Wow, man I had no idea that happened during the filming of this movie. Madison and I are big River Phoenix fans, we even named our son River.
This man blew up or attempted to blow up an elevator, bus, plane, and train. He clearly has something against any form of public transportation.
Im not mad at anyone else for not noticing it but very glad y'all did about the plane explosion from the bus. They were pulling it from the outside, no one was in it.
This movie made my mom love Keanu. I still love this movie. Music and all.
Great reaction! One of my favourite films. I laughed like crazy hearing the words 'this movie is really stressing me out' as i thought, wait until Sanda Bullock hits the baby buggy lol.
I saw this movie about a bus that had to *speed* around a city, keeping its *speed* over fifty, and if its *speed* dropped, it would explode! I think it was called ''The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down."
Keanu and Sandra had huge crushes on each other while filming this movie but neither of them acted on it and years later they both found out during an interview and they seemed kinda disappointed.
But Keanu said with Ellen DeGeneres..Yes,we had a crush,but we were working..talk about beautiful kids,Sandra is so sweet & Keanu good looking.A mix of them..
My biggest issue with the movie is the tagged on the ending with the train sequence. I get that the studio was behind it, so I don’t blame the people making the film. But man, it felt so unnecessary.
A better ending would have been to have Harry secretly survive the explosion at the house and manage to track down Payne’s hideout and kill him in a stand-off, just as Jack and Annie make their escape from the bus. That way the film’s running time could have been shortened. Maybe even save more on the budget.
One of the best films I've ever seen in my life and a great reaction too. 👍

You have to forget the physics and get lost in the adrenaline pumping action, it's non stop.
A stunt man actually jumped the bus twice.. in a parking lot. They made a wooden ramp (which you can actually see in the movie and why the front lifted up lol) The stunt man messed up the jump the first time and crashed the bus, destryoing it. They had to find a new bus and rig it in two days and try again. The second time, he nailed the jump and the bus actually went over 100 feet, way further than they thought it would go and, it landed directly on a camera.. destroying it also. Jeff Daniels filmed this and Dumb and Dumber at the same time.. his name is Harry in both movies.
He didn't work on the movies at the same time... he shot his scenes for speed in fall of 93 and shot most of his scenes for dumb and dumber later, dumb and dumber shot in early 94 and was released in December 94
Interesting,I read of facts that the first jump was"too perfect" so they had to do it again..
Best reaction quote, "L.A. sucks, nothing's finished here!" LOL! I still remember the very first time I saw this movie in theaters and going, "Oh Wow, is that Keanu??". I saw it multiple times in theaters. I feel I'm in the minority who actually enjoyed the sequel. Yes, it was a big step down, but still fun & entertaining. You cannot talk about the best Keanu movies without mentioning Point Break with Patrick Swayze. Of all his movies, Point Break still remains my favorite of his, even over the Matrix movies & John Wick movies, but this movie, Speed, is in my top 3 or 4 favorite Keanu movies. Other favorites of his early career, are Johnny Mnemonic (very underrated sci-fi), The Devil's Advocate, Bram Stoker's Dracula, A Walk in the Clouds, Feeling Minnesota, Sweet November, The Replacements, The Night Before, Street Kings & Parenthood.
Funny thing is, I would go to LA to visit my cousin and there would be road construction going on all over the place and then a few months later when I would come back the same places were still being worked on and I was like "man, do they ever finish anything here?"
We used to call the college, Under Construction at Los Angeles (UCLA).
If you like the fast-paced action of this, you should check out 1993's Twister, also directed by Jan de Bont and it also has Alan Ruck in it.

Keanu was great in 1989's Parenthood with Rick Moranis, Steve Martin and an A list cast. An absolute classic.

22:40 actually, if the bus tipped over they can remain stationary and kept on pressing the pedal. The bomb wouldn't have known.
The only problem then is that Howard would either see it on his camera feed or learn about it via the media then would likely trigger the bomb himself.
She wasn’t worried about getting out the elevator, but when she got out, she was worried that she left her shoe also the stupid lady with the cans in the carriage. She just walked right out not looking straight forward not thinking a vehicle. Would driving on the street. Why are there cans in a carriage with the thing that blocks out the sun up?
Y'all should check out Keanu and Sandra in 'The Lake House' (2006), too. 🧡

This movie was pretty unrealistic but they did a good job pulling it off. For me the only thing I had a hard time swallowing is the busses angle as it jumps the freeway gap. Just that angle as is lifts off the pavement then the cut to as it lands. To me they didn't match up. Other than that I was fine with the rest.

Remember the guy he stabbed in the ear at the beginning? I think that's who's body they found and thought it was the bomber.
Love this film but as a train driver the last bit is a bit fancyful!
Nobody makes these kinds of movies nowadays... if it were to be made today, this goes directly to streaming

The music in this movie might have inspired the composer for the 1998 game Metal Gear Solid, because some of it sounds really similar.
Watching this at a young age that woman that gets run over really hit hard.
Its actually kind of cute that they had a crush on each other during this but never told each other. It came out that they both felt that way decades later on Ellen I think.

I really like action film story lines where the villain seems unstoppable and they're winning at every turn. I would also recommend Con Air which has the same dynamic
Why is the car flying over the hill at the beginning of the movie? Because, it's a 90s action movie.

It is extremely important that you know your reaction to seeing the 50ft gap was completely legit and we had the same reaction when this movie first came out. Absolutely no one I know thought anything about that jump except "WTF."
Please don't judge us too harshly for our silly movies.
This was a great film to have seen in a theater. Personally I’ve seen the majority of it about 50 times in the theater as I worked at one while it was released.

It's funny cos this movie is set in LA during rush hour... and its the reason why this plan wouldn't work in reality cos the bus would never go over 50mph! lol.
