In my opinion, as a 40 year veteran of the motor trade, if you change your oil and filter every 6 mths/ 10,000 km, you shouldn't be worrying about plugged filters, so using wesfil is a great cheaper option to use for people who are money concious, trying to save without compromising quality.

I think the media is one of the most important part

Hi Joseph, thanks for your feedback. I agree, I think all the parts of this filter are quite well done. Apart from the filter media unfortunately 😕

I would still use it over a RYCO, so many issues with Ryco.

Hi, love your in-deepth reveiw of this filter (not what I expected), which I was ready to buy. Can you recommend a brand of oil filter (Z386) that won't break the bank, for my partner's Toyota Corolla AE112 - 2001, 4Cyl, Sedan / Liftback please? Thank you

Construction observations are one thing…. But what about the important things? Efficiency, flow and life… the Wesfil filters are not Ryco.

    Walk into dealers.
    Buy the original filter.
Pay +30% more than the unknown filter that could wreck your engine.

Should not these filters have a magnet to stick metals if they get added to the oil from the engine?
