Easy fix for blown head-gasket, does it work?

  • Today I try out steel seal on my rubbish d24 engine with a blown head. It’s a risk free experiment as they offer a full refund if it does not work. I don’t completely trust these treatments and Definetly wouldn’t rely on a vehicle with it having been done, however if it’s to prolong the life of an engine short term then I would recommend

Used that stuff in the attempt to fix leaking heater matrix on my vauxhall frontera 2.2dti first bottle fixed it for 6 month's then leaked again. Stuck a second one in and did the job permanently. Was suprised to find it caused no issues with the engine and the heater still worked fine

3 or 4 uncooked eggs in a cold engine. some times it gets in the cracks and makes a weird hard resin. If you drive hard it wont stay nothing will. The egg trick usually kills the water pump bearing.

    1) Should first check to see if leak is to oil galleys. Is there yellowish/ brown sludge in the engine oil fill cap. If so ,.clean it out and reinstall.
    2) should remove the thermostat, so
    3) with engine cold, drain at least 1 gal of anti freeze, remove thermostat and pour steel seal in, then top off with new coolant,
    4) start motor and fast idle , if need be put a piece of paper in front of radiator to help heat up.
    5) after about 1/2 hour at normal operationing temp, shut engine off and let cool down.
    6) drain enough coolant to reinstall the thermostat.
    7) top off anti freeze, start and drive.
    8) after about 500 miles, check engine oil fill cap for the Yellowish/ brown sludge. if none, probably good for a while.
    9) check coolant level periodically.
    10) if coolant is still disappearing but not leaking out, with engine cold remove spark plugs one at a time to see if traces of anti freeze .
    11) if there are, you'll need a second application.

@@devoyup3650 I do have to say though… you need to really flush the system BEFORE adding the solution or it won’t set up… idk where you live but if it isn’t frozen outside run the hose through your radiator and also take out your thermostat so you know the inner part of the engine is being flushed out too! I drained my system replaced with water, got it up to temp, parked and pulled the plug and repeated it 2-3 times before I added the solution just to be sure.
