    Absolute best movie of the year, I can’t stop thinking about it. Flat out phenomenal film. The soundtrack too is amazing

      Exactly, definitely one of my favorite movies of the year as well. Wonder how the sequel is gonna go though...

    It’s one of my top movies this year. A great way to end the year as well. They deserve an Oscar for their hard work.

    Nice review. Very well done. Thank you for making sure we understood you have not seen the other TOHO movies and have only been exposed to the Legendary movies. So for you having Godzilla as the villain was refreshing and new to you. I highly recommend you watch at the very least the original Gojira.
    -
    Minus One I believe is the 33rd Godzilla movie from TOHO. Godzilla has gone through many iterations through the decades. I enjoy all of them and love how Godzilla can be shown in so many ways. But as far as human stories, most Godzilla films are mediocre at best. Gojira and Minus One are the exceptions. If you can find the original Gojira with subtitles would be best. In the American one, many of the original scenes were cut out and replaced with American studio-shot scenes that introduced new characters or information. In addition, the few scenes of the original that remained were dubbed or overlaid with English so that the audience would not have to read their way through the movie. The American release is still a good watch, but the added American scenes are rather dull even with Raymond Burr. It is black and white and was released in 1954, I think you will see why Godzilla has endured for so long.
    -
    As for watching all the other TOHO ones. I say go for it, I enjoy all of them and freely admit that some are very campy and others can be very dark and serious. The effects range from very basic and oftentimes reuse of scenes shot in previous movies(the Showa era was notorious for that) to some clever practical effects and CGI on a budget. Yes there are different Eras:
    -Shōwa era (1954-1975)
    -Heisei era (1984-1995)
    -Tristar American 1998 (I do not like to mention this one, it is more a giant lizard in New York than Godzilla. It is a fun and charming movie, but a disappointment to every Godzilla fan. TOHO actually had a Godzilla of theirs fight a bunch of these lizards in a bit of fun mockery of the movie. If you watch this and do not think of it as a Godzilla movie, it has its charms and is not terrible, not great, but not terrible. Just not Godzilla)
    -Millennium era (1999-2004)
    -Reiwa era (2016-present)
    -American films (Legendary 2014-present).

    Since FUCKING WHEN review means "spoil and narrate the movie???"

    • @Chilled_Blue
      @Chilled_Blue  Před 8 měsíci +2

      I literally mentioned the spoiler warning when I was gonna talk about spoilers. And I narrate the movie so people understand what I'm talking about which is not a spoiler. And plus, many movie review videos spoil movies and give a brief narrative of the movie so...

    • @gaberiando
      @gaberiando Před 8 měsíci +1

      Ok let me address you in a more calm and objective way:
      1.- You say "characters" and then begin to tell the story of then before the spoiler warning, there is part of the narrative lost because of that. Specially in a movie with a narrative like this where there charachters are so fleshed out
      2.-"There is a lot of people doing it" is not an excuse, is exactly the problem. Critical Drinker has the same problem, resumes the complete movie and then gives his opinion, there is a lot of people doing it and and it is objectively cheap and lazy. Beyond that takes away a lot from the experience.
      A lot of people watching wanna know if the movie is good, wants to know the opinion of someone else.That is why a lot of reviewers do a "none spoiler review" and one with spoilers. i got to this channel because was looking for opinions on the movie wich is really hard to see in my country, just tog et the few minutes revealed.
      3.- Movie reviews and other opinions has existed as long ad there has been away to communicate them and is almiost a common consense that you do it while keeping the most of the story unrevealed so people can enmjoy the original idea and vision of the author.
      4.-Am saying this as a person that used to review movies and videogames, they gave us rules and reasosns for this.
      5.- My exasperation came from being the 5th or 6th channel i was looking for to have an opinion about the movie before making the long trip to be able to watch it, and just found that "review" now just means: "Let me tell you the story making a couple of comments and jokes around it"
      Is just nerving to see this kind of reviews but i apologize for my exhabrupt.
      Finally is just my opinion, take or leave it it will be there the same way that yours and millions of other youtube channels will be waiting for a new subscriber wich i plan to give them the moment tat i found someone that understand that concept.
      Good luck to you

      I've read the response and I respect your valid opinion. Here are my takes or my opinions on what you've said:
      1. The basic description of a story that has already been given is not a spoiler. Saying that the movie takes place after a Japanese war is not a spoiler. It's been shown in the trailers and the basic description in the Theater website. Literally, the description of the movie states "Japan, devastated after the war, faces a new threat in the form of Godzilla. How will the country confront this impossible situation?" And I summarized this statement in my own words which, again, isn't a spoiler. I actually cut like half of this statement down. When I want to talk about characters, I wanna talk about the world and setting they are in and what happened in order to give my reason as why the character is a good character and why I think you should care.
      2. I was not using it as an excuse. People do mention spoilers and talk about what happens because just to give a quick summary of the movie because there are people who genuinely do not care about spoilers or know nothing about it and want to get some information about the movie. But the reason why I think some channels spoil the movie, hence the reason I do it, is so people can hear and see how I saw the story and they have a better understanding about what I am talking about. It's not cheap and lazy if they're incorporating their own thoughts into it and describing how they feel. And I did put my thoughts into the movie. I gave my thoughts on the characters, some things that were new to me like Godzilla being a villain and my thoughts on the ending. I still gave my opinions and in the end, I said the movie was awesome and people should go see it.
      3. I don't disagree with you there, but when people do mention spoilers, they usually give a warning when spoilers are going to be said. In my video, I talk about the ending which was a clear spoiler and I literally give a clear warning before I talk about it. So I still kept a lot of what happens in the movie unrevealed and when I reveal a part of it, I give people the chance to click away.
      4. I dunno who's "They" so I dunno how to respond to that. But it's cool that you used to do movie and game reviews, I'd like to check some of them out.
      5. I understand where you're coming from but what I do not get is that I clearly stated my thoughts after giving a quick 10 second summary of the basic description of the story that is not even a spoiler.
      Edit: Plus, I thought spoilers meant revealing something very shocking or important or crucial of a plot point in the story. What I explained after I said "characters" is something the audience finds out right at the beginning of the movie and, again, it's a short summary for the audience so they know somewhat of what they're going to watch. It doesn't hinder certain surprises or moments.
      I respect your opinion and I see where you're coming from, thing is, I didn't spoil anything that was already been said before. If you've read what I had to say then thank you and have a good one :)
