems. but you lack awacs and engine snag is a headache of su30 . now the problem will be intensified due to russia ukraine war you won't get many spares easily. so good luck if you belive su30 is best fighter. no it is not.

Post Balakot, IAF won the battle in the skies and promptly lost it in the media. Has anything been done to fix it. I don’t want to comment on individuals but while Junior officers have exhibited top class professionalism in battles, the leadership has been very mediocre. In some instances it has gone pretty ugly.
We need to audit leadership courses and training our officers are getting mid-career. Something is giving somewhere.

I think that number has also became outdated as China is ramping up their production of fighters, Also Pakistan will do the same if their economy persists weather through US support or otherwise. Logically, it should be more than 42 in 2035 when we will get actually practically/realistically close to achieving that number.

That's true... S-400 doesn't have an Indian made Mission Computer unlike our Su-30 MKI or Mig-29 Upg fleet. The S-400 would have to be upgraded with an Indian made Mission Computer as well as Surveillance as well as Fire Control Radars.
For those who question the capabilities of Su30MKI...need to listen to 2008 video of USAF Col. (who unfortunately created sme controversy in india with his remarks - go find sme place else to fly :D) where, he clearly mentioned that once the Indian pilots learn more n gain more experience on SU30s..they will be able to beat the F15s and the F16s in a regular basis..and this included BVR combat as well...

One of the podcast done by that so called defence expert was on Jaipur Dialogues show at timestamps 1 hour 8 mins and 1 hour 12 mins where this claim was made.
The name of the podcast is disecting modern fighter jets, to which the current vedio was quite articulately represented.
There are more outrageous claims in this podcast only which have been countered by alpha defence channel in recent months, namely
1. Tejas aircraft/ AMCA cannot engage in cooperative engagement without using radio channels. This claim was countered by Tejas mk2 cockpit demonstration.
2. JF17 is a better aircraft than Tejas because it got export success with countries who are actually India's adversaries. If we ourselves follow the latest news there have been cracks emerging in JF17 fuselage and pak airforce has grounded that aircraft (Alpha defence can throw more light on this).
3. Tejas mk1a fits no where in air to air combat today, it just fits in giving incompetent people/ scientists jobs. This point has already been countered by presenting the radars, ew suite and weapons package Tejas mk1a will come with. Also IAF sent FOC Tejas for aerial exercise desert flag where it's performance was descent and was praised.
4. His final remarks that IAF is doomed forever.
Overall I really thank alpha defence for fact checking these outrageous claims and presenting them to veiwers and that too with a neutral standpoint.

1. Tejas MK2 is not mine it's IAF's war waging asset, also Tejas MK2 is ADA's project HAL acts as an assembler the prototype is already under testing in france.
2. There are close to 3 squadrons of mig-21(50 to 60 in number) against which 83 tejas mk1a are ordered as a replacement for point defence roles.
3. IAF has two squadrons of Tejas which have been in service for 4 to 6 years evaluating their performance IAF has placed order for MK1A platforms, If you see India today conclave of September 2019 the former Air Chief Marshal Birendra Singh Dhanoa has testified that it's a good aircraft better than Pakistan's JF17s and I will go by his statement.

I don’t think SU30 has problem. I think problem was with missiles inventory which we had. There was a radical change in missile inventory for SU30. Only surprising decision was MIg21 deployed and not Tejas.

Most might have forgotten, Apart from two issues with SU-30 MKIs, there was one issue due to wrong placement of Quad fly-by-wire switches which caused a crash, due to being switched off mistakenly and a Minor issue of maintenance intensive AL-31 TVC engines causing reduced fleet availability.
But later both of these issues were rectified very effectively, SU-30MKI best in class, and it is a Beautiful Mean Machine, Period.

We all know that the Air skirmish post Balakot didn't go perfectly as planned. Our BVR range missiles had lost the edge against Pakistan and our primary interception aircraft being Mig 21 was outdated. Still we managed to defend our skies and even shot down a superior Aircraft. This tells a lot about training. These vulnerabilities have been worked upon. As a stop gap some newer versions of R 73 with enhanced range were bought immediately. Now the BVR segement is going a 360 degree overhaul with Astra mk 1 being inducted, Astra Mk 2 being tested and Astra MK 3 being developed. Our only problem is that untill and unless we are not pushed to the brink, we don't take pre emptive measures. Kargil resulted in induction of several key weapons and development of newer weapons. I just wish we come out of this syndrome and prepare ourselves
