That solo really got me interested in jazz playing. I was in high school and had just started guitar lessons. There were so many licks in there that were "accessible" to my brain since I didn't understand how jazz worked at the time... it was a fantastic bridge from pop to be-bop. Thank you, Grant Geissman!
🤯 I was in high school when Feels So Good came out, which wound up being in introduction to (smooth) jazz. Consequently, Grant was the first jazz guitar player I really heard and paid attention to. I saw Chuck Mangione live at the Universal Ampitheater around 1980 (when the theater was still open air) and was crushed when I found out Grant wasn't playing with the bad that night. I was just listening to "Main Squeeze" on the Live at the Hollywood Bowl album. Grant's guitar solo is one of the most amazing I've heard to date. What an amazing musician!
Honestly... this has a,ways been my favorite guitar solo... ever. I get chills every time I hear it and wish I could get that sound on my own guitar. It really does “Feel so good.” This living room performance is a real treat. Bravo!
LOVE IT!!! My favorite guitar solo EVER! I was lucky enough to work around Chet Atkins in the early nineties, and got to watch great guitar players- as good as they all were, FEELS SO GOOD has a SPECIAL PLACE in music!!! And it WOULDN'T BE THE SAME without the UNBELIEVABLE guitar solo!!! It's one of my EVERYDAY songs I listen to in the morning. THANK YOU for your BRILLIANT, BEAUTIFUL and MELODIC playing. I'm going to listen to it NOW!!! TW
Oh My God...I first heard Grant at a Chuck Mangione concert. I then followed him (& Gordon Goodwin) all over LA. The funniest time was at Two Dollar Bills. Someone asked for the volume to be turned down, because they were trying to talk to their friends LOLOL only in LA. Thanks so much for this video, it's wonderful to see & hear the magic up close & personal. Cheers!
"where" did this solo come from? One take wonder? Still just incredible. As a struggling guitarist of 45 years: watch his right hand. He strums thru this so easily.
Wow, thanks for sharing this video. Feels So Good is a great song but that incredible guitar solo turned it into a masterpiece. Kind of like the solo in Hotel California, you never get tired of listening to it.
weather report had more audiences and sold out concerts ..and millions of albums sold..only because jaco pastorious style jazz rock. and Chuck Mangione sold millions of albums of" feels so good" anywhere in the world because of the guitar solo of Grant G.
That solo is extremely difficult. I’ve been practicing for weeks and I still ain’t got it. I’ve been playing a long time. I put slot of time into my acoustic fingerpicking and stopped playing electric for 10 years. Now I can’t play Solos anymore
That's an amazing solo... it's even more amazing to hear it played on an acoustic guitar.
This will always get my vote for best solo in a pop song, ever. His phrasing is literally its own song. Watching him play it on an acoustic...wow.
Gets my vote too!
One of the best solos in history~~!!!!!!
This solo never fails to take the whole world to the next level.
One of the best solos ever.
I’ve looked everywhere in music all over time, this solo is the best
That Guitar Solo Feels So Good! 🙂

It's an absolutely burnin' solo that's also incredibly melodic.

I have always loved this solo. Grant is a such an expressive jazz player! Thanks for uploading this.
I can listen to this all day.
The best solo EVER!!! ❤
in the late 70 Grant G scare many studio guitar players cause his solo in " feels so good.
As cool today as it was 30+ years ago...great work!
The album was released in Dec of 77. I can't believe it's been 40 years... almost. The song FSG became a hit in the spring of 78. I feel so old.
Haha, I feel the opposite. Hearing this absolutely brought me back to when I was just a 20 something girl. what great memories.
Honestly... this has a,ways been my favorite guitar solo... ever.
I get chills every time I hear it and wish I could get that sound on my own guitar.
It really does “Feel so good.”

Genious
The master.
Made my day. I feel so good.
Grant is a monster! Those phrases with the 16th note triplets always kick my ass. Wish I could do that! 😎
That solo is the finest art. I kinda always lose my shirt 😂 whenever I anticipate it coming up in the song. Chris Vadala's sax solo too.
That solo is difficult enough on electric, but on acoustic it’s insane.
It sounds better on acoustic for some reason! I can actually hear all the notes better!
Thank you Grant!!! Cheers from Tanauan City Batangas Philippines 🇵🇭❤️🙏
that is one of the most amazing solos I ever heard didn't know this clip existed! amazing!
Wow !
Best ever! Take that, Larry Carlton!

how come could Grant compose this solo? what was inspired him?
This is such a travesty! How come Grant Geismann isn't up there with the greats? The press, I tell you. The darn press...
So out of control!!
