New Holland 1431 Discbine Upper Module Lube

Some Preventative maintenance on the 1431, trying to avoid another costly repair on the discbine. I lost a #9 module bearing on Sunday Afternoon last week , which really brought the haymowing to a halt. I am attempting to get grease in the upper module bearings after noticing the new modules came with a grease-filled bearing.... Apparently the upper module bearings don't get any lube from the lower module reservoir. Also, this is a good time to remove the twine that was built up under the upper module. I mowed about 250 acres without incident before the bearing failure.

How do the the pinion gear out of the module

How did you get the shaft out of the module

Cut it off straight. Center drilled it. drilled most of it out with slightly bigger drill bits each time. Lastlyly I used a small die grinder to very carefully grind the remainder of the shaft out of the bore. I had to be very careful not to grind the splines that are in the module. Took about 3 hours.
