This is the type of care given to the dead person before transferring them to the morgue.
When I performed the post mortem care I remembered the time that I saw the nurse did post mortem care to my nanay, I learned from that nurse and I apply that knowledge when I did the post mortem performance. It is very important to this to show them that we respect them and their dignity even if they are not here already.

Prior to college, I often asked myself the question, "How hard could this (Nursing) be?," After almost 2 semesters in, I still can't seem to answer this question. All I know is that it only gets harder from here. But thanks to all the lessons and experiences I've gotten from the return demonstrations up until the lectures for NUR 092, I also couldn't be more grateful and excited for what's to come, knowing that I only have growth to envision for myself now and moving forward.
As soon as we finished the return demonstration for Post Mortem Care specifically, I was able to benefit from a variety of newfangled ideas, and at the same time, reinvigorate my understanding of the things I already knew and/or only needed a reminder about. I've learned a lot of things, most of these things helpful for me to accurately initiate the right actions, words, attitude and level of competency as a student nurse.

My experience with the post-mortem was it was a fan's last encounter, which was simultaneously heartbreaking. Because you were caring for a patient who has passed away, but that's just life, you need to accept the truth that we are only here for a short while. Now that I've participated in a postmortem, even though it's just a practice, you need to fulfill your nursing obligations and acknowledge the fact that you were the one who provided care for the patient while he or she was alive.

Post Mortem is not only about giving care to the patient but also to give respect to the patient's body. The video helps me to understand how to post mortems correctly. After doing all the retdems especially Post Mortem I can slowly see what is being a Nurse.

In learning about post mortem, it helped me learn and understand that this process of care is important to the patient as it preserves and respect the client till death. The patient care does not end when the patient is pronounced dead by the doctor, after the patient died their care continues.

I've discovered that the nurse is in charge of various post-mortem care duties once the attending physician has declared a patient dead, including final documentation, care and final dispose of the body, and offering support to the family.
You will truly understand how to provide post-mortem care after seeing this video because it is so instructive. A deceased person's body is always handled with respect. I have anxiousness while performing post mortem care throughout our retdem since it is same like performing post mortem in real life. This video is a great resource for teaching nursing students the right way to perform a post mortem and when to begin.

Postmortem care should be provided as soon as possible to prevent tissue damage or disfigurement.
Learning the postmortem care has to be done with dignity and care to the patient and providing privacy is showing respect to the patient. With my experience its very new to me because you will encounter dead bodies and perform the correct steps of postmortem. It challenge me because its a bit scary but it really help me Gain more knowledge.

  • @marygraceongcoparker1289

Post mortem care is a procedure done after death of a patient once the doctor have pronounced the patient's death. This is done to prepare the patient for transferring to the morgue.
Prior to studying the steps of post mortem care I already had an idea of what would happen, but one thing that I didn't know was that this process has a lot of detailed steps to follow. Upon watching the video on post mortem care and the clinical instructor's demonstration on the post mortem care procedure, I slowly was able to better understand the steps that I was picturing out in my mind. When my turn came to do the return demonstration I was able to carry out the steps following what I've learned and after doing the return demonstration I was able to appreciate the care that nurses provide even after death. I've learned a lot of things from this experience, I learned that respect doesn't stop when a person expires and as an aspiring nurse one should always think about the patient's well being all throughout.

Through the video, it helped me learn and understand things about post mortem. And through return demonstration, i was about to show or present what i have learned. This process of care is important to patient as it preserves and respect the client after death. It shows compassion and reassurance to their families that our service will continue even after death. Throughout this video, I have learnt that caring patient's body after death, will not only preserve their body, it would also show that we us a nurse are doing our best to look after them beforehand.

  • @alysalykapantonial8338

Post mortem is not about taking care of a dead body but also giving respect to them. In this video it helps me to understand and learn about post mortem, as i've experience and learned things from it because even if it is already a deceased body i can also take care of them.

  • @graceylleoctaviovillareal7242

Providing care after someone dies involves treating their body with dignity, respecting their wishes, and supporting those important to them. It is important you understand exactly what is involved before you give your consent to a post mortem.
As society becomes more culturally diverse, As a student nurse members should be familiar with the ethics of death and dying, and sensitive to the patient and family members’ cultural practices. Maintaining the integrity of rituals and mourning practices gives families a sense of some familiarity and control in the face of death.

  • @GirlieIsabelleVillarmeaSaavedr

Patient care does not end when the patient is pronounced dead by the doctor. The nurse still needs to take care of the deceased patient by performing post mortem care. This is a form of showing respect to the deceased patient and to their loved ones as well. Last year, my grandfather passed away in his home, and we were there until his last breath. Looking back, I remembered how we took care of him as he passed away, but after performing the return demonstration of post mortem care, I realized the things that should have been done. The return demonstration was a learning experience.

  • @khythryndanykapacris1819

Learning about postmortem made me realize that patient care does not end with death. If a patient dies in a hospital or medical facility, the nurse is responsible for informing the attending physician, any other clinicians involved in the patient's care, and any other staff members who are needed (such as the house supervisor). Once the attending provider has declared a patient dead, we are in charge of many post-mortem care duties, such as final paperwork, body care and disposition, and family assistance. Because these responsibilities can be emotionally taxing, the nurse must also make time for self-care.

The term "post-mortem care" more specifically refers to the handling of a dead body, which involves body preparation and documentation as well as helping families before the body is delivered to a funeral home or alternative healthcare facility. A post-mortem procedure must be carried out on a patient who has passed away. We can grasp what the body represents throughout the performance if we prepare the patient for his family's viewing, make sure the patient is identified before being transported to the morgue or funeral, and provide enough resources for the patient's possessions. We were also taught that as part of this process, the designated nurses should run the corpse if the patient is already dead because it is the patient's final medical treatment before sending for patients.

Post Mortem Care is a procedure wherein nurses provide physical care to the lamented patient’s body, with sensitivity, manners, and respect for the patient’s cultural and religious background. Upon performing such tasks during retdem, one needs to remind themselves that care for patients does not only limit to those breathing, but to those who have also departed. Treating them with utmost respect and care, since such bodies are not an empty shells, but the remains of someone who holds memories on this earth, who has created memories with people on this earth, and have lived life itself. In becoming a future nurse, it is our responsibility to be able to deliver the patients' care, in life and during death.

Post Mortem Care: Performing, Caring, and Respecting
Post mortem care defines as providing physical care of the body of a patient who is deceased, to prepare the body for the viewing by the family and to prepare the body for transfer to the morgue.
From the video, I learned from it on how to prepare and do the post mortem care that focuses on how to perform it in a respectful and caring way. This will help me as a nursing student on how the correct way to perform it that respect the dignity of the patient.
While I performed the post mortem care, I experienced and learned things from it because even if it is already a deceased body I can also take care of it and handle it with care.

  • @sheramericabotilar2853

After learning about postmortem procedures, I realized that patient care does not end with death. If a patient dies while being treated in a hospital or medical facility, the nurse must notify the attending physician, any other clinicians involved in the patient's care, and the relevant staff. Once a patient has been certified deceased by the attending physician, we are in responsible of handling a number of post-mortem care duties, such as final paperwork, body care, and disposition, as well as offering assistance to the family. Because of how emotionally taxing these duties can be, the nurse needs to schedule time for self-care.

    POST MORTEM
    SUMMARIZATION
The first and most noticeable aspect of post-mortem care is the supervision of the deceased patient's body. To begin, the nurse prepares the body for transfer to the attending funeral provider in accordance with the specific guidelines and protocols established by the hospital or medical facility. This frequently entails taking a number of standard precautions, such as wearing gloves and other appropriate coverings while performing a series of detailed steps. It is generally considered good practice to gather any necessary medical equipment before providing care. Nurses are in charge of caring for and transporting the deceased body, documenting all events related to death (though they are not in charge of determining the cause of death), and providing support to the family whenever possible. They must also treat the body respectfully and coordinate all actions in accordance with the patient's religious or cultural beliefs.
    REFLECTION
In the post-mortem period, the nurse will prepare the body, in accordance with hospital or facility protocols. It should be provided as soon as possible to prevent tissue damage or disfigurement. Be sure to wear gloves and follow standard precautions when providing postmortem care. The nurse should always treat the body with dignity and respect. They may also provide the family with support or resources to cope before the body is transferred to another location.

  • @jodiashleyjumaday3172

The term "post-mortem care" refers more specifically to the treatment of a deceased person's body, including the preparation and documenting of the body as well as the offering of assistance to the families prior to the body's transportation to a funeral home.
The purpose of post-mortem care is to get the body ready for the mortuary to avoid physical deformation or discoloration, and to shield the body from discharge after death.
In the video I learned how to do the post mortem and the equipment needed. Also to respect and care the deceased while doing the post mortem and giving the family a time to bid goodbye.
While I performed the post mortem care I realized that it is not enough that you just prepare them before transferring to the morgue when you give respect to a living person, you should also give respect to the dead while you perform post mortem.

  • @rosemargarettepotestas6646

    Potestas, Rose Margarette A. 1BSN-A16
When a patient passes away, their body must be handled delicately and in a way that respects their religious or cultural beliefs. This care can be given both at home and in medical facilities. The medical team should be aware of ethical issues surrounding death and dying and attentive to the cultural practices of the patient and family as society grows more multicultural. Families experience a measure of familiarity and control in the face of death when rituals and mourning customs are upheld in their integrity. Within religious and cultural groups, there are individual differences. Avoid making the erroneous assumption that people of the same ethnicity will all react to death in the same way. When doing postmortem, it is important to take the family's particular requirements into account.
After death, the body undergoes many physical changes, including loss of skin elasticity and change in body temperature (algor mortis), purple discoloration of the skin (livor mortis), and a stiffening of the body (rigor mortis). It is important to give postmortem treatment as soon as possible to avoid tissue deterioration or deformity. After a person has passed away, the head of the bed should be raised, and a fresh pillow should be placed beneath the head before moving on to other tasks in order to prevent livor mortis of the face. For those who wish to watch and grieve for the patient, the health care team member should present the patient in a serene manner.

This is probably the practice that I don't want to do it in the future; just thinking about it makes me sad, but we can't do much about it because that's what we call life. I'm grateful that I've had the opportunity to practice how to do it properly, but I can't help but wonder if I'll be able to do it in the future, especially because I'm doing it in a real patient, but I chose this career, so I must hang on to my obligations since this is what I want to do.

Post-mortem care more closely relates to the treatment of a departed corpse, including the preparation and documenting of the body as well as the offering of assistance to families prior to delivery to a funeral provider or alternative medicine provider.
It is important to carry out post-mortem operations on a patient who has passed away. We were able to comprehend during the demonstration with the aid of this video what post-mortem entails: preparing the patient for viewing by family; guaranteeing proof of identity of the patient prior to transportation to the morgue or funeral home; and providing appropriate disposition of the patient's belongings. As part of this procedure, we were also taught that the assigned nurses should execute the post-mortem if the patient has already passed away because it is the patient's last medical treatment before being sent to the morgue.
