Sir Harry Secombe (1921-2001) sings "I Believe" in a Swansea-based episode of the BBC's Songs of Praise. Original broadcast date was [probably]: Sunday 17 November 1996.
The last time I saw Harry Secombe in a live show was in Tauranga, NZ I think it was in 1974, It pinged the heart a little because I had not long emigrated from the UK. in 1973. Fifty years later I'm still here. And I still enjoy listening to him!!! He was one of the best!!!
The Goons are one of the biggest influences on comedy ever. Monty Python and The Young Ones would have never existed without them, for example. Harry didn’t write any the Goons material, but he was an important member of the group. I grew up seeing him religious shows, so when I discovered he was part of an anarchic comedy act, it was a bit mind-blowing. How could this kindly grandfather figure been part of anything as leftfield as The Goons? A great performer, funny bloke who was a excellent singer.

Harry Secombe. One of the trio in the great comedy with ''Peter Sellers and Spike Milligan'. 😀🔝👍
If only at the end of his singing, they would play the voice of Grytype ( Sellers) : "You silly twisted boy"
