One of a Kind Coffee Table
Vložit
- čas přidán 1. 06. 2024
- I built this coffee table using 3 hardwoods: maple, cherry & walnut. It measures 24"x48" and the top is 3" thick end grain. The base is solid walnut and the drawers are cherry. This was a massive project and my largest to date. I drew inspiration for this build from a cutting board pattern that originated from MTMWood.
This was a lot of fun to build with a few trying times along the way. Between the build, filming and editing, this took me.....a long time :) As always, there are a few things I could improve upon; my joinery being a good example. I learned a TON on this and look forward to another project like this one.

the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. czcams.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.
This kind of mosaic tabletop breaks like, every rule of traditional woodworking. But it does it in the most beautiful way!
That piece belongs in a museum
What I most appreciate about this channel is you’re not using high end Festool tools and industrial equipment to achieve a remarkable result. Just every day affordable stuff and homemade jigs. Brilliant!
It's amazing what can be done with a fairly basic set up.
Then you're blind, son. I caught at least 4 Festool devices. Also, what HD isle you finding bandsaws like that?
Come on bruh. This is FAR from a common setup. Not even most pro furniture shops have this many goodies.
"Basic setup."
This friggin guy!
Some of us are more basic than others I guess.
Bruh.
You are the hi end or the low end in your shop. Your attention to to detail determines your skill level no matter what tool is in your hands. You can have the finest tools in the world and still not turn out a piece of art like this. Ryan Hawkins did a fantastic job here!
This is the carpentry version of Damascus Steel.
Hugely impressive planning and execution. A master craftsman. Thanks for sharing your work.
That's a great observation.
You're right, it feels very similar to the process of folding steel.
That's exactly what I was thinking watching this. I usually watch blacksmithing videos, but the algorithm sent me here as well. That table is priceless and looks fit for a king. I hope it finds the right home.
i had the same thought! cheers!
It is unbelievable how much attention to detail has gone into this beautiful table. Not only one generation will enjoy it. I celebrate people who put so much work and time into a project like this, from idea to finish. This is real art. 👏♥
Nice project and video; no voiceover, no movie-star wannabe, just calming music and a man plus his dog in the workshop
You are not the average bear. This is a real true treasure. It's too good to sell for any amount.
This is nothing short of a masterpiece. What the average person doesn't know or see is the fact when doing work like this, even if it's a simple cutting board. One slip or over cut requires adjustment to other work pieces as well or the pattern will not work perfectly. Also the titanic amount of prep work involved is nothing short of crazy. Great work my man.
I appreciate you recognizing that fact, it’s so true
"Amen" to that. Every step has to be precise, including dimensioning and glue-ups. Amazing skill applied with patience.
FCUKN incredible work!
That table is PRICELESS!! Your 2 for 2 with the 2 tables I've seen you do. It looks like it belongs to a Pharaoh or something, incredible.
This is M.C. Escher in wood. Let’s hope you don’t have to wait until you are 70 before your “amazing” is recognized. This is stunning.
Wow, thank you
Baby this is amazing!! fabulous! i love you! so innovative!! love it!! and you have a cute doggie to go with it!!! KEEP ON DOING IT BABY!!! AWSOME!!!!!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
This has to be the most incredible build I've ever seen. I cannot even imagine the amount of hours it took you to do this.
26 minutes is how long.. did you watch the video????

@@actualartist3082 26 minutes well spent.

One word; "WOW"!
I like a lot about this project, but I have to tell you it is your well-organized, spacious, and tidy workshop that really caught my eye. I make my own beehive equipment, and for just a second I thought you could be making the worlds fanciest beehive.
Absolutely mesmerized watching you build the table. You, Ryan, have a talent, gifted with patience, and a titebond with your craft. Great job.
Wow, I will always cheer for you in Korea I'm looking forward to a great video. Have a nice day.
We dream of things in life. He makes dreams into reality. All I can say is WOW !!!
Stunning! You can call it carpentry. You can call it engineering. I think it is better described as art. You are an artist sir, and a damn fine one at that. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Thank you for sharing.
Priceless!! I would be putting a glass top on that to avoid straggling the person who slipped red wine on it. LOL Awesome build and great job on the video production!
Hi it's me... your amazing !!! Absolutely beautiful !!! Love you... love you all...
RYAN YOU ARE JUST STUNNING....DOING WORK LIKE THIS.....AND YOU DO NOT HAVE TOP END POWER TOOLS TOO BOOT....ALAN🥰🥰🤩
One of the coolest tables of it's size .. who ever has that is very lucky to get to enjoy that baby . Great work man.
Thanks!
This looks incredible. What a labor of love. Thank you for documenting the process and sharing it!
I'm a carpenter, but I've always wanted to build things like this, your skill is amazing, and I'm glad to see you have titebond as a sponsor, you deserve the money,
Wow. Wenn die Fantasie keine Ende hat erstehen Wunder. Perfekt
I don't really like woodworking, never subscribed to a woodworking channel before but this guy deserves it. Unique work, extremely skill and time intensive, no song and dance just letting the work speak for itself. Well done!!
This is absolutely breathtaking. Your precision & eye for design is masterful.
ما شاء الله تبارك الرحمن
أجمل طاولة انت صنعتها.
مجهود كبير تستحق الشكر عليه 👍🏼
You must float out of your wood shop on a cloud after a day of outstanding creations, kudos to you sir!
Haha sometimes!
One word
STUNNING
If i could leave more thumbs up I would.
Absolutely beautiful work of ART by this very creative individual. Love it!
This reminds me more than most woodworking videos, that it doesn't just take skill to create such a beautiful complex piece, it takes patience, a LOT of patience.
Молодец. Ты супер мастер. О таких можно мечтать.👍👍👍✊
*MAGNIFICENT! TRULY MAGNIFICENT! Watching you build this table was a feast for the eyes, and the brain! You sir, are a true artisan!*
The coffee ☕️ table turned out awesome, and I know I'm a year late seeing this video but hayho 😊. It must have taken you days if not weeks when doing just the table top, let alone the copious amount of woodglue that you had to use, I'd love to see how it has held up over the past 12 months etc. Had this been my project and with it turning out so good honestly I'd have been following everyone around with coasters and telling people that they had to use them otherwise they had to re-sand and finish the table top from scratch. Too nice to ruin with coffee stains !!!. As always buddy 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.
Impressive talent for an almost lost art. Absolutely beautiful! I love ❤️ the look of a piece of furniture with the natural wood speaking for its own beauty! You're a talented person!
I cannot "Not" give you LIKE !!!!! Awesome Artwork Table !
I wanted to write something amazing and complimentary... But I'm speechless.
Wow. ❤️
Thank you so much 😀
While I admire the incredible woodworking skills you demonstrate, I have even more admiration for the creative spirit that allowed you to conceive and plan this build. Congratulations on a magnificent achievement.
Thanks!
Brilliant piece of work. Lots of hard work and the final product is exceptional.
Your talent as a true craftsman is second to none but as artist with wood probably a Vincent Van Gogh or Pablo Picasso !!!! Touche' Bravo and 👍👍
I have watched countless wood working videos on youtube and this project and your video is my absolute favorite. What an absolutely stunning table!!!! I couldn't stop watching....so impressive!!!
Insane! Now this takes talent, know how, and experience to make something this time consuming turn out so perfectly. Beautiful work.
This has got to be the most beautiful table I've ever seen. I wish I could afford something like this. Amazing.
Worthy of a Museum
Такое должно прожить минимум два века👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
It's really refreshing to see someone building something without the "best" tools. Nothing against creators that have a wall of Festool products, but you don't need all that to make cool stuff. Great job man!
Without the "best" tools ? ? ? ? There isn't a single cheap tool in sight. They may not be all the same brand but they are all top quality tools
@@Scott_A you’re right, perspective is important. My point was that he has tools that are more affordable for most people. His table saw is a $700 Ridgid not a $5000 sawstop. He’s got a $400 dewalt planer and not a $6000 Hammer planer jointer combo.
It’s a good of example of using what you have to make something beautiful and to not fall into the trap of thinking you need the most expensive tools to do anything.
@@mwmeekins Aye, fair point
He does have a festool sander hehehe, but no You are right, jk

Stunningly beautiful! The attention to detail is extraordinary.
Master carpenters masterfully work beautifully
Oh Wow!!!! Very Nice.
What an awesome and stunningly beautiful and magnificent table. The intricate patern you made is spectacular.
Spectacular! This coffee table is just beyond words and the zigzag handles on the drawers is the cherry on top!!!
This reminds me of a quilt I made. I named it “Bob Marley”. Your talent is amazing. I hope to see more of your work.
Thanks so much!
What more can I say? INCREDIBLE.!
Absolutely can’t believe you did all that in 26mins.
But seriously. Wow.
WOW !!!
This is really a very nice table. It seems so simple, but in reality it is a lot of work. There is also a great eye for details. I call this a masterpiece, thanks for sharing. It was a pleasure to watch.
Yeah I was just thinking this is fairly simple, but you need really well tuned equipment to pull this off. You see the full setup with the planer, digital angle finder for the perfect miter etc. Yes a lot of people could build this, but no it wouldn't look as perfect without some real craftsmanship, and those minor details can really scream about someone's experience level. It's crazy how even if you're just missing 10% quality, that can be a big difference when you're comparing work.
A work of art! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wow, talk about detailed work. Beautifully done.
Все что я видел на ютубе до этого не идет в сравнение . Колоссально трудоемкий процесс, и впечатляющий результат ! Браво!
OMG! This is absolutely beautiful! I am awestruck. The kind of craftsmanship is out of the world. I wish I could buy one of your work of art and hope I can actually afford it! This is crazy. Well done Sir! 👌👌👌
I LOVE IT !! SOMETHING TO PASS ON FOR GENERATIONS!!
Work of art should be in museum👍
Beautiful work, Sir! I have all of the equipment in my wood shop that you do...you have given me inspiration to create something myself. Thanks for steering me in that direction.
I'm glad you have the equipment and space, and I envy you, but it would be more spectacular if you do a nice job using recycled wood like I did with my vase entirely with waste wood if you want I send you the photo, I have the small cellar and DIY equipment and what little I create and all with scrap wood. thanks
Lindo trabalho, parabéns 👏👏👏👏
This table is mesmerizing
I dont know what is more outstanding.......the workmaship.....the desing it self.......or the wood mix........just a items of creative art.
A few thoughts: WOW, what a great looking table. The time and attention to detail is amazing. Its nice to see a craftsman that does not need the BLING tools. A masterpiece built with "everyman" tools. Awesome
watching videos like this is what got me into furniture and woodworking. seeing works like this off the affordable contractor equipment convinced me I could in fact do it too. 6 years later and now i have all the bling tools and while it may have removed some extra sanding or planning the end results are the same. the bling tools speed up the setup and assist in repeatability but its the skill and creativeness of the craftsman that truly makes the difference.
Wow, your attention to detail and creativity are astounding. Much respect.
You are truly an artist! The table is your Mona Lisa.
Man i know the painstakingly long process of cutting and gluing all those little pieces together, you killed this project man!
Thanks!
What an absolutely marvelous end result! I love the pattern of the top, how you constructed the bottom--the whole thing is absolutely gorgeous. The *only* thing I, as a customer with a touch of OCD would ask for is that the handles on the drawers should be symmetrical. Flip that right hand drawer pull over and this is 100% perfection.
That thought is comforting!
I will watch this again and recommend it to others ! Brilliant to the third power
what a beautiful table
the table will be beautiful but too much wood has been wasted :-( to make it, campaigns are carried out to raise awareness of the waste and then ......., the work of art and create with waste material, give it new life, like my amphora-shaped vase in 6kg stratified wood, one meter high, made entirely of waste wood, oak, fir, walnut
thats so nice, I am going to copy this into a laminate and glue it to some mdf boards which will also be glued together for my table, Well done sir!
I love that you did so much of this in time with the music.
Thats amazing craftsmanship and a beautiful result... well done!!
That's the most wood, glue and no doubt time I've ever seen put into a table of that size! Looks stunning I hope you got paid as much as it weighs lol great job 👍
❤❤ Sublime table, bravo, un bonjour de France ❤❤

Breathtakingly gorgeous 😮!
A unique table in the world i think second to non.
This table is a masterpiece of a forgotten generation. Nobody goes so far to do things like dove tailing and the like. This is a beautiful table and you have done a job that most professionals in this line of work would be stroking their beards in envy over. What a talent you have my friend. Your video alone is a masterpiece. Keep up the excellent work and good luck with your next job.
yes and a good job, it is not difficult just to have the space and the right machines
Oh, sure they did. You just don't see the pieces anymore.
...mostly because when you completely entrap 5 different species of wood inside of one another with glue the orient their respect grains literally every which way, it's a matter of time before you get a really humid summer and the piece will start to tear itself apart.
You don't make a piece like this for your great-grandchildren. It's be falling apart by then (and pretty much impossible to service). For the same reason you wouldn't build one for a client unless they insisted (you'd try to steer them in a different direction, because f'real: you're NOT gonna be able to service this thing). No, this is a labor of love, for the sheer fun of it. It's pretty amazing marketing/advertising too.
But outside something small, like a cutting board? A piece like this... as exquisite as it is... is really just a novelty/impressive flex. I'm not knocking it, at ALL, mind. But compared to some of the intarsia from the Elizabethan era? Oh, trust me: nobody's forgotten how to do it. It's just a damn nightmare TO do (and 10x WORSE when one has to do all the video post afterwards, TOO, if I don't miss my guess.)
Dovetails? I see no dovetails in this table. Looks like your mistaking finger joints as dovetails.
@@brandonbennett127 It appeared that when he was making the drawer, he used dovetails for the joints of the boards. If I am mistaken, it's ok, the entire job is still excellent.
@@az80311 all good. I can see how you could confuse the 2 If your not familiar with all the different jointery. The table still looks 🔥🔥
Absolutely amazing... the workmanship is fantastic. I could never afford something like this in 2022, just the wood probably cost as much as a small car with today's prices.
Absolutely fabulous piece of furniture created there.
My OCD/Designer side loved this! Inspiring Me to do something crazy with the work bench I'm building soon!
That table is amazing. I saw the same pattern on a cutting board not to long ago. Keep on trucking on these projects. You have a very bright future in wood working
