- Tour of Broadcast House a couple of weeks before closing for good and when most departments had already moved to Central Square. Showing C2 Studio Block, C1 Studio, newsroom, “edit corridor”, crew room, canteen, TV Pres and various walkways and corridors. Mostly places I was involved in so mainly TV areas. I worked here from 2014 to 2020 in News Operations before moving to Central Square and whilst this is nowhere near as long as some of my colleagues, I felt the need to document the place as seen seen through my eyes. Working there was frustrating at times, battling ageing technology, making the most of limited resources and walking miles between departments. But, the place did have a buzz about it and contained a lot of history and part of that history is my history.
The pic at the end is the first picture I took of the building, just after stepping off the bus and arriving for my interview in July 2014.

Thanks for making this Dean, I’m dreading seeing the building raised to the ground, after the best part of a quarter of a century as a member of staff, it was my second home. I’m glad I got the chance to say ‘goodbye’ in February,
Carol Gerrard Yes, it’ll be strange when it’s not there anymore. I’m glad I got chance to do this vid.
Beautifully done Dean, as always. I'm so happy you made a video record of Broadcast House before it's torn down.
Lovely Dean, cheers for this!
thx for sharing, ex. red bee here in Sweden, enjoyed the video.
very sad....although i hope the computers where properly shut down before being unplugged
I’m sure BBC employees won’t be able to comment, but as a layperson the Llandaff complex looks a far better working environment than New Broadcasting House, Cardiff. Lots of space, greenery, stone walled corridors etc.
Both have their advantages and disadvantages. I do miss the history and the greenery and stuff like you say, but the tech there was ancient... We're now probably the most technologically advanced building at the BBC and the output has improved dramatically.
Was the S4C set and Wales Today in the same studio - or separate?
Lee Smith same studio with different wraparounds on the smaller desk and different lighting. Will be the same setup in the new building.
Demolished?
Soon... :(
I'm not from around these parts but is this a different Broadcasting House than the one in London?
Yes it is, It's in Llandaff, Wales.
In London
