Thank you very much that was an excellent walk-through Brother
I’m going to give your steps a shot. That’s the exact mower I have with the same problem. I’ll update the results
you got this!
Thank you it helped me help my little sister with her lawn mower.
Outstanding video Sir, I really appreciated how you made it easy.. Thank you. Wade Out.
Prime for a good time , one of the quickest assessment methods you can use .I love to see this .
Thanks, Chris.
I did the exact same method and it works.thank you for that helpful tip
Great job fixing it yourself!
Really good video..im taking my time working on this type mower...I know i complain but it kills me when they put 2 different size bolts holding carb on...geez.
What a great tutorial. 👍
This work perfectly for my mower and now it works. Thanks 🙏
That's great news! Good job fixing it yourself!
Thanks Great video. I fixed my mower thanks to you.
Thanks, Mike. Good job doing it yourself.
I've had one of these for a long while (traded out parts from one older to a newer) and they get the job done. Recently though it started having some starting issues so I'll have to give this a try.
I have one that isn't wanting to start, I'll try that. Thank you.
Thank you for the video
Great vid Buck. I'd be hesitant about carb spray on those O rings maybe. Although I haven't done near as many as you.
Thank you
I will have to try that. My lawnmower stopped working. I drained the gas and oil. Hopefully it will work
Mine wouldn't start even with cleaning the carb out. Just replaced it with a new one. Runs now, but it pulses. Any ideas to fix that?
My son's Bolen's lawn mower has started this season. I loaded this video on my phone and s few tools and went over and attempted this. Now I'm 72 and little slower but followed the video and 30 minutes later the mower was running. This is a very easy to follow video and it may not solve every problem but certainly solves this one. I do have question there is a hose behind air filter that you don't show. There is a hole in the air filter in your video right above the primer button. Where does that hose go?
Not sure what hose you're referring to...maybe the crankcase breather tube that plugs into the air cleaner housing....?
Great video Buck! However, since it was a freebie , can we assume correctly that you checked oil before running and after repair!
Oil? What's that? Ha ha!
The Briggs 450e benefits from opening the carb jet to 20 thousandths - a stripped bread wire tie can be used to check that the jet is clear and big enough. Doing this helps the motor run better and cuts down on the need for carb cleanings. 👍
Good tips, thanks!
I would have to say that your ten-minute fix theory is largely dependent on the degree of customer neglect. I will agree that most of the issues focus on the carb (and associated linkages), lack of spark or compression. However some of those machines come in with multiple issues which take considerable time to repair. Like your channel, thanks for the vid. 👍👍
You are right, of course. I think what I'm trying to do with the "10-minute fix" theory is demonstrate to the average person that a non-starting lawn mower can probably be fixed by any ambitious DIYer with standard hand tools. It's worth giving it a try, with nothing to lose except a little time.
Buck, I have followed your video exactly and I am sure the carb and those little holes are clean. Mower still won’t start. I used fresh clean gas. It started for a second with the engine starting fluid. But won’t start after carb cleaned. What am I missing?
Junky little engines, really. Probably not your fault. You can buy those white plastic jet inserts, or even just replace the entire carburetor pretty cheaply. I'd try one of those options before giving up.
What happens if it starts but doesn't stay running turns off immediately???
It's probably still a fuel-related issue. Maybe it gets a shot of fuel when you push the primer bulb, but once started it needs to pull fuel from the carburetor bowl and through the main jet. You've got to clean out (or replace) that main jet.
The mower is in shadow, and I don’t know what the carburetor is.
It took me ten minutes to remove the screws I needed to.
If I can get it on….I’ll sell it to the neighbor 🤔
Lost my pin that snaps on and holds the float on. Ended up running to the store and snipped a finishing nail in half. Easy peasy.
Most resourceful! Nice job!
