Congratulations to Dee for winning Survivor 45! But how did she do it and where did the others in the Final 5 go wrong? Jeff Probst said this season was about relationships and secrets within them, and the fact that Dee and Austin made it to the end together shows one aspect of that - but it certainly doesn’t tell anywhere near the whole tale. David Bloomberg and Jessica Lewis do have that full story as they discuss the games of each of the Final 5. It’s time to figure out Why Dee Won, and Austin, Jake, Katurah, and Julie Lost.

i think katurah assumed dee and julie were voting her, because why would anyone vote for jake if hes playing an idol for himself, austin was immune, and she knows them well enough to know they're not voting each other. she knows jake is voting dee and austin is voting julie. her vote is the vote to force a 2-2 tie with herself and either dee or julie. if she votes dee and the vote is 2-2-1, katurah goes on the revote (austin and julie both vote dee to stay over katurah.) so she has to vote julie because in that tie she stays(austin and jake vote julie out over her). thats why i think jake is more to blame for not telling her he was playing the idol on her than she is for the final 5 vote.
16:39 Yeah but Dee is clearly the Boston Rob in this relationship, and Austin is the Amber. Obviously not in terms of placement in the game, but in terms of their personalities and dynamic.
26:21 I never understood what all the fuss was about that (other than Dee potentially making Austin a target for Julie) because I think, in a game with a final 3, it’s completely fine to have two number ones.
Great podcast again, thank you. If I ever had a serious urge to try to get on Survivor you guys would have been a "must watch". Watched your podcasts anyway because they were such good entertainment. This year I am super glad Dee won, she had it all. Austin would have been a good winner too but he was just a touch less worthy than Dee. While Jake and Kiturah were great characters I never thought either of them were actually very good players, they both squandered good strategy opportunities throughout the game.
I can't work out how Katurah switching her vote from Dee to Julie at final five can possibly benefit her, if she thinks that she herself is getting the votes. Even if Austin voted Julie (as he did) that would at best create a 2-2 tie with Katurah who would be eliminated on the revote. It would only work in the very unlikely event that Jake switched his vote from Dee to Julie as well.
Bad players gonna misplay, from final 6 onwards the only player I didn't wanna see take it was Katurah.
Agree I am still trying to play this in my head. If she knows Julie is voting Jake and Austin is voting Julie where is the votes to get her out coming from I don’t see Jake putting her name down bc he said he wanted Julie gone so with that information the only person putting her name down is Dee. Unless she had no idea Julie was voting for Jake. If she thought it would be Julie and Dee voting her that would cause a tie and I don’t see Julie leaving in a re vote. I just think she dropped the ball on this.
She tried to get Julie to vote off Dee, and saw that wasn't happening ...Of course, she couldn't vote off Austin, because he had immunity, and Jake had an immunity idol, so no votes against him would count (considering that he thought he'd play his idol on himself) ...She knew that Austin would not vote off Dee ..So, the only other person who she felt could possibly be voted off, other than herself, was JULIE - that was the SAFEST vote! Obviously, she was NOT convinced that Jake would vote "Dee", being that she spent ALL DAY trying to convince Jake that he should vote out Dee ...and AUSTIN STATED in a recent that he was set on voting off Katurah, but it was JAKE who convinced him to vote for Julie!
So, WHY would Katurah have been convinced that Jake would vote "Dee"?
...and remember: Jake showed his immunity idol to AUSTIN before showing it to Katurah (who was his, supposed, ally & original team member), and you only show someone your HIDDEN immunity idol if you are trying to make an alliance with them ...and Katurah knew that making an alliance with Austin would automatically mean that you're making an alliance with Dee.
Now, Jake now claims in interviews that he was trying to get everyone to vote off Katurah, so that he could use his idol on Katurah, which he DID NOT tell Katurah he would do, wanting her to be in this state of "fear", believing that everyone was voting against her ..and Katurah spoke on how everyone (including Julie) were talking towards her with this "pity", making her feel as if she would be voted out...
...So, it's obvious that she didn't trust that Jake would vote on Dee, and she felt that there may have been a chance that he would still be trying to target Julie ..being that it appeared as if he was trying to be in an alliance with Dee and Austin..
2 + 2 = 4
P.S. Jake had LIED and misheld info from Katurah before ..and people on this show LIE on the "Nanas" all the time (I think Dee even told such a lie).
@@Lisa-uc5rx Katurah KNEW Julie was voting for Jake? Was that confirmed? Because she spoke in an exit video as if Julie was, also, talking at the end of the day as if she would "have to make a tough decision" ..and was Julie told about Jake's idol? WHY would Julie waste a vote on Jake, if she knew that he had an immunity idol ...???? ...and here's another question: WHY aren't people questioning JULIE on not going along with KATURAH's plan in voting off Dee, as they are "questioning" (or attacking) Katurah for not going along with Jake? I mean ...NO ONE is telling Julie how she "gave the money away to Dee" ..WHY IS THAT? Rhetorical question, btw ..
Julie flat out told Keturah she wasn’t voting out Dee. They were planning on going to the end together. Julie said she just didn’t believe Jake had an idol that was her mistake. Austin said he voted for Julie bc Jake convinced him at the reward that she was such a threat. That whole tribal council was ridiculous. I mean I would have loved for Keturah to vote out Dee with Jake that would have been great. I was just more confused as to whether or not she knew if Julie was voting for Jake bc that is what David and Jessica said in the video so if she knew then her switch doesn’t make sense.

David some of your observations are off. The reason Katurah hate exists was because it was HER plan to vote for Dee, she even said in interviews she spent hours trying to convince Jake to vote off Dee. From a standpoint of game theory, when you know Austin/Dee are both challenge beasts and will take each other to the end, you must ignore trust and see what is truly in the best interest of everyone involved. That is voting off Dee and would give agency to her decisions, and letting her beat Julie/or someone else in fire next round. In terms of winning the Jury, many people including Jeff said Julie had lots of agency in decisions including Emily vote off, and she was more liked than Dee.
..but ..why would there even be "h8te"? It's just a show... smh ..You didn't lose any money ..People are, actually, going to this woman's page to harass her as if a million was taken from their bank account ..What I've witnessed is ridiculous ..Emily has "flipped" on Sabiyah, Kaleb, Bruce, and Kellie, and she is PRAISED (don't see ANY of this "h8te") ..So, obviously, this "h8te" is more about a BIAS, which I've addressed in recent streams, considering what I've witnessed in social media...
Trust me, these people are not attacking her on social media because she didn’t play game theory optimal. They’re doing it because they believe Jake deserved to win and blame her for that not happening. I’ve seen plenty of these people attacking her for that reason all over social media and it’s very clear.
@@DavidBloombergTV ...You are right, but Jake STILL would not have won, as we saw in him not receiving a final vote, and neither would have Katurah ...It would have been Austin, and I'd bet Mama Julie over Jake and Katurah ..and the Jake supporters should have no real issue with Katurah voting Julie off, because that is what Jake had, initially, planned and pitched to Austin - he got the final 4 that he wanted ...and he got to defeat someone at making fire, making it to the final 3 ...You see, the REAL ISSUE, IMO, is that they are upset that Jake lost the million to this Cuban female, and they are taking it out on Katurah, which is easy to do (notice how Dee's win is being played down as just being a "giveaway") ...They wouldn't have mind, so much, if Austin was the #1 ...
They were attacking her back when she was crap talking Bruce. She had to get off social media for a while.
@@conniewillis6756 ..I didn't witness the H8TE that I am witnessing, now - there were people who seemed quite AMUSED by Katurah's complaints against Bruce. Now, there were those, like myself, who expressed disapproval of her continuously harping on Bruce in the confessionals, because we didn't see him as being "so bad" ..but there wasn't this H8TE that I am, now, witnessing ..BTW, I spoke in disapproval of Katurah a month ago, BEFORE I listened to and read the aftershow interviews, where she (and Kaleb) has spoken on what the cameras DID NOT show. If someone is yelling at you, berating you, and being extra critical of you, I don't think that it's "crap talking" to just express how they are ANNOYING you - you shouldn't have to stay silent. It's not like she got profane, called Bruce out of his name, or belittled him as a man ..she still tried to respect him, and be "obedient" ...and usually, people in the confessionals are responding to what the producers are questioning them on, and I can imagine the producers asking her REPEATEDLY about Bruce, for "good tv" ...There is an article with her speaking on how the confessionals were her "safe space" ....Kaleb, also, spoke on how Bruce was treating him like his "b-word", no matter how nice he tried to be ..and he, also, spoke on how Katurah was on the OUTS with her team, which he didn't understand, which is why she switched her support to Reba.
