    Thank you so much for being so transparent! It’s so nice to know that having to revamp your homeschool doesn’t make you a failure for the years before it’s just a growth thing!

    Oh, moving is exhausting to a homeschool life. We moved this fall as well and it was crazy! As kids get older, it is such a balance of being there and yet letting them be independent. And every kids is different. Keeps us on our toes.

      I'd love to see how cmec has given more work to your older student. I have two form 2 and haven't even done their latin and grammar as it's all teacher dependent. In a large family there is only so much mother to go around and I don't want to ignore my littles.

      Please upload pics of your timetables to the CMEC site - I’d love to be able to see it! I’m currently trying to piece my timetable together and want to see more examples ❤️

    Sound like a great change! Where is the playlist for the folk dancing? I don’t know anything about it, but it might be a good fit for our homeschool!

    I switched this year to the CMEC and I have 6 kids (high school down to 4yrs) but we came from Classical Conversations. Anyway did you upload your timetables to the CMEC?? I would love to see how you’ve done yours as I’m working on mine. I saw the summer planning courses but want to see more examples! ❤️ please??

      I’d love to show you! I have a timetable for each day of the week. I can email you the Google doc to check out. I’ll eventually make an easy download but that should help. I used the scheduling cards to make it and center my entire day/week around my oldest to make sure she was able to get in the more challenging work. Shoot me an email and I’ll send it over

    Hi! New to all of those and strongly considering CMEC this coming year. I’ve watched a few of your videos. Do you have a list anywhere of your “don’t miss” AO books? We’re only headed into Y2, but I do love AO as a resource. Thanks!

    • @joycherrick
      @joycherrick  Před rokem +2

      I’m looking at making a resource like that- but I don’t have a list yet! But it’s a good idea to make a video where the share our favorites!!!

    Thanks for the update. I currently use AO for history, read aloud, picture study and poetry. Is there a why you could compare their read aloud choices and history to AO? Thanks for sharing!

    • @joycherrick
      @joycherrick  Před rokem +1

      The biggest difference is that AO goes through a 6 year history rotation using individual grades. (The exception is AO for Groups). CMEC uses a 4 year rotation and each program of work (each YEAR) has history books for the time period being studied for EVERY grade level. So, as a large family mother, it's easier for me to pull out which books we will be using for family work and which ones I'll save for their independent reading.

      @@joycherrick Would you say it’s a lighter history/ independent reader load compared to AO or maybe equal? I homeschool 1 child. The other has graduated😔

    How are you liking the cmec compared to AO?

    • @joycherrick
      @joycherrick  Před rokem +1

      It’s so much better for me as a teacher. I feel much more confident as we make book selections and need to swap things out for different children. They are also helping me manage all the ages and stages. As for books, I still think the AO books overall are fabulous. CMEC uses some of the same selections for some subjects but they have set programs for specific years where CMEC creates new programs. This year we are studying 1800s America and Ancient Rome for our ancient history. This has made things so much easier than with AO having all my kids studying different time periods. I still prefer many of the AO science selections and continue to use those. The special studies and support for notebook keeping has been a huge game changer for the atmosphere of our home! We are diving into so many notebooks and that’s been fun! For science, I’m also utilizing Nicole Williams Sabbath Mood plans for older students and it’s really be marvelous to allow my kids more depth and also more Independence in their work!

      @@joycherrick that sounds amazing! I’ve really been looking into CMEC. So I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts.

    Can you give your feedback to the opinion that the CMEC is a paid version of AO? And why did you switch? How is it different from AO or the Alveary? Thank you, trying to decide between the three and so lost!

    • @joycherrick
      @joycherrick  Před rokem +3

      So I still LOVE the book selections for AO. But CMEC has offered me some teacher training tools and a PATH to know where to start with my planning. I didn't like each child being in a different history stream and science with AO. With the CMEC I've been able to get us all in the same history but at each person's level and then I can add where I want. There are several large family mothers who run the CMEC so I've found it to be VERY helpful for me to do a better job of considering each child and the work they need to be doing for the year.
      As for the Alveary, I peaked through their books and felt that AO selections were superior and didn't see that they offered the training and growth that I need as an educator to justify it. But, perhaps I missed something there as I have friends who use it and enjoy it!

    • @LionWolverine
      @LionWolverine Před rokem +1

      I'm not Joy, but we switched to cmec this year. I have 3 school age and 2 littles. I do think most of what you get in cmec in terms of curriculum is available for free from AO. I prefer some of the ao books (we are Canadian and do switch up some, I can't speak to the cmec american history selections). One thing I really missed from AO is the community support from the forum and fb group. We enjoy the French Playlist and singing games, but there are similar lists on the ao fb group. Cmec provides a lot of teacher training- the timetable training was excellent and probably the best thing I got from cmec, but actually sticking to the timetable is another story 😂
